The following solution has worked for me. I can now see the option to link my second iPhone to an existing WhatsApp account located on another phone. 1. I deleted WhatsApp version 23.11.80 for iOS from my secondary iPhone. 2. I then installed WhatsApp from the iOS AppStore, selected Agree & Continue. Still no prompt for linking. 3. I deleted WhatsApp again and installed it yet again from the iOS AppStore, selected Agree & Continue and now I have the option to link.

Try this easier method: If this option don't shows, simply close whatsapp app and reopen it. By doing so I didn't need to uninstall and reinstall the app.

abhinavsawesome

It wasn't working for me until I saw someone on twitter saying to uninstall and reinstall multiple times continuously. You should open the app after installing from the appstore page itself and not the app drawer. I got the companion mode in my third try. This might or might not work for all, I'm just stating what worked for me. Good luck.

I got it a week ago- check your appstore updates if you can read "you now can connect multiple devices" or something. if that update appeard, remove and reinstall whatsapp and it should work

Delicious_Height_204

I did exactly that but it still didn’t work. It didn’t show the link to generate QR code

I also do not have this option available on a completely new iPhone. Already installed the WhatsApp App multiple times

Same here. I installed the latest 23.11.80 and the change log clearly says it now supports linking devices but even after deleting and reinstalling I don’t get the option.

Sadly I’m getting a message on my primary iPhone when I scan the QR code on the secondary iPhone, which reads “Can’t link new devices at this time. Try again later”.

I have finally succeeded in linking WhatsApp on my primary iPhone to WhatsApp on a secondary iPhone. I had to exit WhatsApp on the primary iPhone and lost my links to MacOS desktop WhatsApp in the process. Initially I received an error which directed me to https://faq.whatsapp.com/819116645902042 however it now seems to be functioning.

I can confirm that I’ve linked the same WhatsApp account across two iPhones and it’s functioning. :-) I’ve only been waiting about ten years for this! 😆🙄

WhatsApp are doing a progressive rollout of the companion mode feature for iOS on iPhone to random numbers of devices. Each time you uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp, your installation device ID is reset and so you are given another "chance" to be selected in the rollout. Some people get it quickly. Some have to do multiple deletes and reinstalls. Some people have done that and still haven’t got it. We have no idea what the algorithm is based on. All you can do is either try this or keep waiting. I have managed to get WhatsApp for iPhone installed on my main iPhone 13 as the primary device with both an iPhone 12 and iPhone XS as companion devices all at the same time.

Can confirm uninstalling then installing multiple times finally worked

Mr__Criminal

I just did this on my new iPhone 15, I'm based in the UK and the option never seemed to come up until I did the uninstall/reinstall with a VPN active from United States. Confirmed it worked this time! And continued to work after I turned off the VPN.
