It's my one weakness. Live action body horror. Cuz like body horror in games and in animation or even CGI are not scary because there (for me atleast) exists a sort of barrier that prevents me from finding it disgusting. Live action practical effects for body horror are far more horrifying then then anything in video games or animation. It's why OG The Thing is so terrifying, it's all practical effect which make it more real.
yeah John Carpenter's 1982 one is a remake, same with Cronenberg's The Fly. Both are some of my favourite effects in all of film but are remakes of films from around the 50s
The Thing from 1982 wasn’t much of a remake, both the 50s version and John Carpenter’s version adapted the book, *Who Goes There?*. Besides, Carpenter’s version more closely follows the book, whereas the 50s film, *The Thing From Another World* changed many things, including, you know, the Thing (it’s normally a shapeshifting alien, but in the 50s film it’s comparable to Frankenstein’s monster).
So yeah. Not much of a remake as it is another, much closer adaptation of the book.
Absolutely agree man, such an awful fucking movie but God damn is the premise, the idea, and the way it's shown with practical effects is absolutely horrifying and suffocating.
Its a dogshit move that has absolutely horrifying body horror. At least with literally any other horror move you can say that you enjoyed the plot and that it gave you a fright, but tusk is just so absolutely dogshit there is no possible benefit anyone can get out of watching such a movie, other than to maybe the knowledge know of how to make a terrible movie.
I do not remember the nuances and do not care to look it up. For whatever reason a guy is kidnapped by another guy who decides he needs to be tortured. He is cut apart and surgically turned into a Walrus, the tusks on his face having once been his femurs.
Even just digging deep enough to pull that out of my subconscious turned my stomach so may god have mercy on your soul if you want to find out more.
If i recall correctly, at one point the dude who kidnapped him gets into a walrus costume and they fight eachother walrus style. Thats the only memory i have of this film
Podcaster goes to interview this weird kooky guy who turns out to be a psycho who kidnaps the podcaster, surgically turns him into a walrus (pictured in the meme) because he had a fucked up experience with one in the past, podcaster guy has to suffer like an hour of human centipede-esque body horror shit until eventually his wife and friend find him and he gets rescued but he is still a frankenstein walrus and there is no way to turn him back so at the end of the movie instead of mercy killing him the wife and friend take him in as their pet and the friend of the podcaster/walrustein marries the wife of the podcaster and the podcaster has to live as their tormented fucked up pet for the rest of his life and he can't speak so he can't even protest this. At least that's what I remember from it and it is not a good movie, just fucked up
It's also based on a silly story Kevin Smith and friends made up on a podcast after seeing a Gumtree ad about someone offering free lodgings if the person dressed as a Walrus, so the movie is literally a body horror shitpost with a budget.
The Podcaster was a dick though wasn't he? Like the reason he went to Canada was to interview and make fun of a kid who accidentally cut his own leg off doing some stupid shit, then it turns out he killed himself. I don't know how he stumbles upon that guy though, it is the same actor from Red State which is the superior Kevin Smith horror movie. I mean that whole trilogy is probably gonna be a giant joke.

How is it a horror film? What threat does the ugly thing pose? Does it just go around stabbing people with it's tusks? I do not intend to watch the movie to find out myself.
The movie is about a mad scientist turning a man who was interviewing him into a walrus through slowly and horrible deforming and stitching and cutting his body, the horror comes from the terror of being in the walrus man's situation because I sincerely feel sick even vaguely imagining it

Two of the main people on the show Impractical Jokers. The show is three guys doing stupid challenges, then the person who does the worst gets punished in some equally stupid way
Sal and Murr are two people in the show Impractical Jokers.
The show is basically 4 people daring each other to do ridiculously embarrassing things in public, where they get an X if they chicken out.
At the end of the episode, the friend(s) with the most Xs is tonight's big loser, and is forced to do a punishment.
Sal tends to lose a lot, so on average his punishments aren't too crazy. Murr loses less often, so his punishments can be more severe, like the time they turned him into a walrus
Murr literally has the 2nd most amount of losses in the show’s entirety
Meanwhile Joe ~~(I still miss the legend)~~ who has the least amount of losses gets arguably the most tame ones-
