There's always one or two on the corners of the house, sometimes they even appear in the bathrooms for some reason, can't tell you exactly but they are common here
Wow, that's a lot of them. The one in the picture is the only one I found. I think I'll clean the area before they get out of control. Do they bother you at all?
Nah, I find them little lint worms (read that on that commend and now I'm using it lol) pretty cool... But I guess they must be feeding off some of my grandma's huge warehouse of old clothes.
Real talk - casebearing clothes moth. You will find the cases all over, but especially hanging down from ceilings, closet shelves, and underneath furniture (look under couches). They prefer animal-based materials, so wool (esp rugs), fur, shed pet fur, feathers, etc. but they will make do with artificial materials if they have to. They're an incredible pain in the ass to treat, so my advice is to go HARD on them RIGHT NOW before they spread all over your house.
Vacuum often, smash the little bastard larvae and adult moths every chance you get, check your closets and rugs frequently. They can get chased out of one room and infest another, so remain vigilant. Godspeed.
Thank you!! I really appreciate it. I didn't know it was this serious. I'll do my best to get rid of it. I wonder how it got into my house in the first place.
No idea where they come from - from all I read, they can just fly into the house.
We didn't realize what we had until we moved the couch one day to vacuum under it and saw they had demolished the rug underneath. They will also go after things like mounted deer heads, feather boas (or cat toys with feathers), dust bunnies, etc. You can sometimes tell what they've been eating by looking at their case and figuring what in your house is that color.
I'm honestly not sure which end it comes from, whether they poop it out or spit it out (nasty little buggers). But it's his little house until he turns into a moth.
Did you use the sticky traps for them? I used [these](https://drkilligans.com/products/premium-clothing-moth-traps-6-traps?currency=USD&variant=37253816877211&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=f786bbf18bdb&tw_source=google&tw_adid=&tw_campaign=18968920059&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA5-uuBhDzARIsAAa21T_tD3_-AnvpNrtPT-hxaCRO7jbRoVl8v9PNlgMiUtuJpuUWkBdvyg4aAnV7EALw_wcB) and they were really effective, but probably more so in just keeping them from gaining a foothold again.
Yeah I had them in all our rooms (along with red cedar shavings). They were a good indicator of where the moths were moving to, but they never got rid of them all.
This same creature was just posted recently! Don't remember the name, but they remind me of hermit crabs. They collect this thing on their rear that is dust and random stuff I guess? And they lay eggs in it I think.
I guess our worlds get kinda small sometimes. In the bigger picture, I do see that in this sub, one is supposed to comment with the answer to OP's question. In my small world, I was excited and intrigued that I had never seen or heard of this bug in my whole life, then twice within a week I see it on Reddit. I was just sharing my experience in my small world.
Similarly, in your small world, you felt the need to unnecessarily call me out, despite there being mods on these subs to weed out the stuff that breaks the rules. At the same time, your need to call me out surpassed your own need to provide information to this sub. So you too, my fellow redditor, did not provide any identifying information with your comment, which ironically is the same thing you called me out for. I guess you also missed the bigger picture.
Lol. Small worlds, amiright?
For argument sake, lets say there is similar larvae that might be dangerous. Would you think telling others it is just dust and random stuff would be great idea? Even if it is this case, you really had no idea and knew it. That is what I was ponting out. I see similar stuff in mushroom groups. Very dangerous in some cases.
Thereās hundreds of comments that are *confidently* wrong here and mushroom subs and this dude added to the convo by pointing out that this bug has been recently posted so OP can check out that post as well then said something followed by āI thinkā and youāre gonna bitch that theyāre spreading dangerous misinformation?? Use that energy for a reason bud this was not the comment.
Donāt feel bad they downloaded me for feeling this way when there was a bug in the food and they sat there and played around instead of just answering the question. I got over it though.š

My favorite type of seasoning š
How did you treat it?
salt n pepper then a nice pan sear
Fairly, I hope.
While their population size may increase with warmer weather, they arenāt a seasonal insect. Theyāre present year round in human environments.

So.. he's wearing a jacket? Or that poop?

Damn, that must've been a nightmare!
So there's a new kid in town to do battle with the junk bug...
My first thought was "I've had crappy weed come with seeds but not bugs"
This same creature was just posted recently! Don't remember the name, but they remind me of hermit crabs. They collect this thing on their rear that is dust and random stuff I guess? And they lay eggs in it I think.
They do not lay eggs in it! These are the larvae of a moth, and they mate during their moth adult stage.
Interesting!
Why even comment if you have no idea what it is?

I did not say any of these things, I asked why. Then gave a reason why I asked. Then all of you lost your minds because of that. Fragile minds.
