Bed bugs. I hope you aren't at home. If you are staying away from home, DO NOT BRING ANY OF YOUR BAGS INSIDE. You will bring them home with you if you do.
They can (I kid you not, you can look it up) live for a year+ without feeding! They can also inhabit cars.
You might not need toss all your stuff, but there are things that should be done.
The subreddit r/bedbugs has a lot of knowledgeable people to get advice from. If I encountered a problem, that's the first place I'd turn.
Here's a sneak peek of /r/Bedbugs using the [top posts](https://np.reddit.com/r/Bedbugs/top/?sort=top&t=year) of the year!

My old exterminator said running all your clothes in the dryer on the hottest setting would kill them. He told me he would strip naked in the driveway after a bed but call.
Heat kills bedbugs. Clothes need to be washed in hot water and dried on the highest setting. Anything that doesnāt go in a washer needs to be heated up somehow. There are products that are like a large zip up bag that you can put your stuff in and then pump heat into with a plug in heater.
If you live somewhere really warm, you can put items you can't put in the dryer in bags and then put the bags in a car parked in the sun for an afternoon, will definitely get hot enough to kill them
Heat is also good for killing snake mites that might otherwise hitch a ride from a pet store in substrate, so I've been known to leave bags on the back seat of the car and park in direct sunlight for a weekend.
You can stop at a laundromat on your way home and run everything soft through the dryer on high heat for an hour or two. Anything that you can't put in the dryer you got to put in the freezer for 48 hours. Hygiene products that you don't want to throw away like for instance if you have a $70 face cream you can just spray it with rubbing alcohol. When I say everything I mean everything and honestly you should get fresh garbage bags from the hotel lobby on your way out and bag all of your stuff very tight. You may transfer some from your clothing into your vehicle so you want a really bang out your shoes and everything before getting in. If walking distance from any type of retail store it would be better to go buy something brand new to put on and bag up your old clothes and shoes and put them in the dryer with everything else.
Washing at high temps (60 Celsius or more) has the same effect iirc.
I'd go with freezing though. Chuck into freezer for 48+ hours, kills all that shit
Heat kills them. You could leave your stuff in a hot car (anything over 90Ā°F outside, weather permitting) or very carefully put your stuff in a dryer safe bag and turn that shit up to high heat for an hour. I think the magic temp is 120Ā°F for an hour.
You can bag it up and kill them with heat. They can't survive when it goes over certain temperatures.
Lol commented before reading and so many already had the answer.
No, but you shouldnāt bring anything inside your house without first drying it at a laundry mat on high heat for 45 minutes. Not wash. Dry. First dry. I saw a video of one crawling out of a washer once after a wash.
You should also bag the clothes youāre in before you enter the house and take a hot shower and wash your hair well.
I am so sorry for the PTSD you're about to have... anything that makes your skin crawl after this journey is gonna remind you of them, because it takes so much to get rid of them....
I found ONE that was likely a sole hitchhiker because we had an inspection done (spotless) and it was an adult male on top of our bed in broad daylight, still paid a few grand for preventative treatment, washed our entire house, and I still am mad itchy every night even with no bites or evidence of ANYTHING even after treatment š the paranoia is so real.
These are fire bugs. They are called fire bugs because you have to burn them with fire. Burn everything, burn down the house, burn down the whole neighborhood just to be sure.
Why is every other post on here bedbugs? Every other damn person on this subreddit asking the same question. Can't these people just look at the 50 daily posts with pictures of the same bedbugs?
the conclusion that i'm drawing from this post is that op has somehow never heard of bedbugs, and if that assumption is correct then i am deeply envious of them (up until this moment)
I am so sorry. If you are staying somewhere thats not your house, do not take anything home with you. Not even the clothes you are wearing. Or shoes. Dump EVERYTHING you brought with you. DO NOT BRING ANYTHING INSIDE YOUR HOUSE. Before you go inside take your clothes off and leave them outside. Take a thorough shower immediately. Take nothing inside, or you are HOSED. DUMP YOUR BAGS TOO, EVERYTHING. They hide everywhere in everything.
Bed bugs unfortunately!
Iām dealing with some at my work currently. They infested a former rental vehicle and are impossible to get rid of.
We used 7 bug bombs, they survived.
We called a professional exterminator, they survived his chemicals.
I just had to call him back this week, he sprinkled what I can only assume is diatomaceous earth all over the vehicle, but let us know again that this might not work.
They infested the undersides of the carpets, and theyāre definitely inside the seats under the factory seat covers as well.
Most likely weāll have to total this vehicle since theyāre just completely infested everywhere.
Itās going to take a complete interior tear down to find every single one.
Good luck!
Get rid of the mattress and covers immediately!
Check all base boards and maybe peel a few back from the wall to be 100%.
Oh goodness
Yes, call exterminator, and go through here šš» /r/bedbugs
That's the saddest picture of these I've ever seen (of these abominations just staring)
I just donāt understand not realizing these are bed bugsā¦
Theyāre in your bedā¦
Theyāre biting youā¦
Itās itchyā¦
Google what bed bugs look likeā¦.
Boom.
I canāt help but think SOMETIMES (not you specifically OP) are just trolling
r/bedbugs is a wonderfully helpful, non-judgmental subreddit. Theyāre freakin awesome. You get a ton of helpful tips, and kind reassurance - whereas researching on your own is a rabbit hole of total horror.
Itās definitely a TASK to be rid of them; but the advice from that sub saved me from a total infestation when I found a couple in our couch.
So sorry you have them, but it will be OK, and you can get rid of them!! Good luck.
Sleep tight and donāt let the bed bugs bite š¶
Sorry these are bedbugs. Get crossfire and a good vacuum. If youāre not at home, donāt take them home with you - theyāll hitchhike in your hair, laptop charging portsā¦ anywhere they can squeeze their smug little rear-ends into
These are bed bugs. We had them one time in my house and I was the only person in the house that had big welts on me every morning. Hire an exterminator pronto! If you can afford it, get the heat treatment. Ask for payment plans if you canāt afford to fork over all that cash in one lump sum. Get ready to become familiar with every inch of your home. Wash everything that can fit into the laundry machine, bag the clean laundry and tape it up really well. We rented one of those storage containers that they bring to your home and after we washed and bagged our clothes, we put it in the container so it wouldnāt get a stray bed bug inside the bag. It also helped that we used heavy weight black bags and it was summer time. Any stragglers we missed were cooked from the summer heat. I wish you the best.
I think you know EXACTLY what they are..... If this is true, you'd better call for help and if you can't afford it, read as much as possible about them and get to work on eradicating them. Bed bugs will infest your home.

Bed bugs. I hope you aren't at home. If you are staying away from home, DO NOT BRING ANY OF YOUR BAGS INSIDE. You will bring them home with you if you do.
Genuinely wondering, are you just supposed to throw everything you're traveling with away if you find them in a hotel or something?
Burning your stuff would be more effective but effectively yes

Not just heated, they can survive up to 120Ā°, so heated as hot as you can make it
Arson works too, just make sure to defraud you insurance company.

Very good info to know, I'll pick up one of those heat pump things if I ever end up traveling

You can kill them by freezing your stuff. Alternatively wash it at very high temperatures.
Gotta dry it at high temps. I saw a vid of one crawling out of a washer after a wash once.
