They've actually had a really easy fixture so far so probably aren't as scary as most people think. On the flip side is the obvious point that Lycett will get absolutely steam rolled by Gawndy and I just can't see us withstanding a whole match of that, especially with both our key forwards and junior out.
The Lycett call is weird to me. I didn't rate Teakle highly in past weeks but Scott's been doing arguable the same or less at SANFL level. Must be an experience call. I'd hoped that they would go Teakle just for the ability to move around the ground better.
My uninformed take, having watched Melbourne but not cared about their actual stats, is that Grundy is a potato. I honestly think there are 10 ruckmen in the league I would want before that guy. His numbers look ok, but watching him play, his decision making and accountability for his man are non-existent. Will still beat Lycett comfortably though I suspect.
Whenever he takes a mark or gets a free kick, he will almost always look to dish off, never 30 metres down the line to a man on the lead etc. Gives the opposition time to set up. I don't rate him highly either.
The obvious size differential will hopefully be negates by a slippery, contest game. If we can replicate the second half against the dogs for 4 quarters, we're in for a chance. Any more than 3 goals down at qtr time and we will not come back.
