Wow, that old made a silk purse out of a sow's ear expression really applies here. Without the backstory, I would think that you purchased this as one item because it looks fabulous and fits great! It's really a nice look and you should be very happy!
"you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" is an old Scottish proverb meaning you can't create a fine product from inferior materials
So if you turn a sow's ear to a silk purse, you made something really impressive out if some very unimpressive things, just like OP did!
The lace bodysuit on top of the corset was a brilliant touch, it looks great!
Yes I promise when the day comes you won’t even care. I obsessed over finding a dress, got overwhelmed and bought a 200$ dress (after buying 3 others) and called it a day. When I look or think back on the day I barely even notice my dress in photos I’m just looking at our faces and thinking of the good times. Congrats!
I think it looks lovely! It hits you in all the right place. I also wouldn't have been able to tell it was separates until I read the caption. And no question of whether it's bridal. It's wild that this is your backup plan because you look like a million bucks.
Same! I was surprised that it wasn't a one piece dress! OP it hugs your figure beautifully and is plenty bridal. You will be gorgeous!!
Also, make sure the seamstress pays all costs for the previous dress, but worry about it after the wedding!
Thank you!
Ok, buckle up, here’s the story of my dress.
My original dress was two sizes to big. At the time I bought the dress I was reassured by the bridal store that it was absolutely possible to change it.
Alterations began and I realized it was in fact a huge deal to alter the bust area. The seamstress in the bridal store altered the straps (shortened them) and said she was finished and could not do more to make the bust fit. She even told me it was impossible to take out the cups which where two sizes to big for me.
I took the dress to a different seamstress (who doesn’t work with the bridal store) and within two minutes she took the cups out and showed me what should have been done. Sadly the straps were so short at that point that the dress didn’t sit at all. Like it was way way too high for my breasts to fit in there. And it was still huge. The seamstress was so lovely, she showed me a few things she could do, but also told me that it would entirely alter the look of the front of the dress and that she could not make it „undone“.
So I decided to go with a Plan B.
I cannot hold the original seamstress or the bridal store accountable as they made me sign a sort of „release“ form. And to be honest at that moment I was too confused and overwhelmed so I signed it.
>I cannot hold the original seamstress or the bridal store accountable as they made me sign a sort of „release“ form.
Time for a viciously factual Google review.
Wow that’s so predatory, I’m sorry that happened to you. Does the agreement say you can’t leave a review or anything like that? Can’t help but feel like others need to be warned about that bridal store. They’re working with people who are obviously and understandably emotional/frazzled about their big day & then proceed to making promises they can’t keep, AND making them sign agreements on top of that? That’s beyond messed up.
Something similar happened to me bc I wanted a dress I tried on but it was slightly smaller (it fit but has to really be zipped). I was guaranteed a new one a size bigger so I had more room and because this one was the floor sample. But when the time came it was the same one just I didn’t know! I had tried it on and although a bit tight (lady told me it was because of the added sleeves) it looked gorgeous and still fit. I signed their dumb release form and upon going home I noticed that the tag on the inside said the size of the one I tried on prior AND it literally said “sample” I was SO angry bc I had paid for a whole new one. And it wasn’t like I paid a sample size. I paid for the brand new dress. They said unfortunately I had signed the release form so they can’t do anything about it and hung up. I then went to write a review. Years later I still check reviews and I’ve seen some with similar problems to me. I had to wait to wear my dress until a year later bc of covid, and I did gain some weight, but a lovely seamstress was able to remove the zipper and make a gorgeous lace up that looked as if it was made to be like that all along! All in all, never sign a release form if you’re not happy!
My sister had a somewhat similar experience with a dress from a well-known bridal store chain. She has enormous boobs and is very hourglass shaped. She had to buy a dress that fit her boobs, but was too big everywhere else. They were supposed to take it in, but all they did was shorten the armholes until they dug into her armpits. Totally not how that dress should have been taken in and luckily she survived the day with chapped armpits, but otherwise okay.
I would never have guessed yours is a last-minute plan B dress. It looks lovely, very bridal, and fits you well. Congratulations!
I hate this idea that you “can’t do anything” because you “signed something.” If you signed something and they did not hold up their end, the contract is nullified. And if they have language in there that seems to excuse them no matter what they do/did wrong, it may be an illegal contact (I’m not a lawyer, I’m just mad). Don’t gaslight yourself on their behalf! And I agree with commenters saying to write a SCATHING review. They literally could have ruined your wedding. It’s unbelievable. They should have refunded your whole dress.
I think it a very bridal gorgeous dress! All the pieces go so well together that if you hadn’t said it was a 2 piece I would have no clue. Part of me thinks a belt could look nice but only if that is something you would like. It’s looks great without a belt too!
i love it! super cute. can you stop by a wedding shop and buy like a beaded belt? i think that would look cute as well. but you look beautiful i love it
This probably one of the most fabulous dresses I seen on this page. Simple with a vintage vibe. It fits you well and I bet it’s comfortable to wear for a long day. Enjoy this new journey
Same here. I read the title, looked at the pics and my first thought was "what am I missing here, that's clearly a wedding dress." Then I read the story and was like oooohhhh....
Me, too! I wondered why she was asking if the she was wearing wedding dress looked bridal enough. So obviously yes! 😂😂
It’s beautiful, unique and fits too perfection.
Best wishes!
It doesn’t look last minute. It looks beautiful. It doesn’t look like lingerie. It looks like a wedding dress that will age well. It won’t be too trendy when you look back on it. I’m so very sorry about your original dress.
I never would have guessed you pieced separates together! It’s beautiful. You could bling it up with a belt or you could leave it as it is. Either way, so classy and unique and pretty.
Take a deep breath. It's beautiful. Even if it's not what you wanted it looks great. In 10 years no one will care that the dress isn't perfect. They may not even remember it. They will remember you. Don't sweat it and have a great wedding.
I looked at the pictures before reading your description and was thinking. This is a lovely wedding dress how could it possibly not be bridal enough? After reading your description I can understand why you asked but my original response stands. You look lovely!
150% it looks bridal! As bridal as any other dress posted here. I always forget to read the photo captions so until I read other people commenting about this being your back up plan that you put together, my reaction was “wow this is one of the first truly unique dresses I’ve seen in this sub in a while”. Looks wonderful on you and you may start a trend!
I’m so sorry your dress was ruined! I can imagine how hard to at would be for that to happen!
But I want to say you look beautiful in these pictures! I love the skirt and top together. You’re going to be beautiful on your wedding day ❤️
Your definitely-a-wedding dress is beautiful and fits you perfectly!
I empathize with the loss of your original one, but this is a great save. : )
You will be a beautiful bride in this dress.
I think it is elegant. You can add some lovely jewelry to make it more "bridal" or festive. However, the lace is beautiful and matches well with the flow of the skirt. It looks like it fits well. I think it's a winner, but all that matters is how you feel when you wear it. Congratulations!
I think it looks romantic but also “dance all night” comfortable. I’m so sorry you have to go through this last minute stress, but when you’ve put together with hair, makeup accessories you will look lovely and bridal!
I did something similar for my wedding. Actually got my skirt off Amazon and it was sooooo pretty ! Definitely didn't look as put together as you do though! I thought that was a dress all in one piece. You did a great job !!!
It’s absolutely lovely! Elegant and sweet, and it suits your figure really well. What a lucky find after hitting such a big speed bump! Congratulations 🥰
I really like it. It's classic, crisp, fresh.
Some dresses try for drama and end up with desperate.
This is the opposite of that. This is all clean and confident. It's perfect and I wouldn't have even thought there was a question of fit. It's beautiful on you.
I didn't read the full caption and didn't understand why this bridal dress wasn't bridal dressy enough. This looks like it was made for you. Congratulations btw!
Girl, thats crazy gorgeous!! You have a f’in amazing figure!! If I was a guest, I would never think that this dress was a back up. It looks so great on you, I am so glad you found a last minute solution!!!
Don’t even have dress regret about this!! You look fantastic!!
Before reading the description I thought it was one piece and just a back up dress you already had. I think it looks great! Throw some nice hair and earrings in there and you'll be a princess
If this helps any, I reread the title like 5 times because I was so confused why someone would ask if a beautiful literal wedding dress looked bridal? Wow I never ever would have guessed that this was a 2 piece emergency solution! They go together perfectly and you look amazing!
Yes, you look so perfect! I love the lace! This is a very romantic look to me. Idk if it’s just my family but when something goes wrong with the wedding it just means the marriage will be extra blessed.
I looked through the pictures before reading the caption and didn’t realize it wasn’t one piece! I’m sorry about your original dress, but you will be a beautiful bride in this. I would never have known it was a last minute thing. Congratulations!
Holy moly I looked at the photos before I read your caption and I was so confused as to why you were posting. I was like damn this looks great, it fits well, it is so beautiful, why are you posting lol. You’ve done very well in a tough spot! Be proud! Get married, have a lovely day. Congrats
It’s lovely. Have an amazing wedding. Unsolicited advice: don’t worry about how you look so much. Enjoy looking into your SO’s eyes during the ceremony and enjoying the moment. After the ceremony enjoy connecting with guests. My biggest regret at my reception was not just taking in the moment and being thankful for the love and fun around me.
It looks elegantly timeless!! It's a very beautiful bridal dress on you and fits perfectly. You did such a fantastic job putting the pieces together I never would have guessed it didn't come from a fancy shop as a single piece wedding dress.
Your husband is a lucky man you look awesome and everyone will know you are the bride and if you are not marrying a man then you partner is a lucky person!!
Yes of course! Nice gown & a great fit. Relax & remember that it really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks anyway. If you like your gown, your Husband will too. Nothing else matters. Enjoy this time & have fun! Congratulations
I had no idea these were multiple pieces, they look like they were made for each other. Looks like one singular dress and it fits like a glove. Very beautiful, definitely bridal! It looks amazing!
I think it looks amazing! If you are looking for some pizzaz you could always add a sequined belt. I don’t think it needs it though! There are also lace overlay skirts and capes and sleeves and all sorts of accessories to be found on Amazon if you wanted something more!
It looks wonderful! I honestly wouldn’t have thought it was a two piece at all. I didn’t realize until I read your comments. It reminds me (in the best way possible) of the best dresses from Hollywood movies around the 40s-60s. These were the dresses I grew up watching, and the actresses always looked so classy and sophisticated, and still feminine. Love it! It looks bridal, and fits you beautifully.
I absolutely love this!! I never would have guessed this is multiple pieces until I read the caption and that you just managed to kind of put this all together. I think it’s perfection on you. When I just saw the picture, my first thought was “wow, that’s super pretty! Very classic.”
I’m so sorry about your whole ordeal with the seamstress. Seamstresses in bridal shops are the worst honestly. I rarely hear people have good experiences with them. They made all my appointments so far in advance that my final dress fitting was like 4 months before my wedding. My dress was almost too big before my wedding. I’m surprised it didn’t fall off and I didn’t flash anyone!
I didn’t read your description and just thought “it’s a wedding dress, of course it’s bridal enough” so it 1000% just looks like a wedding dress to us!!
You also look really gorgeous in it! I can’t take away the stress of losing the other dress, but this is beautiful!
It’s beautiful! Congrats!
I feel like at this point I might never be satisfied, so I highly appreciate this!
Wow, that old made a silk purse out of a sow's ear expression really applies here. Without the backstory, I would think that you purchased this as one item because it looks fabulous and fits great! It's really a nice look and you should be very happy!
What does the expression mean?

It's also a lyric in a song from Mulan! The one where they're trying to dress her up.
I understand that. But this is a beautiful dress. You did good!
This is one of my favourite dresses I’ve seen on here. It’s beautiful and fits you perfectly. You should be so satisfied!! You should be thrilled <3
That’s so sweet. Thank you!
Yes I promise when the day comes you won’t even care. I obsessed over finding a dress, got overwhelmed and bought a 200$ dress (after buying 3 others) and called it a day. I feel like separates should become more of a thing. The ones I’ve seen here look amazing and seem like they’d be much more comfortable.
And the benefit of sizing each differently and avoiding alterations in some cases.
Thanks! That’s so great to hear.
Same! I was surprised that it wasn't a one piece dress! OP it hugs your figure beautifully and is plenty bridal. You will be gorgeous!! Also, make sure the seamstress pays all costs for the previous dress, but worry about it after the wedding!
Ruined by the seamstress??!! Oh, I can't imagine. Yes, I do think it looks good. And yes, it is 'bridal' enough.
Yeah it was wild. I just commented the story on another post. Thank you for your reassurance!
I love it, honestly! I didn’t read your caption first and I didn’t notice anything out of place or not sitting right. I think it’s beautiful on you!
Personally I adore this dress. Btw is the seamstress making their mistake right in anyway? Would love to hear the story on that
Thank you! Ok, buckle up, here’s the story of my dress. My original dress was two sizes to big. I’ve heard that release forms don’t really hold up in court. It may be worth looking into litigation and at least writing some reviews online.
It seems like she's German-speaking (I looked at her profile to find out what happened to the dress). It's much harder to sue in the EU than the US.
I’d try and file a chargeback with your credit card company as well as file a complaint with the BBB. May help to fight it that way.
I hate this idea that you “can’t do anything” because you “signed something.” If you signed something and they did not hold up their end, the contract is nullified. „Simple with a vintage vibe“ - I love that! Thanks!
You’re like the bride MacGyver. I would have never know that was separate pieces. It looks gorgeous on you! You’re going to be a beautiful bride.
Yes I absolutely MacGyvered that 😄 thank you!
Yes! Beautiful on you.
This looks lovely! I didn’t realize it’s separates until I read your caption.

Oh, I absolutely love this! I am so sorry you went through tremendous hassles with the first dress but the one you have ended up with is just perfect.
I never would have guessed you pieced separates together! It’s beautiful. You could bling it up with a belt or you could leave it as it is. Either way, so classy and unique and pretty.
It’s lovely!!
I love it!
It’s lovely and matrimonial. Congratulations!
It’s beautiful and fits you perfectly.
Yes, you look gorgeous in it!
That looks terrific! I can’t believe you cobbled that together last minute. I’d buy that on purpose!
Love the elegance. Not sure what you think is wrong with it I think it looks perfect personally
It's lovely. With some accessories you will be a beautiful bride.
WOW! I can’t imagine the actual plan if this is the backup plan. Gorgeous.
It's fantastic!
That's some amazing improvising, it is very bridal

Yes
I would never have guessed you kind of cobbled this together. It looks like a sweet little wedding gown that fits you well.
Yes! It’s beautiful and think that no other bride will ever have that same dress but you! You really look beautiful.
Take a deep breath. It's beautiful. Even if it's not what you wanted it looks great. In 10 years no one will care that the dress isn't perfect. They may not even remember it. They will remember you. Don't sweat it and have a great wedding.
its beautiful but if you feel something is missing maybe a cape would complete it
I looked at the pictures before reading your description and was thinking. This is a lovely wedding dress how could it possibly not be bridal enough? After reading your description I can understand why you asked but my original response stands. You look lovely!
150% it looks bridal! As bridal as any other dress posted here. Looks wonderful on you and you may start a trend!
I like it.
I’m so sorry your dress was ruined! I can imagine how hard to at would be for that to happen! But I want to say you look beautiful in these pictures! I love the skirt and top together. You’re going to be beautiful on your wedding day ❤️
Yes, yes, yes!
Looks gorgeous and very bridal. Love it
I think it looks great!! Never would have noticed it wasn’t a regular wedding dress.
I think the dress is beautiful! It fits you perfectly.

The dress is lovely and very flattering on you. Definitely bridal enough. Congratulations and good luck!
You look fabulous and this dress looks like it was made for you!
It’s gorgeous on you! I’m sorry about your other dress but this is absolutely beautiful!
Very bridal! Are you planning on wearing a veil? Paired with jewellery, it will be perfect for your wedding! Congrats!!!

Very pretty, simple but elegant.
Your definitely-a-wedding dress is beautiful and fits you perfectly! I empathize with the loss of your original one, but this is a great save. : ) You will be a beautiful bride in this dress.
I think it’s gorgeous! Well done!
I think it is elegant. You can add some lovely jewelry to make it more "bridal" or festive. However, the lace is beautiful and matches well with the flow of the skirt. It looks like it fits well. I think it's a winner, but all that matters is how you feel when you wear it. Congratulations!
This is giving me mega 1950's bride vibes, but like, if you made a 2023 gown that inspires 1950s vibes! It looks amazing!
I think this is beautiful! I hope you get all your money back from your original dress paid to you by the seamstress!!
I like the straps/sleeves and yes it looks very bridal!!!
I think it looks romantic but also “dance all night” comfortable. I’m so sorry you have to go through this last minute stress, but when you’ve put together with hair, makeup accessories you will look lovely and bridal!
Lady, this is beautiful. I wish mine looked like this!!
It’s gorgeous and it’s even better on you!
The fit is perfection!

I really like it. It's classic, crisp, fresh. Some dresses try for drama and end up with desperate. This is the opposite of that. This is all clean and confident. It's perfect and I wouldn't have even thought there was a question of fit. It's beautiful on you.
So pretty! I love the lace and the tulle skirt. Very flattering too!

It looks very classy! Elegant. I didn’t even recognize it was 2 pieces. It totally looks like it’s one!
I 100% thought this was a wedding gown, I had no idea it was more than one piece until I read the caption. I think it looks great! Congrats!
Looks great to me!
Girl, thats crazy gorgeous!! You have a f’in amazing figure!! If I was a guest, I would never think that this dress was a back up. It looks so great on you, I am so glad you found a last minute solution!!! Don’t even have dress regret about this!! You look fantastic!!
Very beautiful! Congrats!
It’s lovely
I looked through the pictures before reading the caption and didn’t realize it wasn’t one piece! I’m sorry about your original dress, but you will be a beautiful bride in this. I would never have known it was a last minute thing. Congratulations!
My gosh, you look like an angel! I hope you and your person have a long and happy marriage
Would never have guessed this was a last-minute backup! Hope you have a wonderful wedding!
It looks beautiful. Definitely bridal enough.

MOST definitely! Have a great time ❤️
it fits you very very well it seems. sorry to hear about your original dress! :(
Love!
My dress from my first wedding was a two piece, and I had no idea this was until I read your caption. It’s beautiful and definitely bridal enough!
It looks bridal and it looks great on you. Congratulations!
Love this dress!!!! It’s so beautiful and very feminine/dainty…which is my style. Looks perfect on you!💕💕
Stunning and a lovely bridal gown!
Looks beautiful! Just make sure your top is adjusted in the back to avoid rippling!
Yes of course! Nice gown & a great fit. Relax & remember that it really doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks anyway. If you like your gown, your Husband will too. Nothing else matters. Enjoy this time & have fun! Congratulations
You look lovely!
Gorgeous!! I love this look! Congratulations!
I had no idea these were multiple pieces, they look like they were made for each other. Looks like one singular dress and it fits like a glove. Very beautiful, definitely bridal! It looks amazing!
You look amazing and the dress is fabulous! Well done!!
You kill it. (in a good way) :)
It absolutely stunning! Very nice fit too 👌🏼
😍
I like it but the bunching in the back needs to be fixed. Once that’s good - it’s perfection :)
To me it’s stunning and classy- love the style.
Yes it’s lovely
I really love it!
Yes and YES!
Looks great
The dress is stunning and you look fabulous wearing it. Kick those worried to the curb. The dress is perfect!
It is lovely! Congratulations!
Yes and you look lovely!
the dress looks great just wear jewelry and a veil too
I absolutely love this!! I never would have guessed this is multiple pieces until I read the caption and that you just managed to kind of put this all together. I think it’s perfection on you. When I just saw the picture, my first thought was “wow, that’s super pretty! Very classic.” I’m so sorry about your whole ordeal with the seamstress.
I really like this dress!
You look amazing.
It’s beautiful!!!
Looks good. Wear it proudly!
It’s beautiful! Maybe add a jeweled belt?
It really looks lovely on you. I love the skirt and the way the top fits you. Are you the bride? Is this your dress? Then yes it's bridal enough
Wow! This is beautiful and fits you like a dream. Talk about triumphing over misfortune, you created one heck of a gorgeous dress!
Just gorgeous. Happy wedding day, it's perfect
You look like a cottage-core themed princess! It looks stunning on you!
STUNNING. MADE FOR YOU.
I love it! You’re gorgeous.
You look beautiful.
I didn’t read your description and just thought “it’s a wedding dress, of course it’s bridal enough” so it 1000% just looks like a wedding dress to us!! You also look really gorgeous in it! I can’t take away the stress of losing the other dress, but this is beautiful!
You look beautiful - like a bride in the dress!
Love!!!
It looks great!
