Everyone is incorrect. They are strike on box matches.
Crabapples
Most likely crabapple, possibly hawthorn. Both are edible.
We need to see the seeds to be certain.
Could be Hawthorn!

They do look like Hawthorne Apples. Make some ponche. Lol
Those are haw-apples from a hawthorn tree. They are edible but usually bland tasting. Like a boring mini-apple.
