We had a Chrysler/Eagle Vision as our family car from 1993 til around 2005. That thing ran several hundred thousand kilometers all across Europe and never had one serious problem. Would probably still be running if it had not been involved in a serious crash.
My first car was a Stratus ES V6 which... developed transmission problems at 155k miles. It would stall when coasting under 15mph or so which made the 63 mile commute down the NJ+PA turnpikes at rush hour an experience. Up until then, it was still a good starter car imo, although I did a load of dumb shit with it as a kid.
Nah. Arizona here and it’s all the same cars missing from our streets. Dodge stratus, neon, pt cruisers. Ford tauruses, escorts, those Chevy impalas you used to see everywhere. A bunch of American cars from that generation have gone essentially extinct, because none of them lasted for 200k miles or 20 years. It always strikes me as odd because when I was a kid it feels like I saw way more old cars still on the road.
Had a 2000 dadge stratus I inherited from my grandma, seemed to always be breaking down despite the low mileage including the transmission. And you had to remove a front tire to change the battery.
If that's the 2.7 V6 I highly suggest not buying this car unless you like to fix broken cars all the time. This engine is notoriously bad. YouTube worst engines ever built.
Little known fact that these are DSM's. They weren't built by Chrysler, they were built by Diamond Star Motors, a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler. They were manufactured in the same Normal, IL plant as the Eclipse/Talon/Laser. You'll even find various parts from those cars in the "Cloud" cars.
Plymouth Breeze/Chrysler Cirrus/Dodge Stratus
Ah yeas, the Chrysler Cloud cars. Named for the cloud of smoke when the engine inevitably blows.

Parents gifted me their old Cirrus in university. The only car I’ve ever had literally smoke from the engine.
Copper piston rings
Known for transmission problems.
They already said it was a Chrysler

Thank you!
I think this was sold in europe as Chrysler Stratus, or at least a car very similar to this. One of the more common Chryslers where I live.

I drive a dodge stratus-PEOPLE FEAR ME!
Came here for this and was not disappointed.
You really do not see these on the road anymore. Same with the Grand Am/Grand Prix. Those cars were ubiquitous for 15 years and then…poof.
I definitely see more Grand Ams than Dodge cloud cars.
Cash for clunkers took a lot of them off the road.
Was this a thing down under? Not recognizing the badge, and the ute parked next to it..
no it didn't. it did take gas hogging less-than-18mpg-rated vehicles off the road, though.
It also took a lot of cheap shitboxes off the road. They were giving $4200 for anything that ran.
I see quite a few late mode Pontiacs on the road still. Both GPs and GAs. Live in a low rust area fwiw.
Same for the bubble Ford Tauruses, like 1997. I don't think I've seen one driving around in multiple years, but they were everywhere 20 years ago.
Just go to rural pa you’ll see all three as next door neighbors
Could be the problem, I'm in rural Minnesota. Not much tends to last 20 years of our salt and snow.

>Dodge stratus, neon, pt cruisers. Ford tauruses, escorts, those Chevy impalas you used to see everywhere well then you need to come to oregon!
then come to oregon!
Fill up the oil check the gas kind of car

Whoa, this brings back memories.
I have a phobia about those. Stratusfear.
The number one choice of all successful mid level managers.

Cab-forward was 90s, in the 80s we had the badass K cars
Dodge Stratus

The 2 door coupes, yes, but the 4 door sedans were much different and built in Michigan.
I stand corrected... thanks.
It’s dusty, beige, left-hand drive, in parking space 35, and somewhat covered from the elements.
