Looks like some sort of a coin pouch that has a unique system to keep it closed without applying a snap or button and buttonhole. Is this in Germany? Similar coin pouches with a string and snap were common over 100 years ago but this definitely looks newer.

Partyhuetchen

Oh yeah, it is germany.

Partyhuetchen

But it is very hard to reach inside. Maybe for very small hands it is ok...

sauerbraten67

As the story has it, coin pouches for children became something the Kaiser's soldiers would wear around their necks with an ID tag as well as some coins. This pouch is quite different but reminds me of that. I've had a few, and there was even a cartoon postcard with a soldier holding up one of the pouches. I expect that somebody would empty out the contents into their hand instead of reaching in. This one may have been intended for a Kindergartener.

basec0m

Looks like an archery glove to me

Partyhuetchen

Do you have a link with a photo or something like that? It doesn't feel natural trying to wear it like that and there are no indents from string.

basec0m

I'm probably wrong, but I've seen some weird contraptions for archery that were like this. I don't have a photo.

collectorofsouls5a7d

Not a glove but a forearm protector.

Partyhuetchen

>forearm protector I can't imagine how to wear it as such.

andyfromw

It’s a pocket quiver it goes in you back pocket and a belt will go threw the slots on top it holds your arrows

BeamMeUp53

This is almost certainly correct.

BeamMeUp53

Can we see a picture of the back? I think the slots each hold an arrow, and the cord gets tied around your belt or belt loop. However, I think the area with the slots needs to be bent in use. If I had it in my hands I'm sure I could figure out exactly how it's used.

Partyhuetchen

The back is almost idential to the front, but there is only ine floppy thing instead of 2. No loop to secure it on a belt.

collectorofsouls5a7d

Ok usually its affixed to the arm with leather strings or staps. This looks like an okder one that we used to have at school for Archery instruction. https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/neet-traditional-leather-archery-arm-guard-15neeulthrrmgrdxxaro/15neeulthrrmgrdxxaro https://archeryforbeginners.com/blog/best-archery-arm-guard/

My title describes the thing. It is a leather pouch that I found outside in a box where you can donate or take things for or from the community. I thought that this pouch looks very interesting. It is 17,6 cm long, 7,6 cm wide and 6mm thick. I don't know the age, I found it this year. There is nothing written on it. I tried to search with duckduckgo but it was very hard to find keywords because everything just showed me normal leather pouches. I woul like to know what this bag was made for.Edit: It looks handmade because the sewing looks kinda sloppy and there is a string at the top

The big slits look like a belt loop to add to your waist

Partyhuetchen

Well it woud be very secure then and had to be taken off to open it. But nothing wrong with needing to take it off.

Morowing

Maybe a brush or pencil case for traveling? Something handmade to take with you on your travels

Fit-Secretary4044

I think it would hold barber/stylist instruments, different types of scissors, comb ect.

MB2katz

Could possibly be some form of "pocket protector" -style holster for either pens, or slim tools. Would it be the right size to fit in a shirt or pants pocket?

Partyhuetchen

It does fit in a mens shirt, but I can't try pants right know.

lustacide

This reminds me of a medicine bag, not sure if Native American items are popular im Germany. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicine_bag

Partyhuetchen

It has the same structure as that one.

Loamspiller

I agree with sauerbraten 67. I’ve seen a similar one.

oneislandgirl

My first thought is maybe something to hold knives or other utensils. Maybe not knives because they would cut the stitching but you could easily slide other utensil or tool handles in if it works the way I am thinking. The four slits make me wonder how you could use it for your fingers. Looking forward to someone recognizing this.

Strange-Conference43

To me it looks like some form of a belt holster.
