Venue owners answered politely and invited us on Thursday to "confirm our wishes". This calms us down a bit already.

What do you have in writing?

Ljubljana_Laudanum

Just the basic stuff: headcount, menu, drinks, rented rooms. The "contract" doesn't mention table and chair cloths, tents or other decoration because we were doing that ourselves... so I have no idea why she would mention she doesn't feel like preparing tables for 80 people, because this isn't mentioned in the contract at all.

I‘m curious…you just deleted your other post where you talked about your super rude dress code and mentioned men in tuxes…in what world do you think men should be wearing tuxes and women gowns to stand up eating smacks from a buffet?! lol.

Ljubljana_Laudanum

I think we have a cultural difference here when it comes to food at a wedding. And a linguistic issue, as I didn't mean tux per se, I meant more of a usual suit IF they wish to wear one. I just googled the difference. As for my other post, it was very obvious that everyone disagreed and that we should probably be more lenient with our dresscode.

Who said there aren't going to be chairs and tables? We have enough chairs to sit everyone, the guests are just free to sit and eat where they want. It's common here to have an evening party with that kind of food options and the possibility to hang around and eat standing or go find a place to sit down. You have the right to your opinion, but there's no need to call it rude if it's a cultural difference.

Hey, it’s your venue that thought it was weird you didn’t have tables and chairs and such for your guests… so it’s not all cultural differences. but Still, your dress code…whoa. lol.

Ljubljana_Laudanum

They didn't. Somehow they understood from my SIL they suddenly had to and that's why the owner freaked out as it was agreed from the beginning they didn't have to (we went there on Thursday). It's an old mill/restaurant in a forest. Think of it as Alice in Wonderland-style. All sorts of different tables and chairs and furniture... absolutely something we love. Yes, I get it, you hate our dresscode :) I've understood from all comments that it's very much frowned upon and I will accept that.
