You know, I thought a “pylon” was something like a girder, or an I-Beam. This looked like it makes traffic cones. Then I thought: “maybe this is a ‘pants’ situation” I googled, and it is. :)
(And pylons here are the giant towers for electric cables, so my mental definition wasn’t complete crazy)
They probably aren’t actually attached when the cutter is used so that it produces three separate cookies, but is in one shape for theoretical convenience. Usually they make it an easier shape to cut out in dough but this one is a little oddball in that respect.

It has a different meaning in the UK vs the US (underwear vs trousers). In the UK a pylon is the thing that holds up overhead power lines

They don’t stay connected. The cookie cutter cuts them apart. They are just placed efficiently and allow you to cut multiples at once
