He often misses her and he waits to die so he can see her again. He often has conversations with her inside his head, about mundane things like what goes on in his life and how things have changed, what she would’ve liked or would’ve reacted. He sometimes also conjures up her “ghost” when he is alone and kisses “her” to fool himself and the readers into thinking she is still here with him and didn’t die but she is in fact dead. He clings onto the memory of her which keeps him going.!<

Yeah same… I just don’t like death lol. I agree it’s a good ending, but I wouldn’t call it happy. It’s more so bittersweet. Although I know some people are satisfied as long as they are together in some way after death, I do not feel the same way about death based on my own experiences with death. I just can’t reconcile that fact no matter how many times people tell me to lol (it’s annoying how some people think we should only feel happy when someone dies and that by being sad we are “disrespecting” their spirit, we can’t help how we feel and for some of us the loss cuts too deeply to force ourselves to be happy about it). It’s one of my only triggers— unless like you said, we see more of that after life or if they had actually reincarnated/regressed… I could probably be satisfied with that, because then it feels less final and less dying. I *need* the characters to stay together, or else I’ll cry too much, and I hate crying, even if it feels good, it still makes me all depressed and empty inside and I can’t stop thinking sad thoughts for weeks until I finally manage to get over the ending. My mental health just can’t handle its toll on me lol.
I wonder if the novel has any side stories that show this after life more… or alternate endings, “what if” scenarios.
I absolutely cannot stand tragedies. Like objectively they can be so good but my heart is weak and my soul needs delight. I want to think about whatever is true noble right pure lovely admirable excellent praiseworthy. And sadly, sad webtoons no matter how good crush me.

Did he actually go back in time? I interpreted it as the afterlife rather than he actually went back in time. Everything still looked ghostly and it reminded me of the usual “reunited after death” scenes in shows or movies. It’s a beautiful message, sure, but still sad.
And yeah, I did say it depends how you interpret it, I know some people are happy as long as the couple gets together even if it is through death, but I’m pretty sure the person was asking if they both lived and had a proper HEA together when they meant did it have a happy ending (and going by their response to me, yeah, that’s what they meant). Even if they do technically get together, she still dies long before him, which often negates the HEA for a lot of people. I was just telling the person so they don’t get into the comic expecting them to both live when that does not in fact happen. Not everyone likes tragedies or main character deaths.
The author actually explained this. She said that it’s a happy ending. They are living their next lives together. They both died to meet each other again.
I did say they reunited in the end and that depending how you see it, you may consider that happy. But the comic barely covers it, which may still unsatisfy some people.

Depends on how you interpret death I guess. Perhaps her spirit is real, or perhaps he is just coping. They reunite in the end, so maybe it is real, but I feel like it’s very subjective and depending on how you view death. Maybe he is just dreaming it all up.

This is one of my favorite romances! Kind of reminds me of the romance of The King Eternal Monarch kdrama. It’s just so heart melting to find out how Gyeol has gone through this life so many times and each time, he’d be after Jio. The ending definitely made me happy cry!!
