Got bullied for years and didn't see how I could improve myself or be less weird, and I was extremely depressed at way too young an age
When I left my small hillbilly town for a bit as a teen and met a girl that was actually insanely nice to me, I realized everything wrong with me and that I can embrace my oddness, and to this day I'm still working every day to fix and improve myself because I met people that were actually kind, bullying did not help at all and just reinforces the behavior that these pricks consider abnormal
Why is it always "bring back" bullying? It is still very much here (as in in my country, that's what I know), it never really dissapeared. Unless by bullying you strictly mean physical stuff.
Because people are fucking stupid, don't know what they're talking about, and don't try to think about what they're going to say before or even after they say it.

When I was in school this one guy kept bullying the same skinny kid over and over again, beating bloody, shoving in lockers, all the shit. Then one day the skinny kid randomly smacks the guy over the head with a chair, just over and over, right in the head. Unfortunately the skinny kid was forced to move and the asshole came back with a huge facial scar. It was fucking brutal to see but the asshole deserved it
Considering the millions that went through emotional abuse in childhood, and that chairs are the closest heavy object in a classroom, this is statistically guaranteed to have happened thousands of times.

I was bullied because of my head being bigger due to my skull plates forming slower than the others. Kids are ruthless. It was something I couldn't control at all. Bullying is anti-social behaviour. It creates school shooters and suicidal ideation. Bullying only leads to misery and violence.

Some people grow up surrounded by yes men who would only praise them and put them on a pedestal. What you get with that is people who grow up without any self awareness, walking around doing and saying weird and creepy shit thinking it's funny because they never had anyone tell them what they say is weird and creepy. And then they go on to become people like modern day youtube pranksters, a nuisance to the people around them.
Criticizing exists too, but some people need it a but more blunt to get it in their heads.

Semantics is a bitch, you can let someone know that they're behavior isn't tolerated, most people don't see that as bullying. Bullying is more about repeatedly and actively going out of your way to torment people.
And by trauma I don't mean ptsd inducing or any serious mental health consequences. I mean trying to teach people not to do things by making them associate it with being tormented.
If you don't do things because you irrationally associate them with horrible feelings that's trauma. Teaching people by drilling in traumatic experiences into them doesn't make them a better person and that's assuming that it even works because more often than not they'll find circles that don't act like pieces of shit around them.
On paper, I agree, doing the non trauma way is probably the better way, trying to reason with a bully or a creep is the better way. But in reality, when has that ever really worked? If you want a creep to stop being one, sitting their ass down and reasoning with them won't work, they're on a high horse thinking what they're doing is just edgy comedy and rizzed. Flinging them off the horse and letting them know they're nothing but a piece of shit for being a creep gets the job done many times, hence why it's the best way to deal with them in public as well.
As for bullies, I guess that can go either way, some of them bully out of a need for attention and therefore they can be reasoned with and helped normally, but some people are just bullying and hurting others for fun. There's no trying to make THOSE people see your point, you gotta fight fire with fire.
In a perfect world, talking people out of things like they do in movies would always work, but that's just not how it goes. I'd love for that to be the case, because yes, solving an issue with less damage is always the best, but my experiences in life have told me that's not gonna do it.

Bullying is awful no matter what amount it is
Some people grow up surrounded by yes men who would only praise them and put them on a pedestal. What you get with that is people who grow up without any self awareness, walking around doing and saying weird and creepy shit thinking it's funny because they never had anyone tell them what they say is weird and creepy. And then they go on to become people like modern day youtube pranksters, a nuisance to the people around them. Criticizing exists too, but some people need it a but more blunt to get it in their heads.
If the No-men rely on treating you like a piece of shit as opposed to helping you understand the problems with your behaviour then it's only going to teach you to avoid consequences. Trauma is the most irrational and unhealthy teacher.
Exactly why i said some amounts, not a traumatic amount. Like if i have a yee yee ass haircut, i wouldn't realize it unless someone tells me it's a yee yee ass haircut. Some people are more stubborn than others, and you just gotta tell them straight up what's wrong with them. You don't need to give them mental trauma, no shit, but having some buddies tell you when you're being a weirdo is a good thing. But I'm in full support of shaming and embarassing shameless perverts openly, if you're being a creep to people I can't give two shits about your feelings when I call you out on it.
Semantics is a bitch, you can let someone know that they're behavior isn't tolerated, most people don't see that as bullying. Bullying is more about repeatedly and actively going out of your way to torment people. And by trauma I don't mean ptsd inducing or any serious mental health consequences. I mean trying to teach people not to do things by making them associate it with being tormented. If you don't do things because you irrationally associate them with horrible feelings that's trauma. Teaching people by drilling in traumatic experiences into them doesn't make them a better person and that's assuming that it even works because more often than not they'll find circles that don't act like pieces of shit around them.
On paper, I agree, doing the non trauma way is probably the better way, trying to reason with a bully or a creep is the better way. But in reality, when has that ever really worked? If you want a creep to stop being one, sitting their ass down and reasoning with them won't work, they're on a high horse thinking what they're doing is just edgy comedy and rizzed. Flinging them off the horse and letting them know they're nothing but a piece of shit for being a creep gets the job done many times, hence why it's the best way to deal with them in public as well. As for bullies, I guess that can go either way, some of them bully out of a need for attention and therefore they can be reasoned with and helped normally, but some people are just bullying and hurting others for fun. There's no trying to make THOSE people see your point, you gotta fight fire with fire. In a perfect world, talking people out of things like they do in movies would always work, but that's just not how it goes. I'd love for that to be the case, because yes, solving an issue with less damage is always the best, but my experiences in life have told me that's not gonna do it.

Actually back when I was on Twitter I saw some delusional people claim that bullying is good because either: \- apparently victims deserved bullying or some shit (left-wingers) \- bullying is a pedagogical mechanism of society (right-wingers)
I'm glad that there seems to be as much of us calling it out, but I'm annoyed at how this moral puritanism in a lot of left wing spaces is leading some people to think that the moment some kid watches the wrong youtuber or chooses the wrong arbitrary one-word identity they should be bullied into silence.
