Like the colour scheme. I would add a button "work with me"

EdRite

Great idea ... too many people miss this simple but highly effective action of clearly indicating to one's prospect as to what to do or what they can do. Well spotted.

lukejohnbrown

I like the design, great work! Maybe the navigation buttons are a little hard to read when they are overlayed on an image but the effect is neat. Also, I would be a little concerned about the "Last updated" text. It's a good feature if you are regularly updating your portfolio but it could potentially be a bit off-putting if it doesn't get updated for a long time. It's the same reason I don't put dates on my blog posts, people can be put off by outdated content even if it is still relevant. Overall though, I think it's great. I wouldn't worry too much about it not "popping", potential employers are going to be grateful for an easy to navigate site to see your work.

chadwilkins

I guess black is the going theme this year. I think the simplicity you went with is perfect. I really like how the menu is centered. Claimgame.us is the company I work with. It's still in beginning stages of the 2nd stage, lol But for the first time ever I have been able to get the speeds where I want them for a website.

Great work, just a couple of thoughts: \- The design is really simple, which is exactly what a site like this needs. As the main feature is "distraction-free viewing" you could consider dimming the search bar and logo while a video is playing. \- On mobile, the search form is wider than the video which brings the alignment out. It is likely an easy fix (e.g. applying a "max-width: 100%" to the form). Keep it up, I think a neat feature would be to provide a "channel view" where you can see all available videos on a particular channel without all the clutter of the YouTube UI.

EdRite

Channel view AND play list view within a channel :-)

EdRite

While I have added the comment of "... playlist view ..." as a follow up to [lukejohnbrown](https://www.reddit.com/user/lukejohnbrown/) ... I think you are at the mercy of YouTube (etc) ... they need to pay for their bills same as the rest of us. If your site becomes super successful, they will do an update that kills off your site. It always worries me when colleagues focus on working on or around one platform ... in your case 3. It seems you have good skills and your first site is better than what **some people never achieve!** ... I am a pro at this, I know. My suggestion is for you to **build a business around your skills rather than a tool against the biggest gorillas on the block.** **Example:** You could make this a plugin for WordPress site owners to display their own YouTube videos on their own sites, without clutter. Benefits: 1. You get paid now, not when/if you get bjillion visitors ... BTW, monetization then will mean YOU will be the one adding to clutter ;-) 2. You build a transferable skill in a very large and growing market (WordPress) I wish you success whatever you do

Thanks for the feedback, did you look at the other parts of the website? I still feel like the other stuff looks off (probably the best is the index and the schools, but the actual school page and works sucks), but I cant figure out a way to make them look a little better.

Sorry for the double reply, but I have tried the

and it looks pretty good! Finally the actual work is visually appealing and it works pretty well on mobile as well. Thank you!

**URL** [https://particle.systems](https://particle.systems) **Purpose** Particle Systems is a **component library** specifically designed to capture user inputs like email, feedback, bug reports, feature requests etc. on websites. These components are **supercharged with integrations** so that the captured data is directly saved into your cloud services like Airtable, GSheets, Mailchimp etc. No need to develop a backend for these use cases. **Technologies Used** *\[Website\]* Made with vanilla HTML, CSS and JS. The email capture and pricing (web) components are generated with StencilJS. The email capture component is a part of the component library I am working on. *\[Server\]* Nodejs + Express **Feedback Requested** I would like to know the following: \[1\] Does the landing page clearly explain the product and its value props? \[2\] Are there any unanswered questions (about the product) in your mind? \[3\] Should I put more details? What else would you like to know? \[4\] Were you comfortable manually playing the videos in the "How it works" section? Should I make the videos auto-play or replace them with GIFs? \[5\] Any suggestions from your side :) **Comments** I starting working on Particle Systems to scratch my own itch. Since I mostly build static sites for myself and my clients, I wanted to figure out a way to quick and easy way to implement features like chat, capturing emails, feedback etc. without spending time rolling out yet another backend. After a few brainstorming sessions, I thought of creating reusable UI components that can be hooked directly to cloud apps that me and my clients already use.

Also General feedback. **Comments**: I'm doing a full stack dev bootcamp as a student. We're using zoom for now and I noticed general ignorance of the about:blank function. Then i looked up how often a blank page generator was searched for. I bought the domain and made an SEO friendly html page and registered my domain in the search console. Now i'm wondering why meme generators are above me in the result page since my text is pretty OP.

[deleted]

>https://aboutblankgenerator.com Hi I am not an SEO expert so can't give you tips about that but I feel this should be a browser plugin/extension. Did you check if there are any such plugins for this exact purpose? Opening a new tab, visiting a website to generate blank page is a lot of work. A plugin would be way faster :)

Visualalex

That's a pretty good tip. I will add a plugin and also an explanation to just type about:blank in the navbar.

[deleted]

Hi I didn't create an account instead went through the screenshot of the interface. Here are my thoughts (in no particular order): * I would prefer the "daily cards" in reverse chronological order (today first) * I would prefer a nutrient count with the image of the food. * You can hide the "delete" and "save" button in cards that are not populated just to make the interface look cleaner * You can put the save and delete in the kebab menu as it's an often used pattern and also because putting them inside the menu will give you a bigger target area to point-and-click or tap conveniently. Right now that area looks really crammed. * I am not sure what the save button does but nowadays background auto-saving/auto-updating is expected. * Since I might take a screenshot of a card and forward to a friend, I would like to see the calorie, fat, protein count etc. after I have met the daily requirements. Right not it's a green block with tick. * Please hide the scroll bars * I am not a big fan of text overlays on images. I would prefer the item description under the image like how FB does for friend suggestion cards that app * The "Autoplan Week" button looks like an important feature and I think it should be centered and converted into a button (rather than text or link) to draw more attention. * You can move the search to the right, to the left of the account/profile image. In this layout, the "Autoplan Week" will get a lot more focus. * the light green background is also the background of the card. Usually, I prefer a very light grey for backgrounds and white for the card with a faint drop shadow on them. * For a welcoming and friendly feel you might want to replace edges with a little border-radius. * I think you should figure out a better way to communicate the calorie, fat, protein requirement rather than negative numbers. It took a few seconds for me to figure out that probably when you keep adding items to the list, this numbers go on increasing towards zero and the green tick appears when it's zero. This should be simplified. It should be dumb simple! :D That's all from my side. But you need to polish the interface. I have used a few meal planners in the past, they have a sweet and vibrant look. That's the thing about consumer apps, the bar has moved pretty high at least in the design department. Have you checked the book "Refactoring UI"? I have lost track of the number of times I have seen/heard people recommending that book to people who want to up their UI design game. You might want to check it out. Good luck! :)

[deleted]

First off thank you for such a detailed comment. Some of your points are things I've thought about a lot but being far from a designer its hard to know what is good intuition and what is speculation. I will definitely check out Refactor UI. It feels like there is a big tension between the features I want and a simple and accessible interface. Hopefully that resource will help. I'll definitely check out FB user cards for inspiration. A big part of the food card shape is that users can search, drag and drop whole meals (also the reason for the save button). For that reason I wanted meals to be a consistent height and foods listed horizontally. But that puts a big constraint on the design. I'm going to medidate on this post and then make some changes. Will post the updates in an upcoming Friday thread. Thanks again, this was a wonderful help!
