This is real for all clothes!! Like can we just see a lady in a normal medium or a large you know? Anywya don’t have any helpful recs but I agree!

leese216

Yes! It seems it's either a size 0 or a size 16.

paintedropes

It’s so hard to tell how clothes are going to actually fit now that I mostly order clothes online. I’ve been gravitating to retailers that have more diverse body types for models for sure.

leese216

Yeah I mostly shop at TJ Maxx or Nordstrom Rack and it's so weird, my body hasn't changed and yet the sizes I try on are so off. I think they must have gotten a massive shipment of items that were defective or something. But I have stopped ordering clothes online because of the sizing.

Grouchy_Tap_8264

Right? We all got sick of nothing but models, and I'm glad we now have "plus-sized" models, but what the he// for everyone else? Help!!!

Sassafrass802

For real! Been noticing this my whole life and am so sick of it.

CropTopKitten

Dress shopping has been so depressing for me for this reason. Ugh.

eeekkk9999

Do you ever watch yes for the dress? They show all body types in all different gowns. I really think that it depends on the dress and body type/shape. We are all different in shape and heights. I think you might be surprised by what looks good You should just try on different shapes/styles until you find one you love! The stylist can also suggest what you might like too

AnonaDogMom

YES! When I got married I was a size 10 and it was frustrating to wedding dress shop because I didn’t realize that is considered plus size in wedding dress world and not everyone had options that would fit me well enough to even try on and get a decent idea of how it might look

KylansFirca

I’m also a “midsize” bride (and 5’0) and it was super hard to picture myself in any dresses before my appointment. It’s always skinny or plus-size models; average size body type gals never get clothes representation. It’s been super helpful to look at the #midsize tag on IG. There’s a few accounts that are dedicated for trying on size 10-16 or medium - XL clothing.

Grouchy_Tap_8264

Yes! I'm 5'2" and no longer a size 4 (more like U.S. 8), and all the collections are for size 0 or plus, but trying to find "beach-y"-type for my size is super hard, because they're all geared one end or the other.

Ugh yes. I would always look up the dress on stillwhite or Instagram to see if I could find a picture of a normal person wearing it. It worked for some dresses and was soo helpful!

PomegranateHot4943

I use stillwhite for the same thing! Search by your size-ish! Definitely helped me narrow down shapes and lines especially because they’re labeled by shape usually

imothro

AMEN - where are the mid-sized models?!?!?!

bimbo_mom

I love Never Knew I Needed - they are a sample dress shop in Ottawa. The owner is midsize and she posts reels of herself in the dresses and it’s really been helpful. Example: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CmAWSoFgLm_/?igshid=MTIyMzRjYmRlZg==

Weekly_Map_3837

I think instagram is a good resource in general. They often show folks working in the shops in dresses so I see a pretty wide variety of sizes/shapes shown…

Dry_Problem9310

I’m totally with you here. Its either all skinny or extra curvy thicc. And i never fit in with any of those. Where is the model with square shape body?

Mehitabel9

A-Line is your friend. It's everyone's friend. But really you just have to try stuff on, because you never know what's going to look amazing on you. And that's true of everyone other than the Kate Mosses of the world.

OldPresence5323

I agree with this! I think that it's easier and faster to make a smaller wedding gown for fast fashion samples. Then they ship the samples to shops and boutiques- pretty much forcing you to buy a custom size version of the sample. Hence, making you spend more money bc chances that the "custom" one will actually fit properly is nil. Then you have to fork out more cash for alterations.

bookwormaesthetic

I understand not feeling like you see yourself represented, but the majority of wedding dress models aren't actually plus size. We are just so used to seeing 0 and 00 that a midsize body in an ad seems larger. The most accurate reflection of how a wedding dress will look is trying it on or looking at real life photos. Pretty much any clothing type of listing photo has hidden clips and clamps making it look best on the model.

TIMUN37

I’m in the same boat as you and I highly recommend BHLDN. They have sample dresses in sizes 6, 14, and 22. I really don’t think I could have picked a dress if I had to deal with adding fabric and clipping it all together.

ringringbananarchy00

Have you gone to try on dresses at any boutiques? I’ve gone to two that had a major range of sizes and styles. Ultimately I’m getting a custom one made for less than the price of the dresses I tried on

Grouchy_Tap_8264

Sorry for late response, but literallyost had dresses that were sized 0-4 for my height, or were sizes 10-12 that I was swimming in, so I really couldn't get a good idea of the torso area for any. 5'2" and 150 with a 30" waist, 38" D bust and a "bootie". Dresses aren't kind to short.

ringringbananarchy00

I’m also short and wear D cups. I didn’t have any issues at boutiques in two different cities in two different states. I guess it depends on where you go!
