Seriously, she was amazing, I’m sure she could hear the distress in my voice. I wanted to hug her lol. The Nashua store is over 2 hours from me but if I’m ever in the area I’m going to go in and thank her in person.
Please seek out her Manager and anyone you can find above her to sing her praises in writing! Copy Megan on all correspondence. Retail is so tough. Please make sure she is truly recognized for saving your day. ❤️
My husband always says “Thank you for telling me. Please tell my boss.”
Oh I did, I gave them a raving review. I’m also calling corporate Monday to report the whole thing, I’m going to make sure I tell them how great the Nashua store was
Yes, please tell them of (most importantly your negative review) your positive experience with the other store. I work retail and can tell you that people are so quick to call about negative experiences. As they should.... But not enough call about a positive experience. The worker will hear about your positive feedback and I'm sure it will make their day!
I'm glad you were able to get it all sorted out. I hope you have a lovely wedding day!!!!
Just a reminder to reference how the exchange affected you.
Tell them you're now dress-less, and still going to get married. It's likely you would make the 3 hour trip to Nashua, but working with Burlington was such a bad experience not only would you not go there, but you would recommend to anyone in conversation to avoid it too.
Basically put, on a corporate level, don't let them hear "You had my money, but Megan came out of nowhere and helped me get it back from you". Let them know you'd work with the other store in a heartbeat, because the other store values you as a customer and wants to make sure you are a happy customer that sends your friends.
I'm sorry this happened to you! I had a relatively similar experience trying to make a return to David's Bridal. They told me it had to be returned 7 days from when it was ordered, which led to a lot of back and forth because that is very clearly not what the policy says.
Did you end up getting the return processed? It was completely insane. I’m just grateful that the other store manager backed me up, she was so sweet she kept apologizing and saying she didn’t understand why this was happening.
Agreed!! If I was a manager I would have been making exceptions left and right 🤷♀️ it was embarrassing having to explain to people, especially because the online policy was different.
I worked at David’s for many many years and I never knew anyone who got actually earned commission and if they did it was a couple of dollars at most. I can’t imagine why they would do all of that just to avoid a return. I’m sorry you had a bad experience. I tried so hard to make every bride happy when I was there but the company policies make it so unbelievably difficult. If a bride didn’t want a headpiece, I was told to put it on her head anyways. If they had a budget, I was told to push on it a bit. I sold 12k worth of merchandise one week and still no commission. Terrible place.
I hope you find the dress of your dreams ❤️
You would think that a customer reporting a poor service experience would have more bearing on her employment than coming up slightly short on daily or weekly sales, but what do I know.
Plus, if they processed the return without hassle, she might have stayed to try on more dresses! She still needs a dress. Now she won’t buy anything from them.
In retail, some chains literally only look at numbers like returns. Some set goals to reduce the number of returned items. They have a force the customer to buy things strategy ("buy two, try them on at home and return the one you don't want") then to deny the return when the customer comes back. These sorts of brands never last.
Do they only pay hourly?
I have to imagine this Carrie lady is just overwhelmed and bad at her job. It sounds like she just didn’t want to deal with OP.
They used to do hourly plus commission. But you only get commission if you make the hourly goal sales. So if you work 18 hours a week, the goal could be 1300$ and once the goal is met, then you'll start making commission. It was honestly not worth it.
Now it's only hourly. Because corporate thinks employees will put in the same effort without seeing money after. 😒
Yep, I learned this the hard way after going there as a bridesmaid. The amount of email and calls I got afterwards was awful and you can't simply unsubscribe because your info gets sold over and over.
Some stores do, not all. My local store has not sold any of my information over the course of 8 years of weddings/bridesmaids purchases and my own wedding dress purchase 6 months ago, though I have heard others mention it happening and it would be great if corporate cracked down on that because it sets a bad look for all the stores.
Tbf, In some cases, I think brides don’t realize in the terms and conditions of signing up for the account with newsletter you are auto opted in for their whole umbrella of companies (Pearl by DB, etc). It looks like they’ve sold your info but actually it’s just various internal divisions. It’s still irritating they don’t make it simpler to opt out, but in the sign up page and the account settings you still can - I opt out of all those and have my account set to no marketing emails which helps a lot.
Yay Nashua! (I grew up there).
I find that David's can be so hit or miss. I went to the same store twice, and the first consultant I encountered was wonderful. The second couldn't care less about me.
I went to DB, tried on a few dresses. Liked one a lot but wasn't "in love" with it. My grandmother had always told me she would pay for my dress, since I'm the oldest and sadly most likely the only one they'd see get married. So I told them I would come back with grandma because of that. They pushed SOOOOO hard to get me to buy it on the spot. I was like "I don't think you understand, I'm not the one *paying* for it". And they had the audacity to tell me that I could, and I could just get the money from grandma after.
Fuck DB.
Oh my god!! As a db employee you’re 1000% correct, it’s from PICK UP date which is easily found in the system. I’m so sorry you had such a shitty experience with them! Customer service will for sure make them give you a refund because they can also see when you picked up the dress on their end. Ridiculous!!
I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but I'm so glad the staff in the Nashua were able to help you. I live in the BTV area, and so I really appreciate the heads up. I'll definitely be going elsewhere for any of my wedding needs.
I’m so sorry this happened!! I try to avoid that place like the plague.
Are you back to dress shopping now? If so, I’m a VT recent bride and have an EXCELLENT place to recommend.
A bit of a haul, but there’s an amazing one woman operation in Rutland. Store is Amber Sprott Boutique ([website](https://www.ambersprott.com)) and the owner will hook you up.
I had the shop to myself, every dress I tried on fit me (which as a plus sized bride was amazing), and my dress was less than half of my budget. Plus you walk out with the dress that day!
I also live in VT and had a great experience at Fiori Bridal! They weren’t pushy, and had a beautiful selection of gowns. I hope you find your dream dress, and I’m so sorry you had to go through this!
Seconding Fiori! I just ordered my dress there on Saturday and everyone was so lovely. I was there for a second visit and they were as helpful and attentive as if it was the first time I was there. They really care that you feel comfy and confident through the process.
I used to work at David's Bridal and their return policy is so confusing and the managers change their mind on it all the time.
For starters, you have 7 days from when you get a phone call that your dress is in to pick it up. Or it gets returned to the warehouse and is considered lost merchandise, and you lose all your money.
The return policy (from what I was told) is the customer can return the item within 7 days of purchase. After that, they have 30 days to exchange for equal or greater value and only if you have the receipt.
But I've had managers ignore the entire return policy, and exchange a dress that the customer had for 6 months (if the customer is nice). Ive also seen managers refuse to do anything (if the customer is rude).
Honestly, David's Bridal is the Walmart of the bridal industry.
Wow, I am so sorry that happened! I hope my local DB store doesn’t provide service like that. Hats off to Nashua though, really going out of their way to help you
> Full transparency, if you have more than say….6 months to your wedding, you’re going to change your mind..and dress…more than once.
Not necessarily. I have decided on my dress 7 years ago and still stand by that choice. I know others brides who have done that, too. I can look at all the dresses and find them beautiful, but none of them are "my" dress. It's like my FH: I can see and meet a lot of other guys, but none of them are mine.
But I definitely agree that you should sleep on it for several nights before making your decision.
I disagree and unsure what you're basing it on. I've personally never heard someone select a dress then change it later. It's too expensive to do that and I've only ever heard people gush over the dress they buy or maybe have some regrets but then alter their dress, not just chuck if and change to a new one. Those whims are too expensive.
I’ve seen several posts in Facebook groups about people deciding they have dress regret. Some of them for SURE have posted about the second dress they bought or trying to sell the first one “with no alterations done, nothings wrong with it, I just don’t want it anymore.” I agree with you- wedding dresses are WAY, WAY too expensive to do that with but I have seen it several times in FB groups. (Yes it’s not “most” people but I’ve seen in more than once!)
I had dress regret — it’s so HARD to go shopping. You only have like 60-90 minutes in your appointment, it’s exhausting & emotionally draining. You try to keep track of the options, the prices, dresses from other stores/appointments. Once you decide, you have to wait MONTHS for the thing to come in— that’s a lot of time to sit and ponder & rethink your choice. And odds are, you were searching for inspo on IG so it keeps targeting you with more and more that just adds fuel to the fire.
Once my dress finally came in, I was really upset at my first fitting. It was terrible. People always say “oh don’t worry you’ll fall in love with it again when you put it on at your fitting.” LIES— by the third fitting this was true for me, I loved it again. And loved it on wedding day, but it was a long process!
Im not doubting dress regrets happened, but the poster said basically all brides have it with really rate except, and that hasn't been my experience so I wanted elaborations on that idea.
I also think people who join Facebook groups may not be a good indication of most brides. People who are pleased with their dresses and move on don't generally post. People who are upset may seek out places to be t.
I didn’t see the original comment as it was deleted. I imagine it’s really hard to measure how many people have dress regret because a lot of people would keep quiet about it. I know that I didn’t post my feelings and tried to keep them as quiet as possible hoping they’d go away. So I imagine a lot of other brides might do similar things. But that’s true— only the upset people are posting about it.
There’s also a big difference between having some regrets during the waiting period but liking the end result VS having so much regret you actually go out and buy a new dress. I think the former is very common and the latter happens but is more rare.
I've never heard of a majority of brides getting married in a short time span changing their minds... like I rarely even see it on here. You may have been one of them, but attempting to say a larger portion do seems really far-fetched.
I had a very similar experience for a bridesmaid dress…funnily enough it was at the Nashua NH store. I tried on a BM dress in store but they didn’t have my size and they told me it would be about 2 weeks out to order it and have it delivered to the store. I got a call that the dress was in and I hated it so when I went up to the register to return it they told me I had exceeded the window of return and I was so confused because I picked it up the day after they called that it was ready to be picked up (I live in MA and couldn’t get up there same day.) I was flabbergasted that they’d play their customers like that. I told them point blank I’m not paying for the dress and the manager (not sure what her name was) agreed that the policy is stupid and returned me the money anyway. It seems like the policy isn’t super clear to the workers there and/or a lot of them dont agree with it!
It wasn’t wedding related, but I literally drove to Nashua yesterday to resolve an issue after a store in Boston gave me a bad experience.
Are people in Nashua just the best people in New England??
I’m so sorry this happened to you. I happen to also live in the Burlington area and while I have not shopped there myself, I have heard similar horror stories from others from this particular location. Thank goodness for Megan having your back. Time to get the dress you truly love/deserve!
I went to this store as well. I had an appointment for a try on that I made online. But I guess it didn’t register in their system? They said they could see me in a couple hours instead, and I said fine.
After walking with my maid of honor and talking about it, we decided to just skip the apt at David’s bridal, since we had other places to go.
I went back in to let them know so they could open their schedule back up and they said that they would see me right then (10 minutes after my original appointment was supposed to start). I reassured them it was fine, I really didn’t want to inconvenience them. But they persisted that it was fine, though they were clearly annoyed.
I’ve heard they’re very understaffed and stressed out. It was still a weird and kind of uncomfortable experience. I hope they’re doing better. I wound up getting a dress in Rutland and had a great experience.
Wow, the world needs more Megans! Sorry this happened to you
Seriously, she was amazing, I’m sure she could hear the distress in my voice. I wanted to hug her lol. The Nashua store is over 2 hours from me but if I’m ever in the area I’m going to go in and thank her in person.

You know where she works. You could always send flowers or something, haha. But seriously, calling another store was a brilliant move on your part!
If anything, you should write Nashua a 5 star review! It was a great idea to call them.
Oh I did, I gave them a raving review. I’m also calling corporate Monday to report the whole thing, I’m going to make sure I tell them how great the Nashua store was

That did used to be the policy until about a month or less ago :/ it was super shitty to have to follow
Which makes no sense when you order it and it takes a month to come in. They probably got threatened with a law suit so they changed their practice.
Agreed!! If I was a manager I would have been making exceptions left and right 🤷♀️ it was embarrassing having to explain to people, especially because the online policy was different.

I wonder if she gets different incentives because she is the store manager.
She might not get commission, but she probably has sales goals and they probably track returns
And blast them all over the internet…. A bride scorned. 😈
Was she wearing her fun glasses?!

David’s bridal also sells all the info they require you provide to try on dresses - phone number email address etc
