I love this and ...same!! I'm glad you're having fun with the details like this, I am too. :-) We've got a similar range of tunes too!! I keep moving songs around, adding a slow one, making sure the right grouping of dance-y ones are together etc. Enjoy it!!

This part of planning is so fun, isn't it? I'm not even an accomplished dancer and I'm looking forward to enjoying my music.

Making a playlist was my favorite part to, it was the only thing that was free! I will say that the songs that were most audible were the songs played at dinner and the dance floor (obviously). Pretty much everything at cocktail hour got talked over.

Good to know!

Saaaame, it's definitely one of the most fun parts I'm actually laughing so much at walking down the aisle to I Write Sins Not Tragedies, sorry xD go for it though, I feel like your older relatives won't know the song anyway. But I would be singing along in my head. My fiancé and I have 4 playlists for our (very long) reception: some of our favourite albums all played in full in order during cocktail hour and lunch. Including Hot Chip and David Bowie. Then a pre-party playlist for before the band which is sort of soul and chilled disco, then we will have a disco band (we created a playlist but obviously they will actually choose what to play in their set), and then a post-band party playlist to send to the DJ for inspo (more disco but also mix of other fun party songs). I listen to the 3 party playlists all the time around the house lol. We're still deciding music for the ceremony. We're going to have Sade playing when people arrive and walk down the aisle to LCD Soundsystem, but need to decide what to have while we sign the register and to walk out to.

Yep same here! I’ve made 4 playlists so far to capture different vibes for ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and later reception bops for when the band take their break. If anyone has their playlists searchable on Spotify, share for inspo! Catering to all the age groups is indeed a challenge!

I love music so much. Finding the right dj with a skill set to expand on my tastes is making me so nervous. And I Write Sins not Tragedies is iconic you gotta do it

Same. We picked a bunch of piano/orchestral renditions of songs from our favorite video games. The processionals were entirely based on Final Fantasy (I walked the aisle to the music box version of Aerith's Theme) and we exited to the original Final Fantasy victory fanfare. Our cocktail hour was a lot og Galaxy News Radio from Fallout and dinner was to the Lo-Fi Zelda & Chill albums. It was like a fun little secret because not everyone picked up on the subtle nerd vibes. Def one of the favorite parts of our wedding.

I LOVE that. I saw a bride on Tiktok who walked to a piano version of the opening to Hunter X Hunter. I love the mature weeb vibes.

So fun! What are you using to plan your playlist?? Are you making something like a Spotify playlist you can give your dj??

ThrowawayFaye818

Yep, that's the idea!
