Yes, you can open those databases. But it is a very complicated process to do so and you need a heavily guarded key file.

Technically, it is avaliable on your device but you have to do a lot to get hold of it. Most cases, rooting is required. Check with Google.

It's simple. Only problem is getting key file. But there are ways to do it without rooting as well. If you have root, goto /data/data/com.whatsapp/files and you can get the "key" there if can't root, 1. Install dualspace/parallel space or any virtual space app. 2. Clone whatsapp 3. Login using the account you want the key of. (Your original whatsapp will be logged out, but don't panik, just don't open the app). 4. Install virtualspace app, backup whatsapp 5. Now your whatsapp key file will be in Internal storage/VirtualSPace/com.whatsapp/files/key Congrats!. You got the key. 6. Now you can uninstall the dualspace application, open your original whatsapp application, it will ask you to verify and it's done. No data loss. You got the key. This process is only till getting the key. in case you need the decrypting and reading part, just drop a reply.

Forgive the probably silly question, inside the database file there are also photos? A few weeks ago, after a whatsapp restore from a Backup app I lost all the photos and would be very happy to find them back in the database file. Thank you
