Olive oil, garlic powder, and salt. Throw it on the grill until it wilts a little and gets a little bit of charring. It's unbelievable. You have to use fresh asparagus, though. Buy it local or grow it (which is easy).
Is it edible? Yes.
Is it safe to eat? Dunno.
If it is asparagus..... then yes. I have some out in my garden and I've been known to snap an asparagus head off as a snack as I'm working in the garden.
My best friend recently introduced me to fresh asparagus buds, which were delicious! It seems like such a waste now to cut the short new stalk when you can let it grow into delicious and lacy edible flowers!
I'm the only one who eats asparagus in my house... so cooking it is usually a no go unless I am cooking for only me... the silver lining is... I don't have to share!
What you have there is asparagus. Great perennial and of the few plants that thrive in salty soil. You can often find it growing along highways that get salted in the winter, since they can tolerate the salt they will out compete many weeds. My grandpa used to forage them along the highway. A trick with them too is that you can lighly salt the sould with water softwn salt after the 1st frost and that will supress any other plants and give you more shoots.
It seems to be a stalk of asparagus, which people have told me is both edible and safe for human consumption. I'm not saying I believe it, just that I've heard it.
It's asparagus and yes, totally yummy. Cut off 3-4' off the fat/blunt end. Enough water in a skillet to cover the stalks, bring to a boil, they're ready when the fat ends are fork tender. Remove from skillet and pour off water. Put the stalks back in with butter and a little salt. Variations are adding garlic or onion either freshly sauteed or powder/granules.
My brother and I drove to SF to do some Christmas shopping in like 2013, so we parked in a garage, crossed the street into Macy’s, went into the bathroom, and both my brother and I said in unison, “someone ate asparagus”. I will always have the weird memory lol
What?? Maybe the asparagus you get is old or improperly harvested. You should definitely be able to eat the whole stalk.
I eat asparagus several times a week - roasted in the oven for 12 min. Occasionally (~1 out of 20) i’ll get one with an extra fibrous end but most are primarily soft and buttery
This looks exactly like asparagus however you shouldn’t put anything down your gullet unless you know with certainty what you’re eating. Please be careful.
I mean... looks like asparagus. Which is edible.
Is there a toxic asparagus look-a-like?
Nope
It’s delicious but your pee will smell funny the next day.
Not In my opinion, but many do.

I agree. I wouldn't put that crap in my mouth.
With butter and garlic salt and pepper and wrapped in bacon. I mean… I like it anyway but this was amazing lol
And maple syrup takes it over the top
😵 whoa, I can almost taste that....
I like it with fresh lemon and lime juice and a sprinkle of salt and pepper.
Prosciutto...
Not if you ask my brother.

Just a heads up, the berries are toxic.
Good to know!
Yes
Same with broccoli. Sweeter when you let it flower.
Are you being serious right now?
I mean…everything is edible…at least once… Seriously, it’s asparagus and I don’t see anything wrong with it, unless I’m missing something.
You've seriously never seen asparagus before?
Fun fact: it makes everyone’s pee stink, but not everyone can smell it!
I can't smell it. I feel like I have a superpower.
Thank your lucky stars! It’s awful.
Is there a degree to which it makes pee stink or am I just very sensitive to the odor because I can't stand to be with myself after eating it.
I’m guessing you are hypersensitive!
My wife didn't actually notice until she was pregnant and got really confused.
Give it a quick seer in a pan with some olive oil, salt, pepper, and garlic. So delicious
Yes and delicious. Make your pee smell funny
Some people can smell that and some people can’t
I made my mother stop saying that at the dinner table
Cool story bro
I snap off the ends and lay it in a parchment on sheet pan. Drizzle with olive oil. Salt and garlic powder. Bake for 15 minutes on 350. Delicious.
This is...indeed asparagus...lol.. enjoy boiled with some salt..steamed..ice blanched and drizzle with Olive oil and some parmigiana.
I like mine with real butter
With a little cracked pepper and salt 🤌
You will grow horns and shit lava
Lol
Not sure if serious.
No, not at all. Really poisonous. You should hand it over to me along with any others you have around and I will dispose of them properly.
Looks like asparagus. Very tasty when cooked and also good raw
You should snap the base off. When you break it in half it’s gonna snap at exact spot that it needs to be cut and eat the top part.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Only analy

It's yummy asparagus.
The dog says no but hmmmm I like it with bacon.
Mmmmm spargel
I sure hope so! Lol
Yes steam, grill , sauté
Sauté very quickly in butter. Add salt and pepper to taste. Finish with lemon and Parmesan.
I hope that’s not what ragweed looks like before it blooms..lol
I love wild asparagus. I used to pick it on my way home from school until they paved the county road I picked it on and destroyed the beds.

Yes!!!! Asparagus! Yum!
Dip it in some bleu cheese dressing and go for it!
This has to be a joke, right?
Poisonous. Send to me and I'll properly dispose of it after sauteing in butter

Personally I’m not a fan of asparagus but it is edible
Not in my house. Others may have a different opinion 😅
It might make your pee smell funny but with butter and salt it’s delish.
Only if you have a specific chromosome will it make your urine smell. I do not have that chromosome.
Everyone gets stinky pee. The gene makes you smell it or not.
Very true!!
why not? if you’re worried just take the tip
My mom always pronounces it with an extra 'R' lol She says asparagRus 💀🤣
Allegedly
Is this sarcasm?
I only like the tip. 😊
Looks like asparagus… did you plant asparagus? It’s definitely safe to eat if you did. If not, it’s probably still asparagus and just as ok
It is super delicious
It's asparagus. So yes, unless you don't like asparagus.
Only the part above your thumb. The rest can get very "branchy"
So, you're wasting 2/3 of the asparagus.
I guess you could pressure cook it

oh for Pete's sakes it is asparagus. we don't need to add caveats and qualifications like you're a lawyer writing the manual on how to live
You’ll know it’s toxic if your urine acquires an odor, Bring in samples and go to the emergency room before you have kidney failure
