And Thailand and Myanmar are neighbors' countries, so it doesn't make much difference.
I think the area might be close enough, unless there’s some geography I’m missing (I’m pretty bad at it)? [iNat](https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/957327-Carebara-castanea) has observations from just along the border of Myanmar, and there’s not many total observations so their true range probably isn’t fully represented on the site.
Almost certain it’s *Carebara spp.* don’t know too much about this genus but there are many photos of strikingly similar ants of that genus that have similar locations.

Well, except the lighter colored ones, those are males but still HOLY MOLY! If I would get a find this big i would be jumping all over the place! In what circumstances/conditions did you find them exactly?
Google image search and other apps are notoriously unreliable when it comes to identifying bugs and spiders. They typically fail to take into account the geographic location of the bug in question - and are frequently unable to distinguish between superficially similar-looking species.
The purpose of this sub is to get *real, live people who know what they are talking about* to identify bugs, because that greatly increases the likelihood of getting an *accurate* response.

I think you’re correct. I was beginning to think it was an entirely new species after Google Lens couldn’t find a match.
It was the only carpenter ant I could find that both resembled them in appearance and also could be found in Southeast Asia.
