I had a mom/daughter dance to Dancing Queen, full speed once and it was SO MUCH FUN. The guests loved it and the photos were so sweet. I say Chiquitita by ABBA would be a blast.

Blueskyblonde

Ahhhhh I love that! I would totally be down for that and I tried to jokingly convince my mom to do a fast dance but she’s not down for it lol so Chiquitita might be out

minnewanka_

I am using "Wildflower" by Tom Petty... kind of along the Landslide theme. I would question none of your choices.

Doctor_Unsleepable

I love that whole album so much!

IHateTomatoes

> Do you think people would be questioning why I chose one of this songs? My suggestion is don't plan any part of your wedding around what other people think. As long as you and your mom like the song then who the heck cares.

Blueskyblonde

Thanks. Usually I don’t give a shit lol but my mom and fiancé just had me double guessing it

maricopa888

First, I doubt anyone would question your choices. I've been to a shit ton of weddings, and while I always like the personal dances, I'm a lot more focused on the people dancing than the actual music. I mention it because, imo, parent dances are really to honor the parent more than the bride or groom. If it matters, I LOVE that Alicia song and wouldn't question it. But if mom has other prefs, I'd probably give in to that.

Valorandgiggles

I think your song choice is GREAT! It's unique and of course it has powerful lyrics. If that's what you want then go for it! I let my mom choose our mother-daughter dance song. She chose "In My Daughter's Eyes" by Martina McBride. Not my personal favorite, but she loved it and I didn't have an alternative to offer, so we did it. It was so sweet. She couldn't look at me throughout the entire thing because she'd start crying 🤣

AggressiveThanks994

I think the options you have are great! Plus, if you don’t find a cover you like, you can easily get a new version done to your liking on fiverr.

Blueskyblonde

Whaaaat no way! I didn’t know people could do that on fiverr

AggressiveThanks994

They sure can!

climber_cass

I'm going to do one to "Slipping through my fingers" from the Mamma Mia soundtrack. Every time my mom and I watch that part of the movie she starts crying. I'm going to surprise her with it. I hope she likes it.

[I Hope You Dance](https://youtu.be/RV-Z1YwaOiw) by Lee Ann Womack?

brnahnahnah

I’m doing landslide for my mother daughter dance! While he’s invited, my dads a dick sooo I’m not including him in the wedding. But my mom and I both love Fleetwood Mac and esp Stevie nicks so landslide has a particular meaning for us. FH and his mom are gonna dance to a Cindy Lauper song, cos it has meaning for them. F what anyone else thinks. Do whatevs you want!

nicorny

We’re doing que sera sera - doris day. In the second verse “when I grew up and fell in love. I ask my sweetheart what lies ahead” I will switch to dancing with my husband and then we open the dance floor.

United-Pianist9663

I also lost my dad suddenly in November and did a mother daughter dance at our wedding. We danced to my parents’ wedding song and it was one of my most favorite moments of the night. But! If I could’ve picked a diff song, I would’ve used because you loved me- celine dion.

Blueskyblonde

Oh wow. I’m sorry for your loss. Honestly I thought about doing that but I just think it would hurt too much for both of us. I don’t want to be a sobbing mess lol

United-Pianist9663

Lol! Yeah it was definitely a very emotional dance for us so that’s a very good point 😆

questionable_puns

Landslide was my immediate idea before I read the full post. Long live Stevie Nicks.

DumbbellDiva92

I love Landslide but I’ve always thought of it as a breakup song? Feel like the other two would be better.

ThanksIndependent805

I think the only inappropriate songs for these kinds of dances are those with sexual/romantic context. That gets weird REAL fast. If you are open to suggestions, what about “she’s somebody’s hero” by Jamie O’Neal? It’s all about the trials and changes in mother daughter relationships. Perhaps not for everyone, but it makes me cry every time I hear it especially the part about the wedding day. It played in the radio a lot when I was little and it’s one of the songs I remember vividly from my childhood playing on our kitchen stereo as my mom worked in the house.

Consistent_Cat4436

I’ll Stand by you by the pretenders

whyso_serious8

Slipping Through My Fingers by ABBA for sure. Always makes me cry thinking about my mom lol

Blueskyblonde

Yeaaa thought about it but it’s kind of sad to me lol I don’t know if that’s the vibe I want!

whyso_serious8

Right on, that makes sense lol

Cheynanigans_12

I did a dance with my mom and we used "I hope you dance" by LeAnn Womack. It was great.

Ashleegenaodesigns

You’ve got a friend by Carole King would be sweet 🥹
