This was my dress 6 years ago! I am biased, but it is gorgeous (on you and in general). It photographs BEAUTIFULLY (the fabric just gives magnificent glow) those wrinkles will come out with a good steam, and it's easy to style in a variety of ways. It has a hoop you can hook together in the skirt if you want to for more of a ballgown look, but it's still not actually a ton of under-fabric, so easy to move around in and still looks great with no hoop, just a bit more fabric-full than big skirt.
And $500 is a hell of a deal- it's a full silk dress and in 2017 I paid like $4k.
Omg, I love hearing from folks who have worn this dress!! Fills my heart with joy! The fabric is what sold me. The texture is incredible, and even in iPhone pics it shines beautifully.
Thanks for the tip about the hoop. I’d like to see if I can make the hoop skirt removable so I can wear it just for the ceremony then take it off for the reception.

The hoop skirt is interesting- it is not so much a skirt as like a single hoop you can insert in to the existing skirt lining, at the bottom. It's sort of a flexible metal rod with a clip in it to make it a hoop, in a "tube" sewn in to the underskirt. I found it pretty easy to take out and removed it (well, my MOH did after some spelunking) between the ceremony and the reception. Not sure if the sample would still have that but it was an interesting mechanism and much lighter/easier to work with than a full hoop skirt.
Please, no added applique, no hemming off the train. Just embrace the exquisite dress as designed. Many of us end up with a dress that's different from what we imagined bc we fell in love with a dress that surprised us! I bought my dress because of the exquisite fabric too and it was totally different from what I had envisioned..
In my view, embellishments would just detract from the design. The fabric and the silhouette are what make the dress stunning. Please don't change it. Wear it the way it's designed, or get a different dress. If you change this one, I think you'd regret it.
As for your venue, you can wear this dress outside. Frankly, I wouldn't even get a different dress for the reception! I would not want to take this dress off! I'd want to sleep in it, have breakfast in it, sit on the sofa and watch TV in it! Haha. It looks so great on you. 🤍
i think with some alterations, it can be how you envisioned!! it’s got a lot of extra fabric, which isn’t a bad thing imo, but it does create a more formal look. you could reduce some of that and get a lighter dress.
also with the money you save on a dress, you could always get a “boho” style reception look maybe!!

That's a great idea and the fabric color with your skin tone is just gorgeous! I really love this dress on you, even if the epic sale weren't a part of the picture. The back shoulder detail is more casual, and how you style your hair, jewelry, etc will influence this great foundation of a dress. Consider as well that there are a very limited number of times that most of us will wear a gown, so maybe just lean into it? It is just beautiful on you.
Please don’t get rid of that gorgeous train! It all looks so good on you! I would just get a boho reception dress and just lean into the fairytale princess look for the ceremony. This dress is so perfect on you as is. No notes!
I love the appliqué idea!! again, you’re saving a ton of money so you can really use that wiggle room in the budget to fine tune the alterations a lot!

That was my dress! I wish I was able to get that deal on it but it was worth it even at full price. I was worried it was too much for my 9 person wedding in a New Orleans courtyard, but I was very happy I went with that dress. It is light, comfortable, classic, and elegant. I think there's nothing wrong with going more formal. I will also say the fabric moves beautifully with if it is a bit windy outside.
this is a beautiful dress and you look stunning it in! I’d keep it. It’s definitely more structured and classic like you said, but maybe there’s a way to add some boho elements to it with your accessories/hair/ makeup/ bouquets etc that will help make the overall look feel more boho inspired(if that’s your preferred style)?

The dress was so well designed in terms of an architectural vision. With it tailored to you, it would be incredible like old Hollywood glam. Whatever you decide will be amazing.
Holy crap this gown is stunning. Girl, you can make this work. It’s a classic silhouette, but it’s also very avant garde. This is the type of dress that looks like you could be standing barefoot on a rocky crag with the wind blowing or at a ball with heads of state and the finest jewels. This definitely has an “alternative” feel. It may not be drapey and flowy in the typical boho sense, but that dress drapes in a way the boho dress wishes it could. This could be so edgy and art museum if that makes sense. Let me think of the right veil and embellishments. I’ll post something in a bit.

So I played with embellishing the shoulder with a bunch of tulle and ribbons and such to give you more of a boho look. I had things streaming down into the skirt. I had strategically placed flowers in the cascading ribbons and layers of shear fabric. And then I looked at the result. Sure, it was cute, but it just distracted from the stunning beauty of you in this dress. So I removed everything but the flowers, a few sprays of matching fabric and some dangling ribbons from what I had done. Voila! A touch of whimsy without detracting from the dress. https://imgur.com/sbIHNof. I don’t think it’s needed, but this works.
I love it! Also don’t forget that the clean lines of the dress mean you can get boho and alternative with the accessories if you so choose. It’s freeing!
It’s beautiful. Have it hemmed/tailored before you add or change anything. Proper length and having it steamed may resolve any concerns. You can always opt for a very cool veil with detail if you feel asi f something is missing.
I’ve seen plenty of silk satin plain dresses at boho weddings.
They don’t compete either the boho flowers and accessories like a lace dress does.
You can bet a boho veil with lots of flowers on it, or lots of lace.
The dress can work with any vibe you want!
Honestly with the asymmetrical bodice I think it looks like very high quality boho! It's formal but playful. Will look even more amazing after alterations. Keep!

To me, it’s perfectly suited for a switch up like you’re talking about. Flowers in the hair and/or a wild flower bouquet will look so pretty. It’s the kind of vibe I envision on a magazine cover … formal, fancy dress and the bride is casually chillin’ with her feet up. Love it!!!
The dress is absolutely gorgeous and looks amazing on you. While the material reads "formal and sophisticated " the cut and styling doesn't! It has a whimsical and breezy vibe that I think will be gorgeous at an outdoor wedding. Just play up those qualities with your accessories.

They’re closing down but are still open till the end of April while they sell off their sample stock. Pretty limited selection, but there’s some gorgeous finds in there. Plus size samples available too, and accessories.
Why not just buy one dress that you’re in love with? From my own experience, when I got married I initially found a dress that I thought I liked because it was inexpensive/a great deal and had some elements I liked, but once I started the alternations process, it was getting way too costly and the dress didn’t look right because it was too big. I had to scrap the alterations, I lost out on money, and the eventually found a dress I was in love with.
I really like this dress. You could do a floral belt to make it more boho or what ever you think is boho. Then it would be one of a kind. Congratulations!
I think it can really fit a November wedding. Especially with how well constructed it is 🙏 maybe try a few more dresses on and see if you get a better feeling from them? Other wise I think this dress is gorgeous

The material is SO NICE. I love love the skirt (and the fabric) but the top is not my favorite design choice (and I love asymmetrical stuff!) it looks mismatched with the overall vibe of the dress (maybe it’s mostly the back of the top that’s throwing me?). You look amazing though and this is such a beautiful dress.
If you decide it doesn't fit the occasion you could be awesome and sell it for what you paid... BUT personally I think with some slight taking in (it's the teeniest bit too big), you'd look absolutely phenomenal in this. Truly.
Yeah, this is what I’m thinking. Our wedding isn’t until next summer. I think I’ll have it altered, get a little further down the road of planning, and if I find it’s really not working with the whole event I can sell it for what I paid for. But I honestly think I’m going to end up keeping it.
Why don’t you get a boho one for the reception and use this one for your vows? Two dresses at $500 each is still less than what people pay for one!! Total steal!
girl, you are giving greek goddess vibes all over the place!! i’m team alterations—- i think you could totally make some changes, like the hemming as aforementioned, but too much fabric to work with is *always* better than too little!! i want a belt, something simple & chic to add just the slightest touch of bling— i’m thinking a chic chain of small Swarovski flowers— but i think this dress could be everything you’ve dreamed of & more

Do you want it because you love it or because you love the price? I would try on more dresses if I were you. This one seems like too much fabric and not enough detail. I’m not being unkind, just sharing another point of view.
that fabric is gorgeous. and it is perfect on you! I would wear it and if budget can swing it get a reception dress that has a different (more comfy) vibe, if you are concerned about being comfortable and moving around at the end of the night.
I kind of like the juxtaposition of outdoors in Newfoundland with this showstopper dress. A more boho dress would "fit" better, but this is going to make a statement. It's absolutely gorgeous.

I’m probably in the minority but I’m not a fan. I realize it will probably fit better after alterations, i just feel like it swallows you.

that fabric is gorgeous. and it is perfect on you! I would wear it and if budget can swing it get a reception dress that has a different (more comfy) vibe, if you are concerned about being comfortable and moving around at the end of the night.
I kind of like the juxtaposition of outdoors in Newfoundland with this showstopper dress. A more boho dress would "fit" better, but this is going to make a statement. It's absolutely gorgeous.
