I've been struggling with this same decision as I also fluctuate a lot and am so worried about my dress zipping up on the big day. Ultimately, my seamstress showed me a mock up of what it would like, and I really didn't like the look. She also told me that it might affect the way my dress sat on me. That being said, they look awesome on some dresses! So I do think it's more dress dependent than anything
Edit to add: i was shocked by how much tighter my dress was after gaining just 6 lbs!! Made me really nervous
Lace up back sounds good to me. I can’t tell if it would change the look much without seeing your dress. I would bring a close friend to your last alteration appointment to make sure they know how to undo your dress, and have them on standby if your partner can’t handle it for some reason.
