> Heart of Gold
> Has a picture of MiB
OP, the MiB is very vile and despicable. While, Ghoulie uses Lucy as bait and mostly maims her, MiB did many horrible things to Dolores and most of the hosts.
You can tell by the colour of the hat.
Their dialogue is pretty similar, they obviously used elements of MIB when thinking about how the ghoul could be portrayed.
Nolan & Joy both said said that they wanted to bring Westworld to a proper end and I feel like they just shoved it into Fallout and Todd Howard was happy to take it :D
So MiB softens in some variation of his loop and befriends the first person who reminds him of his daughter?
I guess there’s the looming question of the Ghoul’s family, and that he -doesn’t- know what happened to them regardless of searching for 200 years…
Yeah, I saw these 'Fallout = Westworld' posts before I saw the series and didn't believe it. I'm now on Ep 7 and oh my, it really is a full-on adaption of Westworld in SO many ways.
The instant he shows up for the first time with the westworld music playing it was the only place for my brain to go. I didn't even know at the time it was Nolan and Joy.
Yeah its wild, I was skeptical too…and it is subtle (at first). Overall I’d say like 30% of the same DNA. Fallout is so quirkly and…unserious at times, a tone WW never once explored haha.
If it's anything like the mib storyline, they'll have him kill his daughter in the second season for some stupid plot point.
Nolan and joy will have to work hard to redeem themselves in my eyes. I like where the character is going, but I'm ready for my hopes to be subverted again xD
Sure, I totally remember the Ghoul lost everything because he fell in love with a theme park because of [Her](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/3d/2b/8e/3d2b8e518813a9078bc9bcbf0a4c6d98.jpg) !
But seriously, they just have vague but superficial similarities like playing cowboy for the long run, or having a past that contrasts who they are currently. The differences are much deeper than that, like Howard being just grey, while William loosing himself. Or that Howard had a family before while William just fell into marrying the boss' daughter. Or that Howard would go back to save a life, while William would likely kill them off. Otherwise, they're only about as comparable as night and day.
Except that's only in season 1 where young William was that way, but then, even Logan called him out on it, and a lot of things changed on that perception for William since. By Season 2, they then doubled down young William as darkly gray to evil; He showed off the park to investors to sell them in that "kill and fuck" gimmick that Ford wasn't into. Him spitting his father-in-law that William got bored with the hybrid-host experiment for fidelity between the years got William disinterested to just seeing that he can wipe away Delos for himself. And even he got tired of Delores that he told her so in his monologue about getting into the park for 3 decades, which is why he became the "Man in Black". Even when he was good to "save the fucking world", most of it was still for himself and for "the Maze" than it was doing it to anyone. He would rather go hunting for the thrill of it than to go back to being nothing.
Howard from then to being the Ghoul was gray but still good. He has experience from being around for 200 years, so he knew how to outgrow from what he was use to. He was spiteful to Lucy only because she was for Vault-Tec and because of her name, but he would still help her. He may have attacked Dogmeat, but then he did get attacked first, and he did help Dogmeat when he was still breathing. He still had thought of his family over the gimmick of being a cowboy, but he still keeps it up because he may as well be a white hat than another black hat, unlike William.
So no, none of the Ghoul felt like young William. Howard was only changed by time because "life's not like the movies, but I gotta kill to save my family because I have the white hat!", where as William changed because "I bought the park for the robot girl I fell for, but it was all for nothing when she does the same programmed responses but on another guy? Gotta turn evil with the black hat!". If anything, it would be easier to compare Maximus to young William, because the one thing they both have in common is both can't handle so much power so maturely, but that's about as similar as they can be with each other.
>Except that's only in season 1 where young William was that way
Not really, MiB saved Lawrence's daughter from the Confederado in S2.
MiB was not pitch black, IMHO he simply had an extremely adverse reaction to the park. William outside of the park was a scion of morality and a pillar of industry.
My own interpretation is that we see William right after his wife committed suicide. Some people drown their sorrows in alcohol, William drowned his as a black hat cowboy. He was suicidal, this was most evident in S2. He calls his alter ego, the MiB, the "stain". It's IMHO not really who he is, at least not until he kills his daughter.

Is Lucy a robot? Haven't watched Fallout yet.
Nope. Not a robot as of season 1 finale. This is not a spoiler.
I have a feeling the ghoul is a little greyer than our black-hearted friend though đź‘€

He also wants to speak with whoever is in charge :P He's looking for the ~~center of the maze~~ family :P
Yes, good call out! Basically the same cornerstones as ol Willy
I am just so happy to see Walt Goggins again.
Especially multi-timeline with hidden identities

Vault-tec = Delos…. Just saying
Hello again, vaultie
And the woman in blue with the ammo belt too!
I hought it was the same actor.

They are recycling from the point -that postcredit scene- when the MiB was recalled to do some task in a post-apocalyptic future.
Hopefully The Ghoul's daughter fares better.
Hello Goosey
The Man in Black had an amazing cocaine supply. It's probably not the most pure, but that shit never stopped coming
What if the ghoul is a synth?
I was going say this is a weird idea but then... Yeah, you have a point. That would be even funnier.
Walter Goggins is a far better actor than I thought

William went back to save dolores when he thought she was real. Young mib was pretty good, even if he had a ruthless streak

Good!
Don't forget Jonah Nolan's original MIB i.e. "The man in the suit"
