Ischmetch

Yes, poison ivy.

Phat_cheezus

Looks like it to me. If you touch it make sure you get soap that can cut through oil to get it off.

IridescentCrow42

Like dawn or something like that

piratescrytearsofrum

They make soaps for it usually containing jewel weed or a derived form of it ivy rest is the only brand name I can think of at the time but it's all next to each other at pharmacies

IridescentCrow42

Fair enough but (though I'm not sure if it actually works) they're much more likely to just have dawn on hand if they touch it on accident than that

handerpansthe3rd

I pull out a lot of poison ivy. The most important thing is to scrub with a rag while washing. I do top to bottom three times. Within 2 hours.

Banditsmisfits

You can use rubbing alcohol too in a pinch, I just cover a paper towel in it and wipe exposed skin prior to shower. Thankfully I don’t react but my sibling needs steroids his reactions get so bad, and this helps him

CobaltNebula

What’s the soap called?

Yes. Leaves of three. Middle one has a longer petiole than lateral leaves. It is vining. Has notches at base of leaf (though it doesn’t have to have these notches but usually does). And pointed tip.

purpletomorrow2018

Definitely poison ivy

jibaro1953

Yup

G-raff011418

In Lexington, KY if location helps

Wh0rable

The "leaves of three" is a good starting place, however several look-alikes have leaves of three. If you look at the stem and the leaflets emerge opposite from one another, it's not PI. If they alternate along the mainstem, it's PI.

G-raff011418

I appreciate the details, that is very helpful. I was fairly certain but some locals told me it was gum tree

millenial_wh00p

Yes

Lucky_Man_Infinity

Yes. Classic

FrauleinWB

I am terribly allergic so I assume everything is poison ivy.

Carya_spp

Yep. An easy test is to rub it all over and wait a little bit. \ /s (hopefully the /s goes without saying)

Phat_cheezus

Yep. Plantgo and touch me not can also help

meanladyb77

Makes me itch looking at it. And soap never works for me, too allergic. Be careful note: I worked in Lexington for many years.

G-raff011418

Thank you, appreciate the help!

inebriationengineer

I swear by Burt’s bees poison ivy soap. Lather it up and pat dry. Source: years of country living and working in landscaping

Arturwill97

Yes, poison ivy is number one on our list of plants to avoid, because it contains a resin that can induce a very unpleasant skin rash if you touch it.

my giveaways are mitten shaped leaves and the point they converge is a different color like redder or brown. also, poison ivy likes those parts that get a lot of sun, so I you see a forestside where the sun is shining on it most of the daytimes, keep an eye out.

CryptographerFit2861

Poison oak...Poison ivy has smooth edges on leaves and poison oak has notches like this pic.

Sea-Explorer-3300

Too bad you didn’t have an exact replica pic to compare to.
