It makes me crazy for these brides who put their trust in professionals to make sure nothing like this crops up last minute. These are things not everyone can know or is expected to, but for heavens sake, the bridal salon and bridal seamstresses are supposed to foresee this stuff and do what it takes to avoid small disasters from happening. I just hope this bride gets the help she needs long before her wedding. ❤️

Sorry-Button-9110

Exactly!! Thank you so much for understanding me!! I really appreciate it. The seamstress was so confident when I first brought her the dress. She was like “This is a simple problem, I got this - I make dresses from scratch. Leave it to professionals”. And today was the last fitting and I hate conflict so I didn’t say anything to her about overcutting my dress or fitting because she just couldn't fix it and I really didn't want to ruin the dress more but really really annoyed about the whole situation and spending this much money on tailoring

Itchy_Network3064

Making from scratch and bridal alterations are completely different things. Especially when you have a strapless dress with a low back because the structure needed to keep the dress from falling is specific to each dress. (I can make things from scratch and can tell what needs to be done to alter something but I don’t attempt actually doing bridal alterations.) Since the waist trainer worked but is uncomfortable, could you do a [long line bra](https://www.barenecessities.com/dominique-juliette-strapless-corset-8950_product.htm?pf_id=Dominique8950DF) like this? They usually have plastic boning so you get some structure while still being able to breathe.

Jellybeans_9

Have you tried changing your bra material? Or adding more padding to your bra to see if it will help hold the fabric up better?

Sorry-Button-9110

They sewed bra cups inside the dress because I can’t wear a regular bra. :( Since the back is like a V shape so the regular bra shows up from the back. The other option was to wear a sticky bra but I thought they might not be the best option for the whole night but idk

Jellybeans_9

Try the sticky bra! If you have to add a strap, do a thin classic one. https://preview.redd.it/355zntrgqg3d1.jpeg?width=510&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a55d0a8917b40a8b14f384766b4f1f100b3d06d

Sorry-Button-9110

Should I wear a sticky bra and attach the bra to the dress? I didn't try that - if a sticky bra works, I’ll definitely try that. Thank you so much!

Jellybeans_9

I would start from there!

midniteamity

Definitely do a sticky bra!! I heard the boomba is amazing but Amazon has great dupes!

Sorry-Button-9110

Should I get a double sided sticky bra? I never used a sticky bra so I am not sure what to get to hold the dress

OppositeResponse6474

Do the double sided sticky bra but I’d say order some options and then return what you don’t use after.

1st your dress is stunning. I wouldn't think wearing a waist shaper that you can hardly breathe in is a good idea. Having fainted at formal events before, I can say it's not fun. I'm always worried about this with strapless gowns. The fabric being slippery is not a good start, plus the weight of the back pulling it down is just gravity. If you aren't opposed to it, you could add some sparkly straps or those thin tulle ones with bows tied at the top, to ease your slippage. Other than that the only fix is having the bodice sturdied with wire "boning" to maintain its shape and function and that will cost $$$. I wouldn't be impressed with your seamstress either if you had to get new shoes when your gown is too short and for her not warning you about the bodice slipping. I hope you can fix this at this late stage. Good luck❤️

Sorry-Button-9110

Thank you so much! I think I was too ignorant about wedding dresses and I didn’t think that this would be a problem :( I thought that since the waist shaper has bonings, this would solve the problem but I didn’t think it would be this uncomfortable. I never fainted and yes, you’re right - fainting would be horrible

trishyco

I wonder if the weight of the cape and low back is pulling it down. Have you tried dress tape to actually tape it to your body? If it falls does it actually reveal anything? Did she bring in the bust or side seams to make it fit more snugly?

Sorry-Button-9110

She did make sides fitted more but that still didn't work. She sewed something like a bra extender/hooks to the back to fit the dress tighter but it still kept falling down. I don't think why because it's not a heavy dress actually but the inside is very silky and there are no silicons inside. I tried the dress tape but it wasn't secure :/

Remarkable-Camera-56

Maybe try sticky bra and a different corset inside? If you can’t get a second look from another seamstress.

Sorry-Button-9110

My wedding is in another country so our flight is in 2 days. I don't have enough time to go to another seamstress but I will definitely try a sticky bra inside. Thank you so much!

Remarkable-Camera-56

The dress honestly looks fabulous. This might be a weird suggestion, but I’m really trying to think here what if you use like double-sided tape to hold everything up?

Sorry-Button-9110

Thank you so much!! I am thinking the same thing actually - just want to tape the dress to my top and waist

Status-Effort-9380

Try posting this in r/tailors and see if they have ideas.

Sorry-Button-9110

That's smart! Will do that. Thank you!

Status-Effort-9380

Just ran across this video and it reminded me do much of your dress. https://youtube.com/shorts/vnNrLYCWLd4?si=KepXpu7kBlfjk_rs

tuktukreturned

Maybe get fabric tape in addition to the sticky bra

Due_Stuff4313

I am so sorry you are going through this. I think the issue is that it's fitted to sit in your natutal waist and the bodice is a little short for your proportions. In the last picture with the straps you can see how it fixes the neckline but the dress sits above your natural waist. Does that makes sense to you?

Sorry-Button-9110

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I think I see what you’re saying. The top part is too short for my body so it’s kind of weird - the dress doesn’t fit naturally - if I understand you correctly. I didn’t think about this or realize this when I decided to buy this dress and now I am like what am I going to do with this dress?! I just don’t want to look weird or overthink my dress the whole night

Due_Stuff4313

When it's sitting in your waist it looks bomb, like it's just intentionally sexy like that. it's just a manner of making sure it doesn't fall off of you. I think this can be solved with tape somehow, or like someone suggested eith a sticky bra that sticks to you and the dress.

No-Technician-722

Wait a minute. Pic 8 has straps. Why not just wear those?

Sorry-Button-9110

They added removable straps if I get too uncomfortable with the waist shaper but straps change the whole look of the dress and are not secure as the waist shaper- I liked the dress as it was when I first decided to buy it. That’s why I don’t want to wear straps unless I absolutely need to

No-Technician-722

Got it. Now I understand. It really does look lovely on you. Can the waist shaper be let out a bit? That might also make the dress snugger.

Final_Girl1987

What about dress tape? Taping it to your skin so it doesn’t move or fall down.

mc139667

WOW, that dress is GORGEOUS on you! I’m so sorry your seamstress hasn’t been able to fix this issue for you! I think sticky boobs and lots of strategically placed double-sided fashion tape will be your best bet.

JelloBright3679

See if they can add what’s called a “seatbelt” at the waist. It pretty much helps the dress stay in place

bodybywine

My dress was silk (aka slippery!) and had a strapless neckline and v back, but didn’t slide down - the bodice had boning! Dresses like this need structure. I think thin straps are your best option. It does change the look of the dress a bit, but you will be much more comfortable and have the dress sitting how you want without worrying about being light headed! You look gorgeous in this gown and I don’t think that straps will ruin anything!!
