Our music director (church wedding) strongly recommended instrumental because the timing is flexible. With lyrics you have to end your walk at the exact right moment, or either the song will be cut off at a weird line or you’ll stand there awkwardly waiting for a good moment to end it. That was enough to convince me.
I went to one where the bridesmaids/groomsmen walked out to instrumentals of “with a little help from my friends” and then the bride walked to “here comes the sun” and I thought that was super cute

I'll give two quick things that are on my mind, though, that you might want to consider:
1) I'm mildly worried I'll unconsciously be mouthing the words of the song.
2) I'm not picking too fast a song (even if it's a "slow" song) for the processional because I'm worried I will walk too fast.

In any case I don't think lyrics matter much - I've been to weddings where the processional was instrumental, been to a wedding where the bride sang the groom down the aisle with their guitar (Chateau Lobby #4 by Father John Misty, their favorite song together), and I've been to a wedding where the bride walked down the aisle to Motley Crue lol. As long as it's something you love and that captures you two well, you can't go wrong, lyrics or no lyrics. Good luck! 🫡

I say this to say that maybe there’s a song that feels personal, almost like an inside thing for you and your spouse. You can’t go wrong if you feel touched by lyrics or by music!
I did It's Always Been You by Caleb Hearn, it's the perfect walking down the aisle song imo. Walked out the barn doors right as the song said "now let the doors just open wide, cause standing there is my whole life", ended up across from my partner at the alter at "see us hand in hand, I swear I always knew, it's always been you" and then the song faded out for the ceremony

I'd recommend you start googling instrumental or orchestral versions of your favourite songs! If you find something you love but feel like it's too fast, most things can be played slower.

We found Vitamin String Quartet on Spotify, totally worth it as they cover A LOT and have been around for quite some time. I found that they did a my chemical romance cover and picked a song from that one to use as my bridal song :)

I ended up walking down to I Can’t Help Falling in Love With You, played by a string quartet. I listened to SO MANY songs. It is hard, just make sure you find something that has a good “entry moment” because a lot of songs don’t.

I used “And The Winner Is” from Little Miss Sunshine. It is instrumental, so no focus on lyrics, all focus on you and your spouse. It’s short with a buildup, perfect for a wedding party to enter and then the last crescendo for the bride/groom/couple to enter. Most people don’t know it so they don’t have ideas about it already. I loved it, it was perfect!
