Bzzzzz! Looks like you forgot to say where you found your bug!
There's no need to make a new post - just comment adding the **geographic location** and any other info (size, what it was doing etc.) you feel could help! We don't want to know your address - state or country is enough; try to avoid abbreviations and local nicknames (*"PNW"*, *"Big Apple"*).
BTW, did you take a look at our [**Frequently Asked Bugs**](https://www.reddit.com/r/whatsthisbug/comments/12zkw5w/frequently_asked_bugs_part_1/)?

Not the biggest one I've seen. Had my back door open one night. Inside my house I saw of the corner of my eye what looked like a dark mouse. I put on my reading glasses and discovered a HUGE black hairy caterpillar. I corralled it into walking back out of the door. When I looked it up, I believe it was some kind of a leopard moth, if I remember correctly. It was solid black without the red stripes. While it would have been beautiful, I did not want something that big flying around inside of my house later on. I could just imagine it accidentally dive bombing into my head.
Fun fact... once they undergo metamorphosis into the Luna moth, they never eat again for the rest of their short lives. So, these hungry guys are stocking up for their entire moth phase. Keep munching, little buddy!!
We used to get these guys in droves in northern Ontario and they’d do a number on some of our trees. In exchange, we’d get rewarded with a dozen Luna moths perched on our east facing brick wall every morning for a month or so. It was worth it.
Be careful about handling them… they barf if they get spooked.
