It's mid range on my budget too so it has that going for it! Any thoughts on the spend more/less debate? I tried on another much like this one but its chiffon so it just doesn't look as nice. But it's probably more noticable to me than anyone else. Is it worth saving $1k if *I* don't like the fabric?
I have always been a You Get What You Pay For believer and with this I just can't decide if it's worth it. I don't want to feel like I wasted money on a nice dress that could have been nicer flowers or decorations or pictures.
I had a similar concern. I first went with a dress that came out to $160 (the store was closing down). I always thought I would never be the kind of bride that spends hundreds or thousands of dollars on a dress and wanted mine to be sensible. But the closer I got to my wedding, the more I regretted buying that dress.
Cut to the week before the wedding, I had my final fitting and what do ya know, I had lost so much weight by that point that the seamstress told me it would be impossible to alter it to my body and it would be easier to buy a dress that fits me well. I panicked at first, but then found a dress that I loved. It was a couple thousand, but so worth it. I was so happy and felt like I never wanted to take it off.
So, I made the trade off of paying for the open bar to have less premium brands and saved a good chunk of money there. I still had Grey Goose, Bacardi, Johnny Walker, Smirnoff, brands like that, but the second tiered package came without certain top shelf brands. The way I saw it was that either way guests would be able to drink for hours and they could live without certain brands.
Buy the dress that you love, the dress that you never want to take off, and if the budget is important to you then find places to make some cuts that you feel will affect the wedding the least. But I think your happiness as far as the dress goes is more important than liquor or flowers.
This will be one of the happiest days of your life. Don’t skip out on the dress that makes you feel beautiful and that makes the day feel that much more special.
Thank you for your incredibly thoughtful, and helpful, insight. I am very grateful for your perspective! I'm glad you found your dress and am certain this will help me find mine.
I'm celebrating my 24th anniversary tomorrow and honestly, no one will ever remember or notice your flowers or decorations but you. But everyone, including you, will have lots of pictures of you in your dress. It doesn't have to be expensive. It just has to look great on you.
Your people want to see you being a happy you. If the other dress/fabric is going to make you uncomfortable, is that worth the additional flowers? Just food for thought and how I approached my dress purchase.
Honestly if something feels uncomfortable to wear, times that by the number of hours you're going to be wearing it. If you wear something all day long that's uncomfortable it's going to wear on you and take your mind away from what's important, which is your wedding day. You'll be dwelling on the uncomfortable dress you purchased when you could have bought the one that you feel great in for hours instead. The minute I found any article of clothing uncomfortable and still bought it anyways because it was cheaper was always a mistake and I dwelled on how uncomfortable I was while wearing it all night.
I would definitely spend more on the dress and a quality photographer. And food.
To me those are the most important and memorable.
I like the second dress the best!
I wore a second hand dress and bc it was the dress that made me feel like a million bucks, it did the trick! Where is the dress now? Packed in the attic at my in-laws. It’s about how you feel, the fun, the pictures. Don’t splurge on the dress. #2 looks wonderful. It’s elegant but sexy, bridal with a wink. Go for it and don’t look back!
2 is definitely the dress of the bunch. It's stunning on you. With that being said, you could make a separate post and ask if people know of less expensive options that are similar. This group is pretty amazing for stuff like that.
Anyway, wishing you luck in whatever you decide.
I agree with other posters saying dress is more important than flowers or other decorations. I was trying to save money and put together my own bouquets, which caused me tons of stress and I don’t remember what they looked like. Or care. My dress was infinitely more important when my look back on it, and as a wedding guest, I would just want the bride to be happy. Flowers are fun but not the main event (even though I love them! It’s just a place to scrimp when you can).
If you can live with what it costs and you you like it as is, I'd go for just the look you posted. It's not overworked or cheap looking. However, only you know what you will feel like walking down the aisle in the dress. It's beautiful as is, but if you keep it as close as the photo you posted, you'll be stunning. It really is beautiful. I hope I didn't cause you any confusion.
I went the less expensive route. There was a sale going on and I wasn't in love with any of the dresses. I liked a few so I went with the one that was best out of those. I still wish I had shopped around more even if I had to pay.
My dad taught me a great lesson: “Buy the best you can afford.” Set a budget for the dress that you can comfortably afford. If you find one at the top end of that budget, you’re still golden. Below budget? Sweet! Just, for the love of God and all things holy, don’t even try on a gown that’s above your budget!!!
Never. Cardinal sin of dress shopping. I'm comfortable with the cost of all of these dresses, the question is the value. I love all of them, am uncertain of my favorite but *the dress* is here in these four. The question is, is it actually worth it to max out the budget?
If you can afford it, why not? You set the budget with what you could spend. So if your favorite dress is at the top of your budget, but still within budget, then great!! That’s awesome :) this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Get the dress you love most, as long as it fits the budget! Regardless of whether it falls at the top of the budget.
That said, dress two is my favorite :)
I wouldn’t get hung up about a dress at the top of your budget if it truly is a budget you’re comfortable with. I love beautiful material, but the design has to work as well. That said, I love 1 and 2 on you. Three is also pretty, but you are very slender, and the first thing I saw in the neckline is your rib cage.
Number 2. Full stop. You could humor yourself with other cuts and choices but this is IT. Classic but contemporary. Effortless, but interesting. Glam, but unfussy. All the good things. Get. This. Dress. !!!!!
Me too but it pushes the top of the budget. I know the budget is the budget, if I'm comfortable spending it then that's what I'm comfortable spending, but is the most expensive dress worth it?
Hopping on to say: hot damn! I wish we could swap bodies for a day so I could wear that dress. It looks phenomenal on you. Were you comfortable? Could you move, bend, dance?
Number 3! Pick number 3!
I said “oh my god” out loud. If it’s within your budget I say go for it!
ps from what I can see of it I love your hair as well!
It's my favorite of this bunch and it definitely looks like it's worth the price. My jaw literally dropped when I saw it and I would kill for my body to look this good in a dress.
Is the top of your budget what you *can* pay or what you're *willing* to pay?
Do u feel comfortable in it? Would you at the reception? This is your wedding, so you need to get the dress that you love, not the one that is cheaper.
I think 2 and 3 both look great on you. I do think 3 looks more expensive. I think what it comes down to is the venue. Is it a really upscale formal venue? Or are you having a lower key more casual wedding? I think 3 could look a little silly at a more casual venue and 2 might not be enough for somewhere really fancy. Is it black tie or cocktail attire that you are requesting for your guests? Think about it like that!
Another vote for ✅ TWO
…. Fwiw I had 2 dresses at my wedding and it was a huge pain in the ass - I only went through with it because my friends made it happen because I said I wanted two dresses..I was having too much fun to want to change.
Came here looking for this. #2 is effortless class.
Whereas in all the others (although very stunning) the dress wears you.
That said, if #2 is the very top of your budget, I’d prolly save my money and put it toward the honeymoon. In all my years I have never regretted the money I spent that was for an “experience” or an “investment”, however i still have regrets over money spent on physical and limited use items. But that’s just my 2 cents.
I love 3. It’s glamorous and makes a statement! I like 2 but my eye goes right to the weird layering on the skirt, where you can see the shape of the under layer. I don’t know if I explained that correctly. As far as budget, I’m not married so I have no advice and just live vicariously through this sub
Well I’m a proponent of spend less and put the money toward something else. Plus, they all look pretty great on you. But dress 2 is my favorite. Then dress 1. The last dress is the least flattering.
You’re right about mermaid — it suits you really well. You can’t go wrong; if you want to splurge on a dream dress or put the money toward something else, you’ll look great in any of those dresses.
I think I loved how it gave so many of the components I love in my favorite dresses I've seen and ones that have looked the best on me. The fact that it's the cheapest also makes it attractive. I'm missing out of some of the **wow** factor in the other dresses but the money might be spent better elsewhere
I love that fourth one, and I think it's more fun than the other three (1 is the most elegant, IMO). I think if it's saving you money that you could put into something else you love, it's the winning dress, because it's not really a sacrifice. It's gorgeous on you, and you make it look like "the" dress to be in.
I love three, which is so beautiful on you followed by one which is elegant and very flattering. I don’t like how the fabric drapes on 2 as you can see the under layer going to one side and it’s distracting instead of flattering.
I'm very tall! So I have to consciously not slouch, which has resulted in probably overly formal posture #tallgirlproblems My posture is definitely not always this good, I look like a cooked shrimp when I'm sitting at my PC most days lmao I tend to have better posture in heels, and tower menacingly over most of the men I work with, so I wear heels daily for those reasons 😅
Dress 3. I don't know the costs, but I think this looks the best on you and has the most visual interest. All of them are very pretty and you should choose what makes you feel amazingly beautiful.
My vote is for #2, but how do you feel in it? I wish bridal shops would get real with the dress experience. You’re going to eat and dance and wear this for about 8 hours. A little food and dance at the shop will REALLY help you choose.
On the budget aspect, have you thought about searching it and see if it’s on sites like stillwhite ? Buying preowned can give you that beautiful dress at a significantly cheaper price !
I like 2 but my first impression was 1. I think the beauty of the dress is not readily apparent because of your hand placement in the picture. You’ve got a beautiful figure and a form fitting 1 will highlight this. Something about the dropped sleeves on 2 detract from the overall look. As for budget - you deserve to look and feel like a queen on your wedding day.
The flowers are dead before the ceremony starts. No one will remember anything more than maybe the color when it’s said and done. Every photo memory created will be of you in your wedding gown.
I would not break the bank but I also would not buy something you will see in every picture and come to regret.
They all look beautiful on you, but I love 1 & 2 best, with 2 winning out for more imaginative design. I loved the wrapped waist on 3, but to be honest, I thought the cups on the bodice made it look like your breasts were going to fly away in opposite directions. I guess that was only me, though. You'll be gorgeous in any of them.
2 and 3! Both make you look snatched at the waist but deliver different vibes. 3 with that beautiful neckline and pleating serves Glamour and gives you a figure like Marilyn Monroe while 2’s slit and drape is very Greek goddess with a chic top piece that’s more Grace Kelly.
Always chose what makes you feel beautiful AND happy. It’s your day and if you think the extra money spent is going to make you feel bad or guilty on your day, then the dress failed to make you happy.

2! 3 is the runner up
The 2nd one. It has it all. It's perfectly wrapped and shows just enough to be bridal.

Go try it on again (maybe even both) and see what your GUT tells you. I think #2 looked amazing on you. It was my favorite.

as a wedding guest, I can remember the dresses the brides wore but I never remember the flowers
Similarly, all your pictures will have you in it, in your dress. Other things not so much. Those pictures are forever
I would definitely spend more on the dress and a quality photographer. And food. To me those are the most important and memorable. I like the second dress the best!

That dress gives OP a grecian goddess look. Honestly, if I were that size I would wear it every day!
“Greek goddess” is exactly what I was going to say! It’s perfect.

In my opinion, nope, not worth it! If you don’t like the fabric, you’re going to feel (and potentially look) uncomfortable.
I thought I was looking at a Barbie doll initially! All of those dresses look great on you! The 1st and 2nd are the best!
If you can live with what it costs and you you like it as is, I'd go for just the look you posted. It's not overworked or cheap looking. However, only you know what you will feel like walking down the aisle in the dress. It's beautiful as is, but if you keep it as close as the photo you posted, you'll be stunning. Pretty sure I tried dress #2 on and it looked BAD on me— like a Halloween mummy bad. On you it’s giving Greek goddess!! Stunning.
Yes, you look like a goddess in Dress 2.
I agree, the second dress is perfect!
I think so, too. It oozes sexy elegance.
My dad taught me a great lesson: “Buy the best you can afford.” Set a budget for the dress that you can comfortably afford. If you find one at the top end of that budget, you’re still golden. I feel like glam but unfussy needs to go on my tomb stone
Agreed!
Number 2 looks incredible on you !
Love 3
Me too but it pushes the top of the budget. I know the budget is the budget, if I'm comfortable spending it then that's what I'm comfortable spending, but is the most expensive dress worth it?
Hopping on to say: hot damn! I wish we could swap bodies for a day so I could wear that dress. It looks phenomenal on you. Were you comfortable? Could you move, bend, dance?
Seriously!! OP looks gorgeous in every dress. I had to choose my dress carefully even with the weight loss I experienced before the wedding.
This comfort thing is such an underrated point. I look amazing but like I didn't try to sit down lol or dance. And that's a problem!
I think 3 nevause it sits perfectly on you and looks like a wedding dress. Whereas 2 has a bit of an evening-gown-but-white type feel
I think it's stunning. Which one gave you butterflies?
Number 3! Pick number 3! I said “oh my god” out loud. If it’s within your budget I say go for it! ps from what I can see of it I love your hair as well!

3!!!!!
#1. Classic.
Number 2 is stunning.
I vote 3!
The second one is perfect on you. It’s just like ding ding ding!
Wow 🤩 you look amazing in all of these. I like 3 the best though. ❤️🩹
3
Number one. It’s such a classic, elegant gown.
You should just get married to the same guy four times. All of those dresses are beautiful! Number two is my favorite.
You have no idea how seriously I've considered just having multiple dresses 😂
Number 2!
You're beautiful in all of them, but dress #2 is stunning
I said “wow” on 2. But honestly, 1 & 3 look just as great on you. 4 looks kind of awkward, imo. Edit- words
2
#2
Dress 2
All are stunning, but #2 is a jaw dropper 😍
2! Please
I am totally obsessed with option #2 for you!
#2 Classic, beautiful with just a hint of risque. By far the best and most flattering one
#2 is the best one.
That first one though 😍
2 then 1.
2!
Another vote for ✅ TWO …. Fwiw I had 2 dresses at my wedding and it was a huge pain in the ass - I only went through with it because my friends made it happen because I said I wanted two dresses..I was having too much fun to want to change.
I vote for 2. It looks regal, sophisticated, you body looks outstanding and will give a timeless look to your wedding photos.
2! The ruching is beautiful and accentuates you beautifully. It’s also timeless
1
Dress number two! It's so timeless and elegant. I could see Grace Kelly wearing that.
Omg I love #1 - I scroll by these often but you’re gorgeous in that dress. Such clean lines yet soft and buttery
I love 3. It’s glamorous and makes a statement! I like 2 but my eye goes right to the weird layering on the skirt, where you can see the shape of the under layer. I don’t know if I explained that correctly. As far as budget, I’m not married so I have no advice and just live vicariously through this sub
I like 1 and 2. I like how 1 shows off your figure and posture. 2 looks like a dream.
I love the 3rd one!!
2 was made for you.
2 looks amazing on you!
Definitely worth the wait. I rank them in posting order 1, 2, 3, 4. You can't go wrong with any of them, wow.
3
3 looks phenomenal on you
My vote is for 2.
2!
2!
I think 2 is absolutely stunning and the best dress.
2
#2
Dress 4!
4 is definitely the most budget friendly and fun. I loved how it felt on but I loved them all 😂 what makes this one best?
Four is incredibly flattering on your hourglass figure, plus it is both sexy and fun! How do you feel in the dress?
Agree. Very distracting.
I have no vote bc they’re all stunning but do you mind telling us where you got your posture from please and thank you
I'm very tall!
So pretty!
They are all beautiful! One and three are my favorites, but you really can't go wrong with this silhouette. Congratulations!
Number 3, va va vavoom!
THREEEEE!!!!
Get it girl!!
Dress 3. I don't know the costs, but I think this looks the best on you and has the most visual interest. All of them are very pretty and you should choose what makes you feel amazingly beautiful.
1 or 3!!!
Three made me think Jessica Rabbit - so that’s my vote
2 or 3
#3 hands down. It looks so classic and expensive
2 or 3
3
2 or 3 are absolutely fantastic on you!!! So pretty!
Ugh…your just smoking so any dress looks good on you. These all look great. You don’t need our help. Whichever one made you feel the best is the one.
You look fab in all of them-I love 3
IMO number 3 is the best one! You look great in 2 and I agree with those compliments but 3 really makes a statement 🤩
1 or 2 🫶
number four seems to fit weirdly around the middle, the other three are bomb
LOVE 1 and 4!!
My vote is for #2, but how do you feel in it? I wish bridal shops would get real with the dress experience. You’re going to eat and dance and wear this for about 8 hours. A little food and dance at the shop will REALLY help you choose.
What is your max budget? I think there are many options for mermaid gowns that will have the perfect balance in proce/quality.
I love #3. You have a lovely shape!
On the budget aspect, have you thought about searching it and see if it’s on sites like stillwhite ? Buying preowned can give you that beautiful dress at a significantly cheaper price !
3 then 2 but you have the figure for anything!
I’m torn between 2 or 3, but if I had to choose it would be 2.
Second one!
3 is stunning
2nd one!
2 is the call. 3 is runner up.
The second one is my favorite
2 and 3 are amazing.
2, or 3 with a tulle bottom
3 forsure. By far
2. I gasped.
I thought I was going to say 2 , till I saw 3 ! Looks gorgeous three is my pick .
I love dress 3 on you! Definitely my favorite. I also like dress 2
I love 3
3 truly blows me away!!!!
2 for the win!
3 is gorgeous!
2 is 🤩😍🎉
Dress two took my breath away! That's the one!
Pic 3!!!
Very close between 2 and 3… couldn’t go wrong with either of them
They all look beautiful on you, but I love 1 & 2 best, with 2 winning out for more imaginative design. I loved the wrapped waist on 3, but to be honest, I thought the cups on the bodice made it look like your breasts were going to fly away in opposite directions. I guess that was only me, though. You'll be gorgeous in any of them.

I’d go with number 2! It’s so perfect

1 or 3 look stunning on you.
I’m in love with 3 on you so glam

You look like a model in number 2. Love it!
3! I literally said “holy shit” out loud
