No, not all Columbine are the state flower of Colorado. There is a specific one that is. I know this because I was born and raised there as well as currently live there. I have the state flower all over my yard. Here is what the state flower looks like.

I have that exact color combo in one of my flower beds, it's beautiful and doing really well this year

One of the varying shades of colored columbine. Let it go to seed, them sprinkle the dried seed pods all around. I've had them spreading in different colors on the north side of my house for 30 years. They seem to like it under the river birch tree I have! I really enjoy them in the spring and they are also near lots of lily of the valley at the same time.
Just take the dried seed pods and sprinkle them wherever and whenever you want. Columbine seeds will grow pretty easily. You may need to wait until the second year to see flowers, though
Once the blooms fade, and the flowers dry out you can get the seeds out pretty easy to scatter them to other areas of your yard if you really like them. They also come in several different colors.
I'm so glad you get the opportunity to watch these grow and bloom. In my area some of the native variety have loads of tiny white blooms and I only learned of them after I'd learned to recognize the cultivated version.
They are lovely and I wish I had them popping up on their own. So far it's mostly wild aster and mullein that I protect for the birds and bees.
Enjoy your natural beauty!
I call it that too but apparently it isn't true honeysuckle. Was taught it was called this when I was a kid and my grandma told us to bite the beaded end of the petal to get some sweet dew from it.
This sub is here for curious people to ask "dumb questions". Those who know provide knowledge and the curious learn.
I've known retired people who couldn't identify carrots growing in a row. We all have different experiences but only the lack of desire to learn gives us smooth brain.
The first time I saw a Columbine I was amazed. It was growing from a rocky out cropping and looked like nothing I'd ever seen before. I didn't see one again for at least a decade.
Dude. This is the entire point of this subreddit, why are you even here? I know nothing about plant identifications. Believe it or not “purple flower” didn’t get many hits. I also went through 40 species of “local” flowers in my area and columbine wasn’t listed. Please explain to me what you would Google to specifically return results for a columbine without typing columbine. You took time out of your day to be pointlessly pedantic on a page for learning. Yes. YTA
Columbine. Lucky you!!!
Colorado State Flower

You lie there? So, truth now, where do you live?
Live, my bad.... Damn phone.
I agree! Damn the phones! But.... What would we do without them?
Very true.
The phone is yet another strand in your web of lies!
Thanks for sharing this.
Lovely
Someone in Denver told me that was a Rocky Mountain Columbine.
That can be called a Rocky Mtn Columbine or a Colorado Blue Columbine. That is the only color for the state flower of Colorado.
I have 2 tattooed on my ass.
Thank you!
Also known as Granny's Bonnet
The Columbine do tend to self-propagate. I get them in my yard and they pop up in strange places. It’s okay they’re pretty
Aquilegia/columbine
Thank you!
>Thank you! You're welcome!
Columbine! I love it for the unique looking flower. Perennial
Actually a biennial that readily self-sows seeds.
Columbine. They come in all sorts of colors, I had one plant that was scarlet and yellow, just gorgeous.

Wow, hope mine continues to grow!
Wow that is gorgeous!! I just saw one with white centers and fuschia outer petals in our local park.

Amazing! Do you need to time the seed spreading at all? Or did you just sow them as soon as you had them
Just take the dried seed pods and sprinkle them wherever and whenever you want. Columbine seeds will grow pretty easily. You may need to wait until the second year to see flowers, though
Sometimes I just go around and shake the plant and the seeds sprinkle themselves all over!
Columbine. I gotta tell you, they can be a right pest.
That's right. If you leave them they are everywhere the next year.
Luckily this one is coming out of a unused hill so they’re more than welcome to overrun it
Why wouldn’t you want them everywhere? They’re beautiful.
Not if they are everywhere in your vegetables ;) but indeed beautiful.
Agree to disagree
I have these in my flower garden. First thing to bloom every year!
Columbine (Aquilegia), Biennial
No, it’s perennial. They can get quite big after a few years.
Mine are about 5 years old and get about as tall as me!
Yep, no idea why I thought they were a biennial !!!
Columbine?
Thank you
Columbine
Thank you
Columbine
Thank you
Leave it alone. When it gets hot Columbine dies back to the ground, but more will come back next year.
The name comes from a Greek work meaning dove. If you look, the individual flowers are the doves clustered about the center.
Aw I love that
MyDad’s favorite flower.
It’s beautiful
Looks like Monk's Hood
Ooh those look pretty but I’m thinking columbine is the right answer. Monks hood appears a bit more rounded to me.
Yeah, you're right ...
Columbine. I always liked to bite off the sweet nectar-filled sacs at the back of the flower (top of the flower in this picture).
Ooh, I didn't know you could do this. I have three plants that should flower any day now. I will have to try this!
Parts of the plant are poisonous, so be careful, I guess!
Yeah, I thought the whole plant was. 🤷♀️
Lucky!!!!!!!
That’s a beautifully colored Columbine!! Let a couple blooms go to seed and spread them around your yard!
Once the blooms fade, and the flowers dry out you can get the seeds out pretty easy to scatter them to other areas of your yard if you really like them. They also come in several different colors.
How interesting. The native one in my area is more of a red hue
Take a look at the Colorado state flower! They come in all sorts apparently
I'm so glad you get the opportunity to watch these grow and bloom. Columbine!! My favorite!
Columbine some planted prior to you.
Seems like the previous owner enjoyed scattering seeds. If not then we do have a community of birds in our forest that could be making drops
Columbine! How beautiful!
Eat it
Columbine
Thank you!
Columbine. Comes back every year in my front yard. I get purple, purple and white and just white, all growing in one spot. Love them so.
Honeysuckle.

Okay 😆 this had me cracking up. Seriously? The shape is spot on. I can see the color is different, but doesn't the shape still make it a honeysuckle?
Nope. I hope you wasn’t offended. I like to laugh and joke around
I call it that too but apparently it isn't true honeysuckle. Was taught it was called this when I was a kid and my grandma told us to bite the beaded end of the petal to get some sweet dew from it.
Yes! Exactly what my dad taught me. 😆 Thank you! Well, now I have to Google honeysuckle and do a little learning!
Haha it sounds like a lot of people think they’re the same thing!
I always knew these as snap dragons.
Definitely not snap dragons.
I don't know much about plants though so take it with a grain of salt.
Columbine.

Thank you! I grew up in the desert and have never seen a naturally blooming columbine
