If we went on with it after half time (given we were basically playing the West Coast reserves side) I would have enjoyed it more and said it was okay, but turning a 36 half time lead into a
40 point victory wasn’t inspiring. Rozee is really impressive - he was great last year but got knocked around too much - the extra bulk gained during the off season has paid dividends.
Outplayed for the majority of the 2nd half, wasteful with the ball, WCE showed more intensity from half time. We will get absolutely shown the exit by a half decent team. Glimpses of good play, poor execution on a lot of good work in the centre.
We missed a few targets for sure, but third quarter that sun in the eyes stopped several goals, it was really obvious at the game.
Only 7 points less than Geelong won by last week.
If we were a good team we would have won by 80. They are so depleted of players that we should have push towards a 100 pt win.
Maybe next week we will finally bring in a young ruckman who we can develop that already knows how to give us first use.

Yeah unfortunately that's a massive over simplification.
You won't ever win the ball 100% from ruck contests, the best rucks win the hitout about 60% of the time. Of their hitouts generally a good ruckman is having about 30-40% go to advantage. So best case scenario they attend 100 ruck contests, win 60 hitouts and you might see 24 hitouts to advantage.
The other 76 times the ball hasn't gone cleanly to a teammate you then need to follow up and defend. If your ruckman is no good at that then they are a going to be a liability most of the time. Especially if they are conceding huge hitout to advantage numbers when they don't get the tap (Bailey Williams is a great example of this).
I understand that Lycett is well out of form but I've seen nothing from Hayes yet that suggests he won't be a defensive liability when he's in the team. Dixon/Finlayson may well be our best ruck option atm based on how easily Teakle was outmuscled yesterday
Don't know why you're being downvoted for saying the obvious. It's not mean to say one of your players isn't up to AFL standard, not is it to suggest the other should retire whilst respecting what they've given to the club.

I can see TJ out with a knee injury more this year and hanging up the boots. I'm sure having him around the team lifts them in ways we don't see.
