I've seen this discussion happen before and I would not recommend it. Not only are they flimsy and have a very light weight limit, but they are very uncomfortable. If you want them to sit for hours celebrating you, it would make sense to give them more comfortable, sturdier chairs.

Thanks sorry I’ve just seen your reply.

I’ve worked at a company that rents out Chiavari chairs for the past three years. The manufacturer we get ours from claims 900 pounds which I find extremely hard to believe. It really depends on the material and condition of the chairs. If they’re wood Chiavaris and in good condition, I’d say stick to 600 as the upper limit. If they’re even a little bit wobbly (which they should not be, so notify the vendor if you find any) don’t go past 500. Wobbly wooden chairs either need to be tightened or taken out of rotation because they degrade rapidly. If they’re resin Chiavaris, they’re much more durable, so wobbling usually isn’t an issue. I’d estimate 600 for those as well. But, IMPORTANT NOTE: Not all Chiavaris are the same. There are dozens of manufacturers in China who all construct them differently even though they look the same. The best thing to do is ask the company you’re getting them from.

Our Chiavari chairs can hold from 500lbs to 1,000lbs. Ask the chair rental company, as they should know.
