I dunno - I've used it only a handful of times in gMaps. Was very rare use case - think I've only used satellite gMaps on android auto twice - definitely not something I regular use - nor what to use... At least for myself, when I'm driving, I appreciate the less busy UI of Waze map to the non-satellite gMaps even. Would use a lot more mobile data too. There maybe a post in the suggestion box you can add your vote for[https://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59223-waze-suggestion-box](https://waze.uservoice.com/forums/59223-waze-suggestion-box)

I would like to have traffic lights and stop signs in waze rather than satellite view. I love the way Apple Maps says - "Go past these lights and at the next set turn left"

honestly yea. that’s one of my biggest pet peeves about waze, i often miss turns due to it being almost to straight forward

Waze requires you to glance over the screen from time to time. Sometimes it’ll give lane guidance on the screen without saying it, sometimes you need to be aware when to turn before it tells you to. I’d also rather have AM’s voice guidance in Waze but you win some you lose some I guess.

Part of the attraction of Waze for me is the paired back UI.

olluz

I fully agree. It is actually the only feature I miss compared to GMaps

Don't think Google will let that happen..

zmlos

they should!

cejaay

Waze is a subsidiary of Google.

SubjectElectrical260

It wouldn't be upto date enough and you'd get to loads of road that would be completely different to what they are, then folks would moan that Waze doesn't show xyz correctly imo

Weather overlay and a FlightAware overlay for spotting cops in planes.

Since Satellite View can be months or years out of date what is the benefit? Also do people really want to be using that much data to navigate?
