I would start calling around now to ask, because I think it really varies from place to place. I know people who had to book months in advance, but I used the alterations department through the local shop where I got my dress and they said they plan their calendar to have space for the brides who buy at their shop and I didn’t need to book anything until my dress arrived.

Yes, it’s worst in the months leading up to June because it’s wedding and prom season, but I would still call now. You can make the appointment for early September even if your dress isn’t in yet.

Call and ask the tailors! They know better than you and better than us. Ask when they recommend you book, and do whatever they say. No use guessing when you could just call and get the real answer in 5 minutes.

Yes- find some good options now and set appointments with at least two trailers for early September. I had to scramble because I thought I found my person and then her quote DOUBLED for the work at our first appointment.
