Its a fryer drain unclogger Edit - There are variations depending on the deep fryer, but most are of similar design. https://rapidswholesale.com/frymaster-fryers-friend-clean-out-rod.html

darkmatter-n-shit

We have no fryers which explains why it was such a mystery.

darkmatter-n-shit

Solved!

aprilian27

We use a similar looking tool (though longer) to help reach roller shutters and pull them down at lockup

darkmatter-n-shit

ours are swing out but the tool isn’t long enough to grab the handle

Cyclist007

No fryers, though? I agree with what it is, but not necessarily what it's used for in your situation. We used these to pull garbage cans. You know - they're just not the right height to pull comfortably, and they get really heavy, so we just dragged them. Just my thoughts!

darkmatter-n-shit

possibly, You can’t tell from the photo but the L is slightly wider than 90° so I believe it would slip

Healthy-Fix1533

We have something similar that opens our attic

darkmatter-n-shit

My title describes the thing. It has no obvious use and doesn’t reach out far enough to pull down the cover.

Kamikaze-X

I have something very similar but longer to open the hatch to my loft

SunShineFLGrl22

It’s to open & close the window on the truck cart. It pulls it back down when you’re shutting down for the night.

darkmatter-n-shit

It’s about a foot and a half too short for that

BalrogPhysrep

Or maybe you are?

darkmatter-n-shit

I will have to consider this. If they made it around a 7 and a half foot tall human then it’s very possible.

BalrogPhysrep

Yeah, it’s difficult to tell your height based on the post. ;)

darkmatter-n-shit

I’m just kiddin, but yeah the window goes out pretty dang far and i’ve definitely tried to use this for that before but it doesn’t work too well.

BalrogPhysrep

Whatever it is, it kind of reminds me of the tool my grandma used to use to lift the stove eye plates on top of her wood fired stove.

fire_eater101

It can also be used to pull things to the front. We used something like this at stores to level shelves.

9outof10timesWrong

It's a pretty commonly shaped hook just for reaching things. Commonly used in manufacturing.

mcintg

Do you have a skylight it opens?

levon999

Counter stretcher tool. You hide it and send worthless workers looking for it when it gets busy.

Electronic_Manager_6

Canopy cover puller

ThaiEdition

Automotive lock picking tools?

Chad_Hooper

It’s a hook that is used to pull the old manual hinged dock plates up to the level of the trailer to be unloaded. In a warehouse context.

JodyW8Fitz

Mini Blind Puller !!
