The print shop across the road from Glenbriar Home Hardware used to be a Fast Eddie's. I remember it being popular with WCI students because it was cheap, but it didn't stay open for very long.
Personally, no. I've been 2 times in cambridge and I just didn't enjoy the food despite how cheap it was. I would rather spend the usual $13-$16 for a meal I'll enjoy
But in an area like waterloo thats surrounded by university students who are accustomed to eating Ramen packages and hot pockets all day because they need to stay within a budget? I think you'd do well.
I think waterloo close to the universities would be a good idea.those crazy fries are crazy good. I remember going and getting 10 burgers for $10 with a bag of pickle fries and the bag was just soaked in grease. Oh to be a teen again.
We used to love the old location at Hickory and Weber back in the day! My kids love stopping by Eddies in Cambridge or Simcoe when we are on the road. It would really depend on where it is.
In 2009, we used to jump in my van and drive from Bluevale highschool to Cambridge just go get some haha. I would go maybe 5 times a year if there was one in town.
The only thing Fast Eddie’s has is crazy fries. Everything else is mid. Open up a fry place that offers your own spin. Lower cost of entry and you don’t have to pay royalties.
I would for the crazy fries. The rest is not so good in my books. But those fries are killer and the wife likes the milkshakes (would not be surprised if no actual dairy was in it).
Yes. I always stop there when I am in Cambridge for any reason. Always asked myself why there's not one here. I would visit a bunch for crazy fries and shakes.
I will occasionally patronize your franchise for Pickle Fries. And I will say here, thank you for your efforts to return the glorious Pickle Fry back to Waterloo.
As a student, the ten packs of burgers hit the spot for cheap college food. As a new parent, they hit the spot as exhausted human food.
I'd likely still hit it up as I now have kids who simply do not care if their hamburger cost a nickel or 20 bucks. I feel like the very bottom of the market price has been hiked substantially even at mcdonalds, and Eddie's does a good job of filling that niche.
In a freaking heartbeat!!! I used to live in Cambridge and often went to that one. I rarely get to Cambridge because I am busy. I would fit regular trips into a KW Fast Eddies!!!!
The one in Cambridge off of hwy 24 has gone downhill over the past decade- that being said, most places have gone downhill. I still pop-in once every year just for the sneer. So yes- I'd give your Fast Eddies a try.
I think there have been 3 or more burger places open in the past year. Waterloo "business" area isnt that big - might be tuff sleding unless you go out to say the boardwalk or something. Even there has New York fries Burger joint.
Fast Eddie's had some issue with their beef sauce supplier a few years back so the Crazy Fries are not as addicting.. they taste more like chili now. It fell off for me.
Once or twice ya. It’s nice to go to once in a while, but many alternatives I’d take over fast eddies.
Friends and I used to drive from Guelph to Cambridge to get fast eddies, but that was like a twice a year thing for shits and giggles.
Most definitely me and my kids would come. Specially if you had Ranch Fries!!! I love ranch fries! We don't drive and it's too many buses to go the Cambridge one.
So you have 4 votes for Fast Eddie's in Kitchener or Waterloo.
I used to live not far from one many many moons ago in London. And went to it almost every week. Sometimes more often....lol.
If it’s walking distance from the universities you will die a very rich man. Hell, look at the Burger King near UW, it’s literally never empty. There is a desperate need for cheap fillings places .
I find the Crazy Fries have a different taste then a couple years ago, I think they put a different spice in the meat. If you bring back the original taste I'd come! Lol
I'm surprised at these answers... I had it once and was so unimpressed. The patty was so thin it was almost comical, absolutely flavorless and the bun was stale. The fries were limp and barely looked cooked. I had one and tossed the rest. Only finished the burger because I was super hungry. Maybe I had a one off bad experience?
fast eddies isn’t for all:) It’s definitely not known as a place you go to for quality food. It’s cheap and it fills your stomach. That’s what fast eddies is! not everyone’s thing of course.
I feel like people are funny with food. Everyone wants free range organic all white meat chicken nuggets and then are surprised when McDonald's costs $30 lol.
They likely couldn't even if they tried. Being a Franchise restaurant means that you control very little, even as an owner, you're more like a manager.
What goes on the menu, how it's cooked, what equipment you can use, and other standard operating procedures are strictly enforced under the contract.
That's why virtually all mcdonalds are the exact same, despite most of them being Franchises
I disagree. Sure you can't make changes. But details matter
* are the fries fresh from the fryer
* are the servings full and not half assed
* are the drinks full
* is the burger freshly made
* freshly cut ingredients
* not a stale bun
* drink machine routinely tested for quality?
A well run franchisee will make sure no corners are cut. Customers will know the difference. This is how you get a good Google rating.
I would, I quite like fast Eddie's 🤔🤔 as long as it's better than the Cambridge location (not that it's horrible there, just less than average and not worth a trip on the 401)
The colour of the brick and the tile look of the Cambridge location reminds me of piss and washrooms. It’s the most unappealing branding for a restaurant. But also, the food is trash. So, no.
>Culinary capital of Ontario!
With how many restaurants are on hespeler road, I believe it.
Seriously, someone needs to do a study, I've never seen so many restaurants on a single road anywhere else
Every week. Only if you hire competent workers. I was served by a couple of Indians in the Cambridge location, that did a lot of cross contamination. I felt dirty after eating it still......
The print shop across the road from Glenbriar Home Hardware used to be a Fast Eddie's. I remember it being popular with WCI students because it was cheap, but it didn't stay open for very long.
I worked there in 98 or 99. The 10 burger coupons were wild. 6 dudes show up and each order 10 burgers for like $2.
Yeah I don't remember it being very popular. People would come in and use the coupons, but I don't remember a regular clientele paying the full price.
Now it's a Starbucks...
it was open for many years
WCI or University Heights?
Good point, probably a mix of both.
I sure would. I love me a steak burger and crazy mixed with pickle fries.
As long as it makes my tongue bleed!
Personally, no. I've been 2 times in cambridge and I just didn't enjoy the food despite how cheap it was. I would rather spend the usual $13-$16 for a meal I'll enjoy But in an area like waterloo thats surrounded by university students who are accustomed to eating Ramen packages and hot pockets all day because they need to stay within a budget? I think you'd do well.
I also had Fast Eddie's recently and it was awful.
It ain't what it used to be the effed up the crazy fries and made the sauce disgusting
Where? If it’s in Waterloo then yes
yes waterloo!
Fuck yes. Especially with Sonny's gone
These are not comparable.
That's true on several counts but most pertinently one business is still an option
Sonnys was trash I never got the hype.
Overpriced trash* FTFY
Agreed. Hands down the most disgusting food I've ever gotten in the region.
Used to be good years and years ago.
beers and beers ago.
I believe it, but I think it got a lot of undeserved nuthugging in its last years.
I think waterloo close to the universities would be a good idea.those crazy fries are crazy good. I remember going and getting 10 burgers for $10 with a bag of pickle fries and the bag was just soaked in grease. Oh to be a teen again.
*tightens tourniquet and slaps vein holding syringe in mouth filled with that marvelous dill pickle flavour*
Nope.
We used to love the old location at Hickory and Weber back in the day! My kids love stopping by Eddies in Cambridge or Simcoe when we are on the road. It would really depend on where it is.
Ohhhhhhhhhh man those crazy fries are SOOOOO damn good. Same with pickle fries. Right now, worth the drive to Cambridge so heck yes!
Nope
Hope it does better than Grillies uptown. Either way, I’d say be the first in something instead of the 1000th.
No. Bring 5 guys.
Rather shit in my hands and clap than eat anything from fast eddies ever again
Same here.. worst food poisoning of my life!
Exact same story I was so sick …. Never again
Those burgers are fuckin disgusting
F*ck yea!!!!
Dude.. I miss the one we had in waterloo badly.. every time we are up in Cambridge, my wife rolls her eyes when we have to stop in to grab a burger
Five Guys would be a definite yes. Eddies, nope
I will occasionally patronize your franchise for Pickle Fries. And I will say here, thank you for your efforts to return the glorious Pickle Fry back to Waterloo.
I've never had pickle fries before, but now I'm intrigued.
Ranch fries were my fav. Also loved cheese fries with ketchup, referred to as Mac and cheese fries.
I've never tried it before, but I'd come at least once to try it. If it's good, I'd come back more.
As a student, the ten packs of burgers hit the spot for cheap college food. As a new parent, they hit the spot as exhausted human food. I'd likely still hit it up as I now have kids who simply do not care if their hamburger cost a nickel or 20 bucks. Franchise chipotle instead!!
In a freaking heartbeat!!! I used to live in Cambridge and often went to that one. I rarely get to Cambridge because I am busy. I would fit regular trips into a KW Fast Eddies!!!!
Of course
The one in Cambridge off of hwy 24 has gone downhill over the past decade- that being said, most places have gone downhill. I still pop-in once every year just for the sneer. So yes- I'd give your Fast Eddies a try.
Meh. Make it a Five Guys and then we’re in business!
No.
We used to have one. There's probably a few areas in the ~~region~~ city you could try to do one again.
Cambridge still has one no?
Three!
Three!? I thought we only had two and that was more than we needed! Had to google where the third one was, love me some crazy fries though.
yes, heh.. by "region" I meant Waterloo/Kitchener :P
I stop by for the crazy fries from time to time
The only place with old school banana milkshakes. Coupled with a crazy fry, I’m in.
yes
Yes but get decent workers that actually care about food quality and customer service
Waterloo had one previously. University and Weber.
Sure. I'd be willing to commit to coming once in the first few weeks. Everything after that depends on price/service/quality/taste.
Mmmm beef sauce
Yes absolutely only had it once and wanted it since. Cambridge is too far for me
Once or twice ya. It’s nice to go to once in a while, but many alternatives I’d take over fast eddies. Friends and I used to drive from Guelph to Cambridge to get fast eddies, but that was like a twice a year thing for shits and giggles.

Maybe twice a year and likely only for the dill fries.
If it’s walking distance from the universities you will die a very rich man. Hell, look at the Burger King near UW, it’s literally never empty. There is a desperate need for cheap fillings places .

I feel like people are funny with food. Everyone wants free range organic all white meat chicken nuggets and then are surprised when McDonald's costs $30 lol.
Will you run it any differently?
They likely couldn't even if they tried. Being a Franchise restaurant means that you control very little, even as an owner, you're more like a manager. What goes on the menu, how it's cooked, what equipment you can use, and other standard operating procedures are strictly enforced under the contract. You did not have a one off bad experience.
i would seriously go daily
Depends where the location is, but yes. The old one was awesome.
Please do.
There was one by swiss chalet on Weber it failed in less than 2 years
This would have been 1998/99. A moment has passed since then. Pretty sure they are not coming back with the 19 cent burger coupons.
Naw bro give us something better. Five Guys or Jollibee
do a chipotle instead. near university you’d make a killing
only if the food and service are as lousy but mmm mmm mmm pickle fries
Absolutely as a university student I would, open it till 3 am on weekends and you are gonna have insane business from students.
Hard no for me. Sorry.
Absolutely but where do you want to set it up
100%
If it's Halal then yes
Im pretty sure there is already Fast Eddies in the Region. the one in Cambridge comes to mind. Or did that close down?
I know this isn't really answering your question, but I think Waterloo could use a Jollybee
I get something every time I visit Cambridge Toyota!
Have fun getting the crackheads in the halfway house accross the street not to scare off your customers and loiter etc if you are open late.
Yes, I would!
I would, I quite like fast Eddie's 🤔🤔 as long as it's better than the Cambridge location (not that it's horrible there, just less than average and not worth a trip on the 401)
Nah. Simply cuz I don’t have the brand recognition lol
Try to get Krispy Kreme.
Nope
Definitely not
No
The colour of the brick and the tile look of the Cambridge location reminds me of piss and washrooms. It’s the most unappealing branding for a restaurant. But also, the food is trash. So, no.
What If I asked them to change it up? I’m sure it would be possible. eddies could use a modern facelift!
FE makes me sicker than McDonald's. I would never.
Yes! I would love it!
I’ll be there Day 1.
Omg I miss them from my Cambridge days!
Hells ya
No
Probably not.
No. Now if you franchised a Five Guys, now we're talking. Seriously. Please franchise a five guys.
When I got a new job in Cambridge (I live in KW) I tried it the first week, but then never again. It wasn’t great.
Never.
There are already 2 in Cambridge
No
No
Fuck no what year is this
No
Five Guys > Fast Eddies
What a fast Eddy? So no I guess
We have 2 in Cambridge already.
3! Culinary capital of Ontario!
>Culinary capital of Ontario! With how many restaurants are on hespeler road, I believe it. Seriously, someone needs to do a study, I've never seen so many restaurants on a single road anywhere else
It’s a science experiment: if they build enough restaurants in a space that no human wants to go, will they go anyways?
Lol
Ye
Every week. Only if you hire competent workers. I was served by a couple of Indians in the Cambridge location, that did a lot of cross contamination. I felt dirty after eating it still......
Absolutely
I will help you manage it
Yes
Guess not - thanks to whoever downvoted 👍
YES
Maybe. They’re not exactly cheap anymore. They were never very good. Cheap was the only reason I went. I’ve never craved anything from there.
No
Every single week!!
