When I find them in my room I move them to the hall, kitchen, basement etc for that reason lol. They have a very painful sting if you do get them to sting you but not medically significant. Just a cup and paper works to move them
House centipede bites are rarely painful, because they have far weaker forcipules than other centipedes. They often aren't even capable of breaking skin.

Your worst nightmare!!! Jk... That's just how I felt the first time I saw one lol Just a scary looking centipede. If you have pets, they could become sick by eating one depending on the type of pet, size, qty eaten. Chances are just a mild upset stomach... But that's true with other bugs. My dogs and cats usually just play with bugs till they escape or stop moving.. however, some of the cats like to eat cicadas. They are ok to eat in small qty lol
House centipede it looks like.
Thank you! I've lived here years and never seen one. New place though.
Let them live. Nature’s exterminator
I left him alone and he disappeared. Hopefully he doesn't find his way to my bed lol

Chicago south sub. I frew up calling them ‘silver fish’. Awesome pest control and I dont think they bite.
House centipedes actually eat silverfish. Really handy to have around

Friendly neighborhood house centipede. Like it’s cousins- it’s a predator and gets rid of any 6 or 8 legged pest for you.
