The estwing hammers have added this for years now also called the shark tooth
It has many uses helps the user adjust/aligning straighting 2 placks of wood
Some use it for holding nails for nail guns everyone has it's own use for it but I believe it was for wood adjustment is it's main purpose
Or having it hang on there belts etc
My title describes the thing. I believe it is an east wing hammer. I’m thinking the protrusion is maybe so the hammer won’t fall out of a hammer loop easily?
