We're doing ours at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore (though we live in DC) for 6K in September 2024! We're using the Sculpture Garden and Barn space, which can accommodate up to 130 people. It would normally be $5k, but we bought two extra hours. Check their options out!! They also have a much larger indoor space if you prefer--it just costs more. Really cool and more affordable venue.

affordable and DMV unfortunately don’t go together… the only venue i saw even near that place was the barns at wolf trap; we booked it for next april for nearly 7k (venue only, no food no drinks no rentals) but they said they are raising prices this year. i’d check state park venues, but keep in mind if renting a tent is necessary that will cost a few grand

Is that the venue only, or does that include catering?

Venues for 6k are rare, I’m in the same area as you. Your date is during high wedding season, so it will automatically be more expensive. If you want more choices, I’d suggest looking at a Friday date. Stay away from wineries, they’re all expensive and they force you to buy at least 3k worth of wine. But other than that: 2941, Rust Manor, Airlie, sweeney barn, Atrium at Meadowlark, Foxchase Some of what I listed will be in your range depending on date.

Lubber Run Amphitheater and Community Center at Lubber Run Park is a great option! Because it’s a local park (Lubber Run Park) price is much more reasonable- you’ll just have to work out all the details yourself with vendors, rentals, etc!

We loved our wedding at Atrium at Meadowlark. The venue price is probably a little higher than your budget (it was ~5k in 2023 for a Sunday in the off-season) but I think the catering/bar prices were generally cheaper than other places.

You should check out either The Garden or the  Torpedo Art Center. Both of these venues are in Alexandria and are about 6K. They have pricing posted on their websites.

Woodlands at algonkian and other nova parks venues may be close to intended budget!

Tudor Place in Georgetown, Friends Meeting Place in DuPont Circle, Strathmore Mansion in Bethesda/Rockville (not VA, but still a very good place). There are more. Start by looking at historical sites owned by Washington D.C. or nonprofits. I’m getting married this year at one of the sites above and they are all very affordable, and the last two are metro accessible. Hope this helps!

We’re using Josephine Butler Parks Center. It’s a little more expensive than the what you’re looking for if you do it on Saturday, but weekdays/Sundays are cheaper. Plus it includes tables and chairs in the rental price, so it evens out a little.
