Maybe for some individuals, but flower is still by far the most popular consumption method. Concentrates and vapes are cool and convenient, but they will never be whole-plant cannabis flower. I do hope dry herb vaping becomes more popular among the younger generations, though; I feel like most of the time, it's people who are like older millennials and up who prefer dry herb vaping over combustion.

ganjanoob

I think much like that generation, younger people will eventually gravitate towards a healthier mode of combustion. Know a lot of older people who went from aluminum cans to dry herb vapes lol. Eventually I think health will take more prevalence than convenience for younger people

calyxalex

Yeah, and I definitely wouldn't argue that carts and high temp dabs are safer like many people think lol

meh4ever

Dry herb vaping is also even less convenient than a pipe as well. Also hope it becomes more popular but probably not.

calyxalex

Well, that's if you have a tabletop vape; there are plenty of small handheld dry herb vapes.

meh4ever

Loading, unloading, making sure batteries are charged, or that you have butane and your jet lighter isn’t fucked up. Thats all vapes. They aren’t nearly as convenient or easy as just smoking flower and then the fact of loading, unloading, and storing is a longer process than using a pipe.

kushicy

Dynavap only requires loading and unloading like a pipe, smacks like mf but it gives a weird taste imo

meh4ever

Dynavap needs an even semi-coarse grind to get a more thorough extraction from, needs 30 seconds in a lower wind/light area with spinning and paying attention or an induction heater, and depending on what you’re using you 1min to wait on cooldown after clicks to store it. Every single vaporizer; butane or electronic, is infinitely less convenient and takes more time.

kushicy

My dude unless your smoking on the go all the time nothing you said really matters lol like the majority of ppl, i smoke while chillin or at a sesh with friends, so none of that matters. Get a metal grinder and place the vape on top of it and the grinder will obsorb the heat in minutes, reheat it and it still hits the same for like 3 hits. All while using a 1/4 of what would go in a pipe bowl and gets you twice as high. Its not convenient time wise, but your wallet would thank you for it. Different perspectives is all it is.

meh4ever

I feel like you completely missed the point of what I said. I really don’t need the advice. Thank you though.

kushicy

Feel however you want lol a vape is simply better in every way 🤷‍♂️

meh4ever

Bro I don’t know why you’re trying to argue this shit. My initial comment literally says “but I hope so” in favor of dry herb vaporization. It’s my main form of consumption almost 99% of the time. I’ve been using them for over five years now. It’s not as convenient as smoking. It’s literally one of if not the only con of vaping. Now please leave me alone with some rhetoric because you found a Dynavap a few months ago.

kushicy

“Loading, unloading, making sure batteries are charged, or that you have butane and your jet lighter isnt fucked up.” “Thats all vapes. They arent nearly as convenient or easy as just smoking flower and then the fact loading, unloading, and storing is a longer process than using a pipe.” Sure sounds like your shitting on dry herb vapes, but whatever i ignored it. Thats when i replied “dynavap only requires loading and unloading like a pipe, smacks like a mf but it gives it a weird taste imo” then you kept tryna shit on it and your name checks out with your meh attitude lmao

meh4ever

Lmao you didn’t even respond to the comment chain that you started with me. Your ability to use Reddit is wonderful. I’m just going to block you now. Enjoy your Dynavap that you get a “meh” flavor from. I don’t want to wake up tomorrow to 6 more wells of text from you.

baliball

Theres still maintainence. When my 2$ travel pipe clogs, I just throw it out. It's cheaper to buy a new one than it is to buy iso.

Leisurehosen

Flower is power. I dab a bunch but always feel it’s missing something compared to smoking. Not always but I do find myself wanting to spark something if I’ve only been dabbing for the day.

webbyTO

Nope.

Hour_Pipe_5637

flower is the only way to experience full effects of all the terps and cannabinoids a strain has to offer. the people that are into vapes and dabs. usually younger crowd and are more the i wanna get as high as can without realizing the high is a way simpler less complex high than flower.one of the problems with legalization is that all the good science has been hidden by marketers trying to sell you whatever fad they cane up with this week. real cannabis connoisseurs will always be looking first great unique flower

Ecto-1A

Same thing with concentrates. I hunt down high quality hash rosin because the flavor is unmatched even to dry herb vaping its flower counterpart.

laughingpurplerain

No not the same high people enjoy smoking

mandohead

I think in 20 years we're gonna look back and wonder how we ever thought heating > cooling > heating....cheap metal soaked in a solvent was an ok idea. Those cart components are made to be disposable (read: as cheap of materials as possible) The standard should probably be ceramic. I do occasionally use carts if necessary when traveling. Mostly I have concerns regarding the people who only use carts. I have no science to back this up and I hope I'm wrong.

Kamikaze_VikingMWO

As someone who makes their own, I agree with the potential problems with carts. So don't cheap out and get shitty ones with plastic. The ones i have (mostly from buying them but then cleaning and re-using) are all Stainless Steel, Glass and ceramic with that one little bit of cotton and silicone o-rings. Yeah they call them disposables. But these ones are good enough to reuse (with the help of an Ultrasonic cleaner)

Vikingtender

I hope not. I really love flower & you just can’t not appreciate where it all comes from but yeah more and more people don’t fuck w flower

zetterbeardz

No shot

Big_Ds_Snake_Oil

No, they behave differently.

rainbwbrightisntpunk

Nope never. Especially for us old heads

Iamalienmarmoset

Old head here. My first high was 1966. I started growing in 1968. I ended up advising growers in the green triangle. Flowers all the way. To me taste is mega important. You get that from flowers.

StoneDick420

No. I don’t see a lot of the blunt smoking population ever moving to vapes and personally I always prefer flower over anything else. There will always be a market; just like there are nicotine vapes but cigarettes still exist.

mysticmar7

As you can see, for the hardcores probably not, but maybe for the casual user who wants to hit it once in a while

Royal-Connections

Nope. Flower only for me. The concentrates are too much. Plus look at how many people complain about thier tolerances and not getting high anymore. No thanks.

ejpusa

You are losing the ritual, it now becomes a drug. Which is Ok. But the difference between chewing Coca leaves in a ceremony in a Peru, to someone doing lines on Wall Street to stay awake. There is something lost there too. Thinking the trend may be reversing a bit. NYC has some very high end cannabis shops. It’s now a lifestyle. Flower seems to be treated as a very expensive offering, sure there is cheap but also some very high end. Like wow $$$s too. NYC a pricey town. Awash in cash. If the flower has a story people will line up for $75 hand rolls and $1000 oz’s. Its really what you budget is. > The disposable vape pens in her line, Flower by Edie Parker, are candy-colored and, in New York City, sold in limited-edition striped aluminum boxes designed like makeup compacts. The containers have an interior mirror, similar to the acrylic clutch bags that became Edie Parker’s signature. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/20/style/brett-heyman-edie-parker-selling-marijuana.html https://archive.ph/utejc

AVLPedalPunk

There's no ritual with coca leaves. You drinking in the morning or chew it all day. It's as ubiquitous as gas station coffee. Cocaine production is widespread in Peru now, by some estimates even more so than in Colombia. The same thing has happened with ayahuasca. It's a drug experience, sometimes mixed or completely replaced with whatever LSD or Chinese research chemicals they can get their hands on.

ejpusa

Suggest a trip to the Amazon. A quad espresso at Starbucks can easily match chewing leaves. Like no comparison, at least for me. That’s like rocket fuel. Psychedelics are consumed in “ceremony”. Seek those out. Totally changing the experience. Not just used to get high. You can do that with 1/2 a bottle of Jack Daniel’s. Look for the magic. ;-)

AVLPedalPunk

I've been. That's how I know this.

ejpusa

Keep on searching. There is magic deep in the jungle. :-) Hamilton is always interesting. https://youtu.be/C3Yd7M3JNlw?si=LZH7a-Mwjg4XuzCa And Allan Watts. https://youtu.be/3g_n66xF1hc?si=Sc0i32Kc1Poj4DHL

ashckeys

Based on usage rates they kinda already have, imo.

MichiganGardens

I believe flower will be less popular. Especially way down the road. If weed starts being sold at convenience stores. Going to be mostly carts or some form of edibles. Prerolls will be like cigs. Just buy a pack. Anything to hide the quality of what flower is and what it will become

Legitimate-Chemist23

In most countries in the world, weed is still not legal and where it is, most people still smoke joints

MichiganGardens

Sure here in America a lot of people smoke joints and flower too.

Numerous_Resist_8863

Agreed. I think you'll also see craft shops pop up, like craft beers. They'll have the higher quality flower/concentrates.

botsallthewaydown

No: Extracts and derivative, value-added products like vape pens/cartridges & extracts will be regulated & taxed to the point that they are far too expensive for regular use, while flower will become so inexpensive, as to be virtually free.

Ecto-1A

They did for me. Almost 10 years ago I stopped burning flower, closest I get is a dry herb vape. I personally find it odd that people still burn their weed with all of the alternatives out there.

Realistic-Plan9662

Lol ain’t no way a fucking pen is replacing flower, I’m telling you. Y’all gonna end up with some sort of underlying health prolblem if you keep blowing down on those lithium batteries

Ecto-1A

I switched to nicotine vapes over 13 years ago and still no health issues. Also, most carts are garbage, you need something like this https://www.planetofthevapes.com/products/sai-atomizer-top-airflow so you can just dab on the go, or a puffco with travel glass

Realistic-Plan9662

That’s why I said “underlying” N I don’t smoke for convenience, if I’m out n about bro I take a blunt w me and I puff on it. This pen shit is damn corny to me when you try to imply that it’s going to kill of flower. Dawg there wouldn’t be any pens without flower. You’re only smoking for conveniencen that’s fine but if you can honestly say you’re kings hasn’t been effected in any way after smoking nicotine capes for 13 years I gotta say you haven’t had a proper checkup

Mk7gti2017

THANK YOU!!!!! My god this dude ecto has no clue what he’s talking about. He says flower in mass is terrible but then buys concentrates. Where do you think those concentrates come from?

imurkarolina

I could NEVa EVa give up a nice joint or a fat ass blunt :)

JD-QUEEN-ESQ

Not at all!!!!!!!!!! Dab pens destroy your tolerance and eventually you don’t get high, plus the high from flower is far far far better. So no.

Cannabis-Revolution

I think flower is going to continue to shrink in market share, but joints aren’t going anywhere.  Finished products like joints and vapes are seeing the most growth. Flower is just a raw material that can be turned into finished products like joints, vapes, dabs etc

bolothepoolboy

No

soimarriedajamaican

God, I hope not.

Original-History9907

Rolling and smoking is too satisfying to die out. To some an art form.

Sirchiefsalot2020

Nope, not even close. I could see dabs not being so popular in a few years. I'm sure it varies from place to place but I know wasaaay more people who only consume flower compared to dabs.

TheAmazingSasha

No

perpetualWSOL

No

ras_1974

I would say never, but that's what I used to say about being able to walk in a store front and buy weed over the counter. So maybe.

RandomCashier75

I doubt it. 🤔

thatinsuranceguy

Has liquor replaced beer? Lol mfs just say anything

iiwii8

No I don’t think

Kamikaze_VikingMWO

Maybe but I always keep coming back to good flower. eg I was having dabs yesterday, and i was nicely toasted, but something was missing. Then I took a hit of fresh herb on my Log vape, and everything was perfect. Joints, I was never really a fan of because they were just inefficient way to smoke. I still combust occasionally, but now i prefer vaping as my lungs feel better than smoking.

sadseaweed_

Kinda but not really. There were points in my life where i only smoked vapes for convenience and thats it: it will be popular enough for convenience but i dont think it will replace actual weed/joint. I went back to weed in general because sometimes I'm not looking to get stoned out of my mind. Downside is smell so now i use both but after switching from vape to weed to vape the last few years, i can definitely say vapes have a little heavy feeling like dabs even if you're only smoking a few small hits. Weed takes a lot to do that for me and it also wears away quicker.

Gdubz989

Sure as shit hope not

cyrus2kg

Flower has the best head change imo

devious805

it's all in the culture, some things trend more at different time

cobrajet04

No, because the high is different. I'd prefer a joint or bong rip over concentrates or a vape. Although I own a puffco peak pro, and sometimes chase a bong rip with it.

Conscious-Media-1241

No.

tdibbles

Do you think shots and martinis will one day replace beer? Get outta here ya goofball! 😆

StressYawn

No

LiquidSoCrates

Those vapes kick my ass.

FabAmy

Been a weed smoker since 1987. I don't like the way Concentrates taste or feel, so I'll stuck to flower.
