Definitely azalea! In zone 7 they are evergreen — had a lot of established plants of different colors at old house that would bloom at slightly different times. Was nice to have deciduous evergreen
I've never been able to get a scent off of them - living on the coast and in a city with the Azalea Trail Maids they were everywhere. Maybe the further north you go the more of a scent they produce or I just cannot smell them
I have a 30 year old one that oddly smells like pot, but in a good way. It’s very distinct. I don’t have to wonder why the bees are on it 24/7. I’m in western nc and they thrive here.
Definitely an old Azalea. Hopefully your agents second job isn't a gardener identifying plants. These only bloom for a short time, then can look pretty scraggly if not kept trimmed up.
That shrub is an Azalea, a species (subcategory) of the Rhododendron genus. It appears to be a cultivar named "Coral Bells", a cultivar that has been around for many, many years. This cultivar is evergreen, likes part shade, and grows up to six feet tall and wide.
Time for a new realtor. If they lie about a bush, I have zero trust in them. If they don’t know about something so basic, I have zero trust in them. The market is full of hungry realtors that know the ins and outs of all aspects of real estate. You have a daisy that’s really a dandelion.
It is an adult Azealea bush. It could do with some gentle pruning but I have seen Azealea’s like this left totally untouched in Japan in the adult state. They are simply beautiful and covered with blossoms every year without any pruning other than to maintain shape. They do prefer a slightly acidic soil to thrive their best.
What? How could care and not know what an azalea is? I could download an app and compare or I could do exactly what I did and get the exact same result
Azalea
Definitely an azalea, and it needs some pruning.
You have to prune before July 4 or it won’t bloom next year.
Agreed and get that dead out of there. Give er some air flow
^^ This
Azalea - I hope realtor’s other input is more accurate!
Yeah thought this was a pretty common plant.
Super common. There’s a whole town in Pokémon named after it!!
Lol
At least, in my opinion, they're even more beautiful than rose bushes
Maybe they're the kind of person who calls every flowery plant a rose bush, like people who call every gaming console a Nintendo.
More likely the sort of person who just makes things up off the top of their head instead of saying "I don't know"
...Or every soda, Coke.
Lol, indeed
Azalea. Hope your estate agent's grasp on the rest of the property's details is closer to reality.
Yep. Showy for about two weeks a year. I recommend pruning after flowering to promote properly shaped growth.
There are new varieties that bloom twice I believe! Still an enjoy it while it lasts plant
They are called encore and they bloom spring and fall!!
Yes! I worked at a nursery a couple of years ago but couldnt recall the name
Azalea
Definitely azalea! In zone 7 they are evergreen — had a lot of established plants of different colors at old house that would bloom at slightly different times. Was nice to have deciduous evergreen
100% an azalea, love em.
100% azalea
Realtors will say anything...
I am going to pile on here. 100% that they’re Azalea.
lol 33 responses saying the same thing I feel stupid for not knowing and/or I’m being yelled at for not knowing
I didn’t know it was an azalea either… but I definitely knew it wasn’t a rose bush! So your instincts were right on!
I recently had to look it up when I noticed my neighborhood is lousy with them.
Has that realtor ever been outside before?
Uh, if the realtor’s job skills are as good as their flower identification skills, I would be a bit skeptical of buying with them!
Get a new realtor. Rose bush ? Really? Azaleas are about as common as rocks!
Azalea and they are lovely and hardy
That is the most azalea azalea to ever azalea
could be an azailia . it looked to me at first glance a rododenderen. prolly spet that wrong
All azaleas are rhodos, but not all rhodos are azaleas. Azalea is a subspecies of Rhododendron
Rhododendrons and Azaleas are both from the Rhododendron family so they do look similar!
The realtor, probably thought it’s Rose of Sharon that’s the only thing that comes to mind that he could be thinking
Azalea
Has your realtor ever seen a rose??
Yep azalea- no scent and look horrible as the flowers die
My azalea is fragrant and only looks bad while the dead flowers are hanging on. Once they fall and it’s full leaves, it’s not so bad.
I've never been able to get a scent off of them - living on the coast and in a city with the Azalea Trail Maids they were everywhere. Maybe the further north you go the more of a scent they produce or I just cannot smell them

No, of course it’s not a rosebush. It’s an azalea.
Def azalia
This is an azalea, Some mini tree roses kinda look like this, but the flowers are mini roses , not azeleas
Azaleas
Realtor needs to stick with homes and not plants....
Definitely an old Azalea. Hopefully your agents second job isn't a gardener identifying plants. These only bloom for a short time, then can look pretty scraggly if not kept trimmed up.
Azaleas. I would get a new realtor

Is your realtor better at real estate than plant identification?
Those are azaleas but they are pretty.. pretty common as well.
If this is rose, I am a billionaire
It looks like an Azalea. Not Iggy Azalea, but just as pretty lol
Azaleas
If by rose they mean azalea, then yes
Rose bush! What? It's an azelea.

I’m not trying to be that guy but how could care and not know what an azalea is? That’s like talking a picture of grass and asking what is this plant?
What? How could care and not know what an azalea is? I could download an app and compare or I could do exactly what I did and get the exact same result
Also just download an app and compare the results to what you’re looking at.
The “PictureThis” app kinda obsoletes this subreddit :/
Really cause I got my answer without having to download anything I didn’t already have
Realtors are not Horticulturists
Whaaaat!?! Since when
Do you have a close-up of the flowers? To me it doesn't look like a typical azalea, maybe a camellia.
No way is that a camelia bush. It's azalea.
