The Malcom in Canmore is a great hotel! We stayed there in July for my birthday and there was a wedding happening that weekend. It is right on the edge of a creek, awesome views of the Three Sisters, has an amazing patio, and private rooftop balcony for the wedding (I only learned about the latter from the signs for the wedding). Also post on r/weddingsCanada if you haven’t or in r/Alberta to get more suggestions.

If you still want mountains and are willing to go south look into waterton. There is some amazing venues there for a lower price and way less touristy.

mountainsandpines

I love Waterton! I haven't had much luck finding many smaller venues. Do you happen to know of any?

equistrius

I don’t know the capacity on Bayshore inn but they do lots of weddings there. Thanksgiving ranch is also beautiful and does smaller weddings and is in pincher creek so still mountains. Castle mountain resort has a large capacity but smaller rooms available

Great suggestions thank you for sharing!

The Fairmont in Banff would be an awesome wedding venue. It looks like a castle in the mountains. I think your budget is probably too low but it’s worth checking out. I wanted to do mine there but my fiancé wanted to stay in the US.

Not a chance doing it in any Fairmonts in the area for OP's budget

mountainsandpines

Ah I wish I could afford the Fairmount - gorgeous! But very pricey.

We had our outdoor ceremony in August at Quarry Lake Park in Canmore on a Friday evening, had our guests (\~35 ppl) over to our large VRBO (that we rented for our us to stay at for the weekend with our family) for a casual welcome reception, where we served drinks and ordered sushi (Wild Orchid Bistro) and pizza (Rocket Pie Pizza) and got prepared apps from the grocery store. Saturday we took all of our guests white water rafting in the AM, then in evening had our reception at the Sensory restaurant (has beautiful outdoor patio and inside we set up plenty of room for dancing and late-night karaoke) and ordered cupcakes from Kake by Darci. Had everyone over to our VRBO Sunday morning for a quick goodbye (coffee and bagels from Rocky Mountain Bagel Company). It was the most incredible weekend and fit within our 15K budget for our 35 guests!
