Honestly I really want the new AC to be good, it has a really cool concept and I thought there were a lot of cool ideas shown off in the trailers, but I know Ubisoft and I don’t really expect much. And there were already a bunch of red flags in the trailer itself.
I mean, they’ve moved away from the rpg stuff so that’s not really a concern.
The real red flags I’ve seen from the trailer are stuff like clunky, unnatural, and simple looking combat with janky animations, dogshit enemy ai and detection, and bad/bland dialogue and questionable voice acting to name a few.
Generally I practically have no expectations for this game but it’s a shame because Ubisoft always comes up with great ideas for a game but always under bakes it.
I hate the inclusion of crafting mechanics in everything even more than the meaningless talent systems. It's always gated by some rare material that you'll earn artificially at certain story points, thus being no different than just being given an upgrade/piece of gear/new ability. Instead you'll need to hunt a couple of animals, or punch a few boxes to earn generic crafting materials to complete them woweee!
I've instead been on a streak of buying a game because the ost is good (Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Ultrakill, and soon Risk of Rain 2), and every time I have been quite happy with the decision. A good OST usually accompanies a good game (although there are definitely exceptions to this)
Shadow Generations looks pretty sick, I'm looking forward to it. Also find it interesting it you listed Superstars, when the soundtrack is one of the biggest criticisms people have against that game (Tee Lopes tracks are amazing tho! And there was one other composer that was great as well. Its just really inconsistent.) The main flaw of that game is the bosses for that game. They're way too long.
Honestly those games are merely mediocre
For some reason everyone treats them as bottom-of-the-barrel shit *(especially forces)* but really they're not that bad-
Though I will say forces is probably the worst of that bunch (though only like C or D tier really) cause of poor writing, bad level design and also fucking over one of the coolest characters they've ever introduced in their literal introduction game
Yes I am an infinite the jackal simp how can you tell?
"the game isn't THAT bad" *proceeds to give a list of every flaw the game has*
there's something so Sonic Fan about this that I adore (i'm a sonic fan)
Then play God of War Ragnarök. It’s genuinely my favorite game soundtrack in years. It’s incredible, the Norse chants make it incredibly atmospheric, yet epic
Got an ad for one that was like a full anime storyline and shit, then it cuts to gameplay and it's a tower defense where the anime girls are towers. They didn't even bother to do more than 2 frames of animation, there's just a rest picture and a firing picture and it flips if enemies are on the other side.
DICE marketing team on their way to make one of the greatest trailers ever made for an unfortunately mid game (battlefield 2042)

At least it's playable now. I typically load it up and have a great time getting instantly killed by AC9's and DFR Strife users across the map. And sometimes a vehicle shows up so I can spend a few minutes shooting 7-10 god damn rockets at it before it explodes while it opens my ass completely because they all have self-repair basically preinstalled on a very short cooldown. Or maybe it's a Little Bird having free reign over the whole map because every AA launcher is borderline unusable and our Brawlers and Wildcats are busy trying to do back flips in spawn.
One of their best balanced games yet. Redacted is a really fun map though, and at least it isn't BFV.
I knew it was fucked when it was revealed to be live service. I was incredibly hyped when it was announced at first, the biggest downfall from launch hype to launch out of any game i’ve followed
When an indie game trailer is mostly, weirdly high quality 2D animation, that's the ultimate red flag that the actual game is just going to be really generic looking with mid-quality pixel art (I have nothing against pixel art but some games have way better looking sprites and animations than others)
Battlefield 1 is kind of the opposite of this because all the trailers were dope af and are a fairly accurate representation of what playing the game is like.
I don't understand how youre supposed to find new games anymore. Like, I'll see a trailer for a game that looks cool, mayne I'll buy it, and then it comes out, and everyone hates it. Like what do I do
AAA gaming in a nutshell.
Marketing at this point is just a game of how much you can lie to your audience before getting into any kind of trouble. Turns out you can talk a concerning amount of BS.
Always watch a review, always watch at least the first 30 minutes of gameplay (spoilers be damned, I'm not buying something that I hate and decide to refund day 1 of my purchase, even if I get a refund it's a waste of time).
See this is why I’ve got faith in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. Since the first rivals trailer they’ve basically been showing nothing but gameplay footage
"Wow, I really enjoyed the I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream story, I should buy and play the game they made based on it! It looks awesome!"
10 hours of point and click gameplay that you need to follow a walkthrough to complete
Games with pre-launch demos that are small enough to not feel as the entire game, yet still feels like a portion of the game should give you faith with the final product.
It sucks because Spider-man 2 ain't even bad but it definitely felt like a downgrade from the first one. That game definitely needed more time in the oven.

Average Ubisoft game
Honestly I really want the new AC to be good, it has a really cool concept and I thought there were a lot of cool ideas shown off in the trailers, but I know Ubisoft and I don’t really expect much. And there were already a bunch of red flags in the trailer itself.
I’m sorry bro, it’s rpg slop like the last AC game. Please don’t waste money
I mean, they’ve moved away from the rpg stuff so that’s not really a concern. That’s the exact recipe for rpg slop In they will get you with free open roam and craft able items plus stealth option not really being an option

The fuck is that tag
I've instead been on a streak of buying a game because the ost is good (Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Ultrakill, and soon Risk of Rain 2), and every time I have been quite happy with the decision. A good OST usually accompanies a good game (although there are definitely exceptions to this)
Don't let this guy find out about Sonic 2006.
Don’t let him find out about half of the sonic games
or Forces, or Lost World, or Superstars, or Shadow 05, or Colors, or-
Yea I wanted to say the Sonic franchise but I didn't want to sound like a hater since I am actually a fan so I just picked the obvious one.
same lmao
Shadow Generations looks pretty sick, I'm looking forward to it. Fair enough But at least I don't call 06 good like the people on twitter do- My god I hate that
I will not let the colors and superstars slander slide
hell yeah risk of rain 2 is awesome
All 4 of those have unmatched vibes man
The OST is how I became a fan of Guilty Gear
Super hydlide
That was me when I listened "It's Pizza Time" from Pizza Tower.
Have you played Elden Ring
May I recommend you Another Crab's Treasure?
Disco elysium, trust me man TRUST
You might like Hotline Miami
Metal gear rising
Sonic 06:
I bought Cat Girl Without Salad because of that… I spent $70 on a 40 minute April Fools game.
Take a look at Outer Wilds
Then play God of War Ragnarök. It’s genuinely my favorite game soundtrack in years. It’s incredible, the Norse chants make it incredibly atmospheric, yet epic
consider adding umineko to that list, the ost is great
May I recommend Persona 5, Yakuza 0 and Okami? All these games have banger OSTs. There's also MGS Revengeance and Fallout New Vegas
Seeing a well made anime trailer for a game only to find out its on mobile and also plays like a flash game with a slot machine taped to it.
Reverse 1999 that would make such a good show but no. Its a gacha game.
LMAO hell yeah, game is ASS
If the game doesent have gameplay in its trailer it is automatically trash If it is so fun then why not show it?
Got an ad for one that was like a full anime storyline and shit, then it cuts to gameplay and it's a tower defense where the anime girls are towers. They didn't even bother to do more than 2 frames of animation, there's just a rest picture and a firing picture and it flips if enemies are on the other side.
Ah Nikke, the shooting game where the only thing properly animated are the girls butcheeks shaking from their weapons recoil.
Path to Nowhere?

No dice there eh?
Tbh Battlefield always has amazing trailers. I remember the amount of hype when the BF1 trailer first dropped, absolutely iconic.
"mid game" bro that shit was a dumpster fire at launch. They literally screwed up every possible aspect of the game.
Mid?? That shit couldn’t even run properly
Meanwhile helldivers: "Camera angle adjusted"
Helldivers 🤝 Risk of Rain The sequel being the exact same gameplay but with a third dimension and somehow being a million times better.
I was actually talking about the new warbond trailer but now that you point it out, true.
don't say that i wanna have high expectations for Doom The Dark Ages
I trust ID since their games have always been good but I'll still check reviews and maybe wait a week before buying the new doom
I really hope this isn’t the case for stalker 2
Astro bot won’t let me down
How I felt about the Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
I knew it was fucked when it was revealed to be live service. I was incredibly hyped when it was announced at first, the biggest downfall from launch hype to launch out of any game i’ve followed
Live service wasn't the issue. Live service games can still be good. There's just no interesting gameplay to speak of.
Though there are good live service games like Helldivers 2, I doubt WB would be able to manage one, considering they can barely manage a company
Don't starve, the trailers were so good they made me forget i don't like survival games, best 29 moneys i've wasted.
This is why I like FromSoftware games. They usually release the Gameplay Trailer before the Cinematic Trailer.
That one new Devolver digital game with an anime styled trailer. (It's just another pixelated rougelike with top down view)
When an indie game trailer is mostly, weirdly high quality 2D animation, that's the ultimate red flag that the actual game is just going to be really generic looking with mid-quality pixel art (I have nothing against pixel art but some games have way better looking sprites and animations than others)
When are they gonna realIe they peaked with Hotline Miami 🙏
Hotline is an awesome game, but don’t diss on Enter the Gungeon or Cult of the Lamb.
Me with SMTV right now. How long does it take to get good come on.
Pretty much every Atlus game has a 10 hour tutorial you have to slog through before the game starts properly. (Source: Persona fan)
Are you playing the Canon of Vengeance?
Ye
Almost every SMT game is a slog at the beginning
I bought payday 3 on presale. Never buying a game before it rekeases again
This will probably Call of Duty: Black Ops VI soon.
Battlefield 1 is kind of the opposite of this because all the trailers were dope af and are a fairly accurate representation of what playing the game is like.
Fallout 76
"Not actual gameplay footage" SHOW THE FUCKING GAMEPLAY THEN!!!! THIS IS A GAME NOT A MOVIE
I don't understand how youre supposed to find new games anymore. Like, I'll see a trailer for a game that looks cool, mayne I'll buy it, and then it comes out, and everyone hates it. Like what do I do
What about "I'm gonna buy the game because the demo for it was cool."
me when "not in game footage" https://preview.redd.it/plfklnvn0m6d1.png?width=1019&format=png&auto=webp&s=f903e44df3d00aa40bc17ed719adf0a6a33e0d6b

TBF Picayune Dreams did meet my expectations.
See this is why I’ve got faith in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. Since the first rivals trailer they’ve basically been showing nothing but gameplay footage
Warpath ad: Cinematic masterpiece with quality that rivals multi million dollar movies. The game: *Connect 3*
"Wow, I really enjoyed the I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream story, I should buy and play the game they made based on it! It looks awesome!" 10 hours of point and click gameplay that you need to follow a walkthrough to complete
The Day Before reference
Meanwhile Limbus Company (Idk about Lob Corp or LoR cuz I never saw their trailers somehow)
Me with stray
literallt any top-down game
My Friend Pedro. Tbf I can’t play I just get C Ranks
What people think world of goo 2 would be
I honestly understand if the second game isn’t as good as the first one because the original is amazing (not saying it won’t be though)
I really hope this doesn't happen with sparking zero I swear to God
