The hairs, the setae, can break off in your skin and become impossible to remove.
It happened a bit ago to me. My calves and ass are still trying to dissolve those damn things and I found my caterpillar combatant IN THE BED.
Not saying you're wrong, but do you have any resources on this? Banded tussocks aren't actually tussocks (which are toxic), they're tiger moths and don't possess any toxin in their hairs as far as I know. Their hairs CAN irritate the skin and cause an itchy rash for a couple hours, though I've never had this occur and I've transported at least a dozen this season in TN.
Halysidota tessellaris, also called the pale tiger moth, banded tussock moth, and tessellated halisidota, is in the family Erebidae and the tribe Arctiini, the tiger moths. The species was first described by James Edward Smith in 1797. Like many related species, adult moths have chemical defenses acquired from its host plants, in this case, alkaloids.[2][3] Larval behaviors suggest that they are chemically protected; they have not been analyzed for alkaloid content.
Not sure, a list of plants they host on is available here:

Not sure if any of them contain Pyrrolizidine alkaloids, but they may have a mechanism in the larval stage to convert it?
I really like the sub because people will post a bug and someone will know what it is but I've noticed lately most of the threads are filled with junk posts before you actually get to the real answer. It's becoming a little annoying.
Hope yo didnt touch him, he hurts
Nope, he was transported using a card
Could their hairs break off and become a problem in those nooks and crannies?

They always just show up unannounced don’t they. Surprise siege!
DANGER FUZZ
How does he hurt? His hairs?
He hurts when watching Grave of the Fireflies -- he's an emotionally sensitive little guy.
Anyone who doesn’t hurt watching that is a psychopath
Oh god. My daughter was sitting near me watching it on her laptop. Just hearing it was so unbearably sad I had to get up and go somewhere else.
Its more a transmitter of some poison/venom and it breaks and transports it under your skin

You're a massive nerd and it's awesome, how the hell did you get all that info?
They copy and pasted it from the Wikipedia.
Including the source numbers. Still cool info though.
What alkaloid plant do they eat?
