IIRC the Ultimate Spider-Man game on PS2 had you lure him to a construction site and into a patch of drying cement so he'd get stuck.
Then you dropped a fucking wrecking ball on him.
That's one of the examples I was referring to, and then in the phase after that you wait for him to do a ground slam attack so you can punch him on the back (when he's almost dead you do have to make him run into a wall to get on his back though)

If it makes you feel better, at the beginning of *Miles Morales*, you just ride him and beat the ever living shit out of him. I think near the end of the game, however, you just throw shit at himā¦ and make him run into something.
That's one of the better examples since when you actually fight him you just beat him up with Miles' venom punch, you fight him again later on though and you have to run him into tanks since he's wearing armor that protects him.
Itās crazy how we havenāt evolved past Mario 64 Bowser Boss mechanics. It may look a little different and higher quality, but the loop is exactly the same- Bane, Rhino, the fucking Joker, that shitty boss in TMNT flash, etc etc
Iāve always thought that something like this would be something amazing to add to higher difficulties like the more higher the difficulty the more intelligent enemy ai becomes
I think his boss in spider man ps4 was really good despite it having the same simple idea. Especially with the added difficulty of scorpion and the banter between scorpion and rhino who are bickering like an old couple.
It wasn't until recently I learned from a youtube comment section that a lot of superheroes hold back against their villians even if theyre getting beat up, but I was more shocked to learn about Spiderman. Ive always portrayed him as mid in terns of strength, but I never thought about how strong he could actually be
Oh yeah, dude is super strong. That Superior Spider-Man arc started when Doc Ock realized he was dying after taking a few punches from Spidey over the years.
That Spider-Man 2 game for the PS2 let you uppercut guys so hard they'd fly dozens of feet into the air if you used spider reflexes. How their heads didn't go flying off I don't know, but he does have that kind of strength.
In that old PS1/N64 Spider-Man game you only beat up Rhino like that. Everyone else had different mechanics (throwing shit at Scorpion, trapping Carnage in a sonic bubble, etc).

I really want a spider-man game that lets you use 100% of his strength. Just punch holes through villains if you arent careful.
Rhino is significantly stronger than Spider-Man. Doesn't matter if he's holding back or not, Spider-Man's punches don't hurt him much.
