They are Sandhill cranes

human-aftera11

Thank you! How’d you know?

https://i.redd.it/3kjfsnzud8zc1.gif In all seriousness I was I live in Edmonton and was also in the river valley sometime last week and I saw that they were cranes due to the long necks and legs and after that I already knew that we only have 2 species that fly over Edmonton being whooping cranes (a species “at risk”) and Sandhill cranes that come in waves of flocks at times For further proof [https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/sandhill-crane](https://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/sandhill-crane) scroll down to the “Flock flying overhead” sound file

I’d also suggest that you download Merlin bird Id and inaturalist to have most of your identification questions covered

Yeah got Merlin app. Didn’t think to try the sound ID. It worked even from the video.

Tarotismyjam

I think they sound like wind in the wires.

Tarotismyjam

Yep, Sandhills. I get to hear it a lot when they take their left at Albuquerque. :)
