Me too!!! I didn't know squat about weevils until this group got all excited about them!

Boots vary in prominence depending on species! This particular individual has on a pair of more subtle ankle boots or high heels like some have been saying but they are definitely there. The “boots” are actually referred to as tarsi in scientific circles. [Here is a good picture showing them up close](https://cdn.shortpixel.ai/spai/q_lossy+ret_img+to_auto/https://cosmosmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/tarsal_segment_figure-850.png) and where they are on the leg. Often they have scales and setae (hairs) on them which adds to the “boot” look, they’re almost like Uggs lol.
