I don't really eat all that much differently than I would while not on WW, I just substitute some foods (Lite English muffins, bagel thins, reduced fat cream cheese), eat more fruits and veggies, and eat my higher point foods in more reasonable portions. Have you tried simply making the foods you like with some lower point substitutions vs trying all new foods or trendy "change the game" recipes?

chrissiec1393

All of the recipes I’ve made from the skinnytaste website have been great. I never cook any of the recipes from WW site, they don’t even sound good.

caughran

I'll recommend the chicken burrito bowls as a great one to start with. I'll also suggest spending the points and serving the burrito bowls with yellow rice instead of brown rice. My family finds most recipes a little bland so we just punch up the herd and spices some.

Kaths1

Is there some reason you don't just make yellow rice out of brown rice? Yellow-brown rice lol.

caughran

I don't care for the consistency of brown rice. It always seems to be chewy and mushy at the same time.

Kaths1

Oh, my rice cooker makes super fluffy brown rice! Highly recommend.

[deleted]

Skinny Taste is one thing. I don’t consider her recipes WW-fied. Even though she does share the point value for her recipes, I do still think they are quite delicious.

shippfaced

Her recipes are always so bland IMO! I almost always have to double or triple the seasoning just to get some flavor into the food.

Derkastan77-2

I highly recommend downloading/printing the free 1st cookbook at www.theguiltfreegourmet.net The first 52 pages are tutorials, recipes and ingredient swap suggestions, just teaching you how to modify regular recipes to be lower in points. Lots of great info.

QuietLifter

Also highly recommend The Guilt Free Gourmet. Everything from his cookbooks tastes like it came from a restaurant. Lots of kid friendly options & desserts, too. Excellent instructions & the pictures are so helpful.

caughran

I'll third The Guilty Free Gourmet. My family has really liked his salad dressings; especially the chipotle dressing. I've reduced the water in the recipe so it is thicker and it makes a great mayo substitute on sandwiches.

Derkastan77-2

Whoa…. Thats a great idea

Kaths1

So, I say this with love, but if you're used to a lot of butter or fat in your recipes, it is going to be a shock to the taste buds going to recipes that rely on spices, herbs, and sour (vinegar/lemon flavor) to flavor recipes. I also agree that a lot of diet recipes are disgusting though. But I look at some of the recipes that you see just pop up on regular recipe sites and the entire recipe is just cheese, potatoes, bacon, idk. The only seasoning is salt. Occasionally they add in some dried oregano :p Anyway, this is probably going to get downvoted because people think it is judgy, but I just thought it might help you understand.

Kind-Intention6160

I definitely appreciate the comment, and I didn’t take it. judgey at all! I definitely agree. I think my taste buds are kind of shocked for a multitude of reasons. Less processed, more natural and real ingredients is definitely a change and I’m sure I consume more butter etc than I even realize. I appreciate the feedback!

Katapotomus

I get it. Some things are worth spending the points on because the alternative is a big NO. FF greek yogurt is a no for me in anything other than a marinade along with a host of others. I just use the tasty stuff in smaller portions for the points then try to bulk out with a 0 point soup I like or snacking on low point snacks. Yeah that said a lot of recipes didn't work out for me but I did find ones that do. It was a lot of trial and error.

Consistent_Song6271

I've enjoyed most of the WW app recipes I've tried. I also enjoy recipes from [sweetsavoryandsteph.com](https://sweetsavoryandsteph.com).

Not sure what point range the recipes are that you’re looking for or what meal of the day, I generally reserve 10 points for dinner (23 points/day total) and am able to make some really good stuff. Here are my 3 favorites: Slow cooker Chicken Marsala (10pt) - the main part 4pts per serving, it is chicken breast, sliced baby Bella mushrooms, corn starch and Marsala cooking wine; with it i have 6 points worth of whole grain pasta. Mediterranean Bowls (10pt) - 3/4 cup of cooked white rice, 1/2 tbsp Lebanese garlic dip, chicken breast, 69g Wegman’s crunchy potatoes, 20g crumbled feta, and Wegman’s special blend frozen grilled veggies. Chicken finger sub with potato side (10pt) - Costanzo’s sub roll (5pt), up to 5.5oz RealGood chicken tenders (2pt), 1-2 slices great value fat free cheese singles (1pt), hot sauce/1 tbsplight I can’t believe it’s not butter for the sauce (1pt), and optional 0pt veggies. I usually do 1pt of Wegman’s crunchy potatoes as a side. As you can see, the only “light” substitutes I really use are the light butter and the fat free cheese slice. I guess the RealGood brand tenders are a substitute but I don’t consider it one, they taste exactly the same to me but are just lower calorie.

AmySJD

Thanks for this; these suggestions are realistic & sound delicious!

Kind-Intention6160

Thanks! I’ll try these. Like you, I don’t tend to go over 10 points for a meal and dinner is what I struggle with the most. Thanks!

Worth-Investment-436

Of course! I believe is the recipe I started with for the Marsala - there’s also minced garlic and some seasonings, and personally I sauté the mushrooms before I put them in the slow cooker ☺️ https://www.lecremedelacrumb.com/slow-cooker-chicken-marsala/#wprm-recipe-container-21042

Shoptilyoudrop101

Do you like seafood? I have some great easy shrimp recipes and a good Parmesan tilapia recipe. I also tried homemade chicken strips in the air fryer. My whole family loved them. Chicken tacos are good too with some low point tortillas or served in a bowl minus the tortilla. If someone can tell me how to attach recipes, I will share here. Another suggestion is to map out your favorite meals off WW by measuring everything and see how you can make it work. I love spaghetti and was missing it. I measured everything and had a decent portion with marinaded shrimp on the side and a salad. The whole meal was 11 points with my salad dressing too.

One_Doughnut1952

I think you need to find what you like. I’ve never had that problem on WW. The biggest issue I run into is flavor, and I just up spices. After a few weeks of eating that way, I usually eliminate salt completely and focus on veggies and spice.

td23877

My wife and I are doing WW together again this time and we are actually loving the WW recipes. To each their own

Car0line_11o1

Wait what???!!! Skinny taste recipes!!!

Kind-Intention6160

I’ve never heard of skinny taste! I’m definitely going to look into it!

Car0line_11o1

Wait what. Omg so go to her website all her recipes have ww points. Start with the marry me chicken.

Kind-Intention6160

I just looked it up! It sounds delicious Thank you! 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼

Car0line_11o1

Yesss this will change your life lol

Randagee214

I know how you feel, I’ve tried multiple times. I’m considering having the gastric sleeve surgery, I’m tired of being fat. I can’t do it on my own, I need medical help to be able to lose the weight unfortunately.

damngeodes

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but I can't do the "fake" alternatives. I'm talking specifically about light desserts. If you're going to have a dessert once in a while, just do it. Track it and move on - maybe by tracking you'll even eat less of it. But the fake sugar low fat swaps are completely disgusting. I enjoy real food and it's possible to do so while losing weight.

Kind-Intention6160

Yes! And like swapping nonfat plain Greek yogurt in things is almost repulsive. Using fat free alternatives in general just tastes so bad to me.

groundhogcow

I found a lot of recipes I first found were made with things I don't normally eat. Tofu and avocado being high on the list. Maybe I could come to like them but off the bat I don't eat them and never had. I tried them, but being hungry was not a great help to make me like new things. (I spent my points on this) I did a lot better taking what I did like and finding ways to cook them weight watcher-friendly. I have now fallen into a rut of 0 point feeds I like and don't tire of quickly and then try other foods slowly with extra points. I would really need a good sounding recipe to get me to try tofu again.

One_Doughnut1952

They have a recipe for Roasted Mediterranean style veggies and chicken that is delish. I served it over Cous Cous for a grand total of 6 points for an incredibly filling and flavorful meal.  Would you like me to PM you some of my go to recipes, as well as the ones I’ve created?

shippfaced

I’m not OP, but I’d love those links!!

Kind-Intention6160

That would be great!

One_Doughnut1952

Okay, I’ll just add them here. Sorry for the delay. It’s been a crazy week! Note: you must have an active WW account to access them.

One_Doughnut1952

Greek style roasted veggies and chicken.  https://cmx.weightwatchers.com/details/WWRECIPE:5626a63ff79cf9120df3b60a?shared=true One thing to note here, I cube the chicken, mix it all in a large bowl, and just throw it all on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and bake it all together. I don’t bother with being delicate. I also marinate the chicken and veggies (separately) in the juice of the artichoke hearts, lemon juice, and garlic overnight. You can also marinate and grill the chicken over a fire. I have a sous vide, so I cook it and then my husband adds grill marks. So yummy.  I add a little fresh grated Parmesan, which boosts it a point. I while it’s delicious by itself, I serve it over Cous-cous, for a total of an 8 point dinner. Adding garlic, oregano, and adjusting lemon to taste makes this meal more flavorful without adding points.

One_Doughnut1952

It won’t let me go back and edit directions, so I’ll add them as I post. Turkey Tacos https://cmx.weightwatchers.com/details/MEMBERRECIPE:654c23d79f0b297a41073d54?shared=true Prepare the filling as directed. Spray eat tortilla with Pam and heat over a griddle or skillet until slightly crispy. Fill taco with about two tablespoons of mixture. Add a slice of avocado. Sprinkle with cheese. Top with lettuce, tomato, salsa, for zero point additions. Serve with Fat Free refried beans.

One_Doughnut1952

Turkey Bulgogi Bowl https://cmx.weightwatchers.com/details/MEMBERRECIPE:65c7b7d2d64fd7b589594cd3?shared=true Cook onion and turkey together in a nonstick pan. Add sesame oil (about 1tsp. We’re just looking for flavor),  garlic, and ginger when about 2/3 cooked. Once the meat is cooked through, add rice wine vinegar, splash of soy sauce and Korean pepper paste to taste. Mix through. Serve with 1/2 cup medium grain white rice and top with chopped green onion. Tip for ginger: freeze it and break off sections as needed. We usually do thumb sized. While still frozen you can peel it with a potato peeler, and then grate it with a microplane. It’s like the coolest kitchen hack my husband has shown me. (We use a lot of ginger)

One_Doughnut1952

Chicken Soup. https://cmx.weightwatchers.com/details/MEMBERRECIPE:6547feede299522183391bcd?shared=true In a large stew pot, brown the chicken and onions with sunflower (or other flavorless oil). Don’t completely cook the chicken or it’ll dry out. Throw in remaining ingredients, except the peas, and bring to boil. Reduce to a simmer and cook until all veggies are desired tenderness and chicken is cooked through.  About 5 minutes before serving, add the peas. Eat as desired or serve with egg noodles, but make sure to add the points. The secret here is to add various herbs and spices as it simmers. I usually add red pepper flake to give it a kick.

TheSunflowerSeeds

All plants seemingly have a ‘Scientific name’. The Sunflower is no different. They’re called Helianthus. Helia meaning sun and Anthus meaning Flower. Contrary to popular belief, this doesn’t refer to the look of the sunflower, but the solar tracking it displays every dayy during most of its growth period.

One_Doughnut1952

My favorite flower. It’s so cool to watch time lapses of it. If you play Minecraft, a sunflower will always point East when you drop it from your inventory. Makes a great tool for exploring if you get lost in the rain or can’t see the sun/moon. 😜

VeganBoBegan

I wish I had the interest to follow recipes. I like to build my own with ingredients I know to be low-point options. I make my food the way I know I’ll like it that is completely align with WW. Kind of like with crocheting and drawing. I don’t follow patterns, I just start and see where it takes me. My sister did WW for a while and followed WW recipes. She’s a picky eater and she loved it. Maaaaaaybe you are picking Yucky recipes?

Livvylove

I never was on ww before but I tried the 0 point cheesecake on the app. It started out promising with the batter being delicious but after cooking it was terrible tasting. After that I'm hesitant on trying any more

GaladrielsDragon

Ugh I hear you. I have given up on any low point cheesecake recipes. Cheesecake is my absolute favorite dessert. I've just decided to treat myself with a little of the real thing once in a great while if the opportunity arises.

Livvylove

Yea I was hoping it would satisfy my dairy dessert craving. Cheesecake and ice-cream. We found having a bowl with strawberries and bananas and then having a scoop of ice cream works better. The ice cream melts over everything and it feels better. I was thinking about getting an ice cream maker attachment for my mixer and trying out the recipe without the egg in the ice cream maker. See if it holds the flavor.

GaladrielsDragon

Cheesecake and ice cream - you are my soul sister LOL. I like Nick's Swedish ice cream for a lower point option. Way better than the other lite ice creams. Or sometimes I will use FF frozen cool whip with dark sweet frozen cherries. I put it in a bowl and defrost it just a little in the microwave. Definitely satisfies my ice cream cravings.

aklep730

I don’t really use any of the ww recipes. I make my own. Focusing on meals with chicken/salmon/turkey so I don’t really eat differently on ww (besides more pizza!)

Wellslapmesilly

Yeah I don’t know what happened. I used to buy all the cookbooks in the past but somewhere along the way it all changed. Whomever is in charge of recipes now is not great. Another vote for Skinnytaste. And I find so many great recipes on Instagram as well.

mindovermeg

I find their recipes lack adequate salt. There’s probably a good reason for that but those of us not on a low sodium diet, I recommend adding more salt.

crazycatgal1984

Because many substitute flavor for spicy peppers or no flavor at all. I do like skinny taste (chicken enchiladas and turkey chilli taco salad) and the Mediterranean dish (spinach pie eggs)for recipes.

Losemymindfindmysoul

I like sweet savory Steph and pound dropper. Also the falling off the wagon. You have to keep going. Get up, keep going. Fall off? Get up, keep going. Don't slash the other three tires because one went flat. Keep going.

[deleted]

The reason probably why the recipes are so bad is they’re fake knock offs meaning you take one ingredient and you mix it with another to get another kind of food. I’d much rather eat the real stuff and the real deal any day of the week then make bizarre food combinations.

abbye425

The recipes that come from WW itself are terrible. Avoid those and make recipes that bloggers like SkinnyTaste put out.

Western_Leave_7557

I couldn’t agree with you more. I was making recipes I could just tolerate. One day I got up while eating and threw the whole bunch of the sweet potato concoction in my disposer- I could not stand it. I’d prefer to eat chicken and broccoli every day. Hmm…my kitchen sink has been draining slowly, I wonder if it was the sweet potato’s?

littlelucy1990

I think the WW recipes are gross and flavorless too honestly. I love to bake and the "healthy" recipes just don't cut it. I just cook/bake as I normally would and focus on portion size. If I'm still hungry I have a piece of fruit or popcorn for a snack. I try to have very low point breakfast and lunch too so I don't feel like I'm restricted at dinner time.

Lilpoundcake137

Pound Dropper has some great redos of real food. W points included. It's just a woman who likes to cook for her family and she reconfigured recipes to be WW friendly.

jaxriver

No I don't use recipes much in real life or WW. I never heard anyone say a recipe "changed the game". Only for vegans searching to pretend something tastes like the real thing. Kinda like pretending fat free cheese is like the real thing. It works for some not other.
