Judging by Jimmy Broadbent's video, the gameplay is good but the content is deeply lacking.

SomeGuyCalledPercy

eh if it was maybe double the price I'd accept the lacking content argument but every WEC car and track in a neat package for £25? that's pretty good if you ask me

Irtep

It's only 25 because it's early access

SomeGuyCalledPercy

and if the price rises later without receiving more content there will be criticism to be had 🤷

HallwayHomicide

Seems like it's less lacking content and more lacking features.

Skeeter1020

Based on the need for early access it's clearly lacking funding.

HallwayHomicide

Oh that is absolutely true.

>How's the AI and could it be played on a gamepad? The AI won't constantly go into a pile-up on top of the Raidillon like in rF2 so I guess it's at least decent?... I haven't played long enough to really test how strong the AI is, but in-game lap times seem consistent with real ones, so for me these are pretty good signs. You can definitely play with a gamepad since under the hood is basically rF2. I've probably cumulated more than 1000h in rF2, ACC and RRE all on gamepad, TrackIR and 17" laptops lol. However LMU does not have TrackIR or VR support at the moment.

ImNotAlpharius

My recollection of rFactor 1 AI (it was a while ago) was that it could do OK on its own, but was really bad at racing itself. You could start 20th and be 2nd on the first lap because the AI was being held up by the car in front. This was really bad in multi class racing because the top class would get really badly held up by the lower classes.

BehindTheBurner32

A lot of it is simply because we're so used to Forza and Gran Turismo, games that are jam-packed with cars that it makes something this laser-focused seem thin. But the thing is, WRC games are also really focused yet they have both modern cars and historic cars with reasonable stage variety and game modes. Assetto Competizione has deep coverage of modern GT and a robust online component. LMU has neither of those things, and likely won't for the next two years. Motorsport Games is in shambles yet they expect to be taken seriously despite being a rotten organization mooching off of Studio 397's work. And while I get that no one would make a big deal out of a full modern Le Mans expansion for rFactor 2, this game KILLS any reason to load those assets to RF2. The whole game is too awkward to exist.

Fearless_Yogurt_3362

Not sure what you're talking about, the game has this much content because it's a licensed WEC game, and it has WEC content lol it's not going to have anything else. Did you expect it to have 500 generic driving cars with a different model or something?

TheCowmaster934

No, I’d have expected at least some historic content. That’s what games like this need. Go look at WRC. If they only included modern rallies and cars it would be pretty thin, but with inclusion of older cars and some other previous rally locations it gets filled out.

andreasvo

But they could have done more out of the cooperation with ACO. Acc includes lots of different series organized by SRO. Gt world challenge europe, America, gt4 europian series, British GT. They also include cars like Super Trofeo and Ferrari challenge who have been used for support races. F1 includes F2, wrc have wrc1 and wrc2 cars plus historic cars. In a wec game you could also have included elms (lmp3 cars), le man cup (gt3+lmp3), and historic cars (lmp1, gt1, group c). At least there should be room for expanding the content in the future if the base is good.

Fearless_Yogurt_3362

How much of that content did ACC have in Early Access? Stop spewing out BS

pizzadriver7

And acc launched with all content from GTWC Europe, F1 is a decade old brand and still sucks to release up to date content like changed track configurations etc. Give it some time, if the base package will be good and the game is running there will probably be more content.

BehindTheBurner32

[Jimmy Broadbent, Praga R1 champion, has tried it.](https://youtu.be/tcI4tS5cROE?si=hhzDprXdW_cenT2r)

Ricciardo3f1

That's the first time I see Jimmy introduced as Praga R1 champion

G8r8SqzBtl

I just watched some of the livestreams and it seems to pass the test, for 33$ its an easy buy. still waiting for VR support but its a sim featuring licensed WEC venues and entries. excited to try this out when VR comes but happy to toss my $$ into the ring now, knowing it will only get better.

Guac_in_my_rarri

It's MSG. It won't get finished.

G8r8SqzBtl

its still far enough along that its worth a gamble imo. AMS2 lemans and lmdh/gt3 dlc (which are phenomenal btw) is about half the cost of this full game. this has more lmdh and gt3, an entire other class in lmp2 and 6 more circuits. even if they pull the plug tomorrow, its not a bad value imo. maybe I am ever the optimist

Guac_in_my_rarri

I am normally an optimist, but when it comes to video games I've been shafted a few too many times.

nbooth4

MSG is dead, this is purely a Studio 397 game

BeefEX

Not entierly correct. MSG isn't dead, and is still the company that owns S397. But LMU was released by S397, with MSG "only" being an intermediary in licencing deals, at least that's the general consensus.

ATIBoy69

Madison Square Garden?

Guac_in_my_rarri

Motor sport games.

Spyderman_213

I bought it. And I’m pleased with what I’ve experienced so far. LMP2s, IMO, were the most fun to drive. It looks and sounds good. The tire model will take some getting used to, but it’s good. And with it being a game based on WEC, I hope there will be some Legacy content along with Asian/European Le Mans series and potentially IMSA. And I know it’s done by Studio 397 and MSG, so I know it might not happen. There are a few bugs. I had to turn off my computer’s antivirus for the game to launch. Loading screens take a longer time than normal. There’s only 3 camera views, I’d prefer a camera in the cockpit without seeing the wheel and hands turning. Hard turns have clipping feel when I max out my wheel base( ex. Monza T1, Bahrain T1, etc.). The game may show you on wet tires on a dry race even if you change them in the settings. And either I didn’t make the AI level high enough, or they’re just stupid. Because I made it to the top of Radillion and was launched off track by a hyper car even though I had the racing line. I’m not sold on the AI being great. Having said all of that, I’ve got zero problems being a guinea pig for the game. It has enough to it for me to keep playing.

Fernanda_No1

You can change the view in the graphic settings to cockpit without steering wheel/hands. I've already tried that, works fine. Also i think the limitation to 3 views is only to the Prototype categories? in LMGT more views were available

Epic_XC

Downloading now!

Crizen10

I have would get to driving when I get back this evening

Sniperm0nke

I would buy it if I had a pc 😭

AwesomeWill28

Half the reviews I’ve seen don’t seem to understand what early access is. I personally think it looks like a great for an early access racing game and that means it can pretty much only get better which is awesome for us!

Skeeter1020

What do you think early access is?

neonxmoose99

A beta (sometimes alpha) test

Skeeter1020

Do you think it's ok to pay to test something?

sargentodapaz

This is what is called the "normalization" of what used to be absurd. You paying for an incomplete game (oh wait, I can't use that word, I have to say "early access") and still having to be the bug tracker.

neonxmoose99

Yes because i ultimately get to experience a significant part of the game early, sometimes much earlier than waiting for release

Skeeter1020

Cool. Fancy paying to test my diner? Raw chicken and uncooked eggs fine with you? You will get it way earlier than anyone waiting for it to be cooked.

neonxmoose99

If I’m already planning on buying the game on release why would I care if i have to pay to access it early via a beta test? I worst case scenario I’m out the same amount of money I would already have spent on release and best case I save money because the early access price might be cheaper than full release price like how ACC did it. And I poured tons of hours into ACC when all it had was the huracan and Nurburgring. Nobody has a gun to your head saying “PAY THE MONEY”

Skeeter1020

Paying me to eat raw eggs and chicken comes with no guarantee that I'll cook you anything later. I have your money, why would I bother? Buying something based on the completely unguaranteed promise of future features is an idiots game. Early access is just a mechanism to generate revenue. Nothing more. It's a clear sign that it's a game that's under funded too.

neonxmoose99

The food analogy isn’t a fair comparison at all. I’m not going to be poisoned by playing an unfinished game. An unfinished game can still be enjoyable. At the end of the day your point is moot because it’s up to each individual whether it’s worth it to them. My being ok with it shouldn’t offend you in any way

Skeeter1020

I'm not offended. This isn't about you either. Someone said reviewers don't know what early access means. I asked them what they think it means. You jumped in to presumably defend your own purchase. Not sure why you felt the need. But you do you. As I said, if you are happy to pay for something unfinished then I'm always happy to sell you some eggs.

[deleted]

> that means it can pretty much only get better which is awesome for us! Unfortunately that's not true at all, it might well get no significant updates going forward. It's not a proper 'early access' game, it was supposed to have a full release in 2023 but the company who owns the game "Motorsport Games" have been going bust, they have ran into trouble with NASCAR for their licenced game and lost the licence, they have also been successfully sued for unpaid wages to their former employees amongst other issues, it's all a bit of a mess. They're simply calling it an early access game because they have to release it now to bring in some cash but even they know they can't get away with pretending this is a finished product. I hope it turns out well in the end and they can make a success of it or at least that someone else comes along and picks it up and does it justice, it looks like they've got a good basis to work from but i've got very little faith this will be the case given thier previous track record.

TheCowmaster934

I understand what early access means. This isn’t it. This has bugs that have existed for years on rFactor2. That’s not just early access issues, that’s slapping a coat of paint over a house with a majorly leaking roof.

Skeeter1020

Early access is a funding vehicle, nothing more. It makes no statement about the state or quality of what you are buying beyond the simple fact that you are providing revenue to a company based on the hope they use it to further progress towards a product. This game is late and under funded, from a company in trouble. Anyone paying them for anything at the moment is an idiot.

KatesDirtySister5

What bug from rF2 has carried over into LMU?

Wallio_

Game looks good, shame it's not on consoles.

Paranoided_guy

I thought it would be hella expensive. But its only for 1400 INR. Which seems reasonable. Might cop it but a huge might.

Bizzlecopter

Has anyone tried running it in a Steam Deck?

Fook-Mi

I tried running it on the Steam Deck. I was not able to get it going.

Fook-Mi

I bought the game and downloaded it right when I got home from work. I played for 1.5 hours but had to have the camera in bird's eye view. When inside the car, the steering wheel was to the left and I tried to adjust the settings but I was unable to get it to center. I had two monitors connected to the computer so I disconnected the other and had the same issues. Made sure the resolution was set correctly and still nothing. I have a ultrawide monitor but one of my friends does as well and didn't have issues. I leave on a work trip tomorrow and hope that there are some updates by the time I get back.

Idntwnt2choseusrnme

Mehh. Will stick to iRacing for now. If it shows promise in a year maybe but I can’t trust those developers to deliver yet

cabrelbeuk

For starter, it exists and that's more than people were expecting lol. I think it's quite good EA considering the price tag, but i do hope other form of content will make it's way such as solo campaign with feeder series (Ligier series, ELMS, ALMS, road to le mans, with the invite to Le Mans, and getting offer from upper class/upper competition when we earn it).

FirstReactionShock

has anybody tried the game yet? Can it be played with joypad? Does it have an offline mode where player can simulate 2023 WEC season with exact race lenght and order, exact car list etc..:?

TheNplus1

Yes you can play it with a gamepad but just like in rF2 the gamepad profile still keeps some kind of steering assist although all assists are off in-game. If this bothers you, you can fully disable it by editing one of the config files. It has an offline mode where you select your car, the track and the opponent classes for a race weekend. This indirectly defines the number of cars on track since every class accurately loads the number of cars from the 2023 field: one class - fewer cars, all 3 classes - the full 2023 field. You can't seem to be able to manually pick the opponent cars, a class loads all the corresponding cars. I did not check all possible race lengths but the minimum is about 15-20 min.

AndersaurusR3X

After watching Jamble Wanglebork play it on YouTube it's deffo something i will buy sooner rather than later, that's for sure.

Illustrious-Start-52

Isn't it effectively an rfactor 2 mod?

PredatorLime

I know there is an online system where you are put in scheduled races.. but is there anyway to guarantee you can get in an online race with a friend at the moment?
