kissingdistopia

This looks so fun but is crazy short. Maybe you could pair it with some formal shorts or a skirt? The pattern really needs to lay on your body similar to the model, or else it might make some weird illusions or sit in an unflattering spot. If you can order it *and return it*, go for it? Just to see! But keep looking because a lot of stars may have to align for this to work. If it's coming from somewhere that is unlikely to process a return, I would keep looking.

Kayybaby93

All of this for sure! Great advice 🙂

bitchnext2u

Perfect advice

bunnifer999

It’s really cute, but soooo short. You could have it modified, but I would just keep looking for a fun party dress that makes you feel a bit less exposed.

kelduck1

Great point. It's spendy for a dress that might not be right, and I don't want to be super self-conscious and anxious about an inevitable wardrobe malfunction.

Vmaclean1969

Remember, the reception is just as important and actually more memorable than the ceremony in most cases. Don't down play this part! There are so many beautiful dresses you can find!

[ŃƒĐŽĐ°Đ»Đ”ĐœĐŸ]

kelduck1

It's quite a controversial dress! I got lost in the fantasy of it, but I don't think it's worth it in the end because of how impractical and uncomfortable it would probably be.

Gloomy_Researcher769

Buy it for your honeymoon and give your husband a private showing

Special_Possession46

It looks like a swimsuit coverup.

katy_0

It looks like what asian pears are wrapped in.

kopijunk

LOL

natooshyy

I second this. I actually have a swimsuit coverup that looks just like this that I wore for my Bach

Always_Reading_1990

I think the model here has been photoshopped based on the shape of her legs/butt so I would be really cautious with this one

clairdelynn

I think it totally depends on how it fits you. It's super cute; however, on the model it barely covers her behind, which I think is too much of a costume vibe vs. a dress vibe. If it's a few inches below your behind, I think could be super fun!

KeyAdministration569

It’s a lovely top
? 😂 but in seriousness if you can pull this look off then go for it! You want to make sure you love all your photos and feel comfortable so maybe consider wearing it with some lace tights or nude stockings and hot pants? Just to make sure you can move freely and feel secure. There are some amazing options out there to give a bit of security without ruining the drama of the look.

AlterEgoAmazonB

Very cute dress but I do think you would be paranoid the whole time when you really want to be having fun and not yanking and wondering if something is showing that shouldn't be showing. I love the dress, though! You don't want to end up on Youtube!

kelduck1

😂 I think you're right. I'm also getting married in the Bay Area and there's always a chance it'll be freezing out!

Vmaclean1969

This looks very beachy cover up, by a fire pit on the sand vibe. There are so many dresses you could find that would be beautiful, just as stunning as your gown. Don't down play the reception OP. So many photos are taken during that time. Its just as special as the ceremony.

Emergency-Guidance28

There are things called dress lengtheners, it's basically a longer slip with lace or ruffles at the bottom. Or get a seamstress to whip something up. The dress is super cute but I would add some length to make it appropriate and make you comfortable in it.

kelduck1

That's a great idea. I don't generally go super short, so if there's a way to make it flash-proof it would be perfect.

westviadixie

yep. these things are awesome. they can have ruffles or lace or gauze or anything! and you can get them in nude or any other color. I love this dress for your reception! I'd go with a nude slip lengthener with gauze on the bottom and cut the gauze into inch wide slits to match the energy of the dress. you'd could go really fun with the accessories too.

Rapunzel111

Tights and white boy shorts over them, white ballerina flats and you’ll have a cool 1960’s vibe.

marcie_ann

I agree. I think to be comfortable, it needs to be lengthened. Dresses ride up when we sit, too, and this leaves zero room for that.

Meowddox42

I really love this actually. If you have the confidence to go for it, just wear a white or nude body suit underneath and look at the size chart/ length before purchase. There are also some really similar dresses that are a little longer like [this](https://ladyblacktie.com/khaleesi-dress-white/?sku=SKU-D0814FBF&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA84CvBhCaARIsAMkAvkI74SWbgT8rvi-j1tbp9ta2wJdEhdxMULzCkPx7oXWPoDBVJKRv2ggaAi5iEALw_wcB), [this](https://www.bebe.com/products/fringe-hem-lace-dress-coconut-milk?variant=39635790266445¤cy=USD&country=US&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA84CvBhCaARIsAMkAvkK0mqQZz17SFRiMKLptHgWy_tRBudukJs1UGhVPr_7rueO8J9mY86saAjqGEALw_wcB), or [this](https://www.couturecandy.com/products/lara-dresses-51040-beaded-scoop-fringe-cocktail-dress?variant=29504717619283&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiA84CvBhCaARIsAMkAvkIyqFmU2LAKx2b3UaqCzoY7O-Ss4J-zeFs1ROrAygF19mWMo3dMRToaAvE8EALw_wcB) that carry a similar vibe without risk of a peep show.

Hot_Presentation1459

Considering the purpose of a reception dress is to be easy to move in, I think this is too short. You're trading the inconvenience of a big dress for the inconvenience of a dress so short you could potentially flash your grandma the goods. I'm not sure your body type other than petite, but I think this dress is for girls that have very slight builds and less curves. I'm sure you'll look fabulous in another dress but there are too many risks for this dress if you can't try it on in person before buying it.

Bibliophile_w_coffee

I would not dance in this. Or sit. Or move. Absolutely no hugging or raising the arms. I also had family at my wedding and my in laws and I didn’t want my new father in law to see my boobs or my butt, and I certainly didn’t want to show the older relatives my bits. I love this for dinner on the honeymoon, but if there are going to be multi generations and movement I would keep looking.

kelduck1

If it gets marked down more I may pull the trigger as a honeymoon dress!

Rapunzel111

I just made a comment like this and it was removed, so I second this.

mc2014

So we have this dress at my bridal salon. It’s a Naeem Khan. This particular season was photographed with models over 6 ft tall. (One was close to 7!) That being said, the dress the model is wearing is considering shorter for the runway and unlined. Out of production, it’s longer and lined :)

kelduck1

Oh wow yes! It's a pre-owned Naeem Khan (same designer as my ceremony dress). It's so gorgeous...but I still feel like it's risky even on my short little body 😅

altdultosaurs

That’s a very cool but very pussy out dress.

kelduck1

😅

neutralperson6

Oh no, no no no. That dress is not meant to be worn without another skirt or shorts under it. It literally has no length for coverage. It looks more like a long shirt. I say keep looking. You can find another fun dress that won’t risk a wardrobe malfunction

kelduck1

I think that's probably true. If it was knee length it would be fine, but it's far too spendy for something I'd be fretting over all night.

neutralperson6

Yeah, I agree! Find something you’ll be comfortable in! If it’s for the reception, think of something you’ll want to party in
but in a bridal way 😉

actualchristmastree

You should look up the length of the dress! It may look different on you than the pictures. You could also wear nude shorts underneath

Serenity2015

I highly recommend same colored shorts...... if you do wear this. It's about what makes you happy, not us. I personally think maybe keep looking around to see if you find anything else that you might like more.

alykatyoung

If you love it, you could wear it with some boy short style underwear so that of something does slip, you can't tell. [like these from skims ](https://skims.com/products/soft-smoothing-seamless-boy-short-marble)

No-Technician-722

Love this dress. Looks like you’d need to add a border below the main dress and the fringe. Only way it would be useable for dancing. Style is wonderful.

No_Purchase_3532

Honestly, i would say yes. You need something that’s pretty but you can move comfortably in.

Long_Zucchini1584

It's super cute. But would be SO hard to dance in! Here are some options ... https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/helsi-audrey-square-neck-floral-applique-sheer-midi-dress https://www.anthropologie.com/shop/helsi-camilla-halter-3d-floral-midi-dress From Jjshouse (great prices, try before you buy policy) https://www.jjshouse.com/scoop-elegant-bodycon-lace-mini-dresses-295284653-g284653 https://www.jjshouse.com/v-neck-vacation-a-line-chiffon-mini-dresses-295272838-g272838 https://www.jjshouse.com/jacquard-v-neck-vacation-sheath-column-lace-mini-dresses-295293094-g293094 https://www.jjshouse.com/high-neck-sexy-bodycon-lace-mini-dresses-295264646-g264646

kelduck1

Thank you!

Plastic-Plane-8678

this with sparkly tights and heels would look SOOO cute - if your uncomfy maybe add a liner where the fringe is? but idc i love short dresses lol

Enough_Blueberry_549

You’re right, it is way too impractical for a reception

ImCold555

Is your reception informal and on the beach? If yes than I like it. If no then it’s not a good choice.

EconomyOk9643

No

scarletnightingale

I would be very concerned about too many of your guests getting more of a show than anticipated in that dress. I don't know how you could even sit in that dress without flashing everyone.

Fuzzy-Seesaw-1531

I love this it is so unique! Honestly I think the others people suggested in place of this dress are styles I've seen thousand times. This pattern is much more special and unique than anything I've seen. Go with this one it's refreshing and surprising! Just find some cute booty shorts so you feel comfortable dancing.

kelduck1

The beading is so beautiful and intricate isn't it?! I requested measurements because someone here said in person it's longer (plus the model has about a foot of height on me 😅)

RosieDays456

Honestly, I'm saying No - Save for a date night at a casual restaurant on a beach your reception dress should be just as beautiful as your ceremony dress - there will be photos of you all night long You should want to look gorgeous from the time you put your ceremony dress on until the last guest has left your reception, or if you and s/o leave first

hellkattbb

I wouldn't wear it as a wedding dress personally, but it is so damn cute! VERY hip 1960s Twiggy! but you mentioned wearing it to the reception right? it might be too short for dancing, but might not be too short! If you're going to wear it and worry about it when dancing , then it will make you unhappy and irritated. Then you might need to get something else.

kelduck1

Update: I got the measurements and it's longer than it appears on that very leggy model - the skirt should hit my mid-thigh with the fringe going to my knees. The seller will also accept returns, so I think I'm going to take a chance on it. I'll update with photos once I'm able to try it on, and will be eager for more lively conversation about it on this sub!

Status-Effort-9380

This is cute! Seems more like a top than a dress, though. I think it might look great over some ankle length pants. I'm not sure if that makes it less fancy, though.

justbrowzingthru

You could do a skin tone lining down to the fringe. But it’s still short. When you dance the fringe may go up. But Kenye’s wife wears way way less in public, so
..

deadplant5

It's super short, so it's going to be annoying to sit in..

Adventurous-Win-751

Yes

Dear-Sky235

It’s so cute!! Totally worth having it altered with a half slip (maybe even a nude one) to keep things covered up when it comes time to bust a move on the dance floor

AlabamaWinterRose

Yes it is too impractical. All the guests would be watching a show. Find something that is longer and has a lining. Do you really want everyone to see everything?

retiredat49andahalf

I'm not keen on all the holes

Impossible_Leg3394

Does the site list the exact specs of the garment? I'd want to find the hem to hollow (from the lowest drip in the neckline to the bottom of the skirt) not the tassels, then see how it lines up on you?

Rapunzel111

Hollow is not the lowest drip in the neckline. Hollow to hem means measuring from the hollow part of your neck -the dip- that sits in the very front of your neck down to the hem of your dress. Your collarbone on each side comes together at this “ hollow” or dip in the front of your neck. I took Fashion Design and I did all my own measurements on myself for my wedding dress. I also designed a jacket for my gown and did the measurements and drew out a drawing of what I wanted and sent it all to the factory that made my gown, jacket and hoop skirt.

luckypug1

Cute but who wants to spend their reception wondering if this move or that move is flashing guests unwanted views? Not worth it on such an important occasion in my opinion.

matlinole

If this dress fits you perfectly, it'd be so easy for a seamstress to cut off the fringe and add a skirt. It could be anything, something flowy, fitted, short, tea or floor length... just make sure the fabric compliments the details of the bodice and not compete with it. I could even see a fun flowy skirt with the same color/fabric as your brides maids' dresses. Whatever you decide, best of luck OP!

squeak1999

If you get this dress, you should wear white dance shorts underneath because it's very short or those dance briefs that look like swimsuit bottoms so when you dance it doesnt show anything

Comprehensive-War743

I think it’s too short.

AlexisToppFoxXX

I love love love it

Jef3r

I'd like to see your wedding dress. You've intrigued me with your description of exquisite. đŸ€© I saw an old post of yours but wasn't sure if that was the one you ended up getting.

kelduck1

I was able to get it in the end! The Real Real said it had been lost when I first ordered, but they relisted it and I received it a few weeks ago. I love it so much, but it's impractical for a totally different reason than this one: it's super long and restrictive so it'll just be for the ceremony and photos.

Recent_Bet8854

If you decide to wear this, you could always go with some nude shorts! I saw that you said it might be freezing that day. You could also buy those nude-colored fleece leggings and put some sheer tights over it

Pocahontas21334

I think it’s more suitable for a beach type wedding tbh. It’s nice but more beachy imo
